does anyone know, is it possible to partition your harddrive and install silkroad on easy and have 2 SRO's open at once, one so I can have a stall or do alchemy, and playing with the other?

im pretty sure Frites is referring to "other ways" meaning SM which is illegal...

Argh then wth I see a lot of pk2 edition posts!
There shouldn't be any problem with SM!
Is nothing or nothing... that happens when you allow something... and then you try to be fair... but you already had a fault...
This forum should not promote pk2 edition.

pfft I barely buy silk. And I rather preffer to wastem money on silkroad mall than support some system's freakie group. And my point was, that pk2 edition should not be allowed as a legal activity.
PD: *sigh* I tolerate your childish globals everday TheDumbBlade, now I have to tolerate your comments here.

How many topics do we have in GD about this? I've seen at least 2 or 3 others besides this one. It's not illegal to run two clients (without modifying either client) at once if you have a way to do it. It's fine as long as both clients are clean installs that are not modified in any way.
Many people suggested VMware. That should work, but would be sluggish unless you have a really good system.
In theory, you might be able to have two separate installations of SRO on your computer, and run each of these as two different users. Might be easier to do that in Linux rather than Windows.
In theory.
If I had more time, I'd do some tests. No client modification, so no more illegal than running each client on a separate computer.
Well not all pk2 editing is bad. Technically it's still modifying the client, so maybe there should be a 'no pk2' rule. However, there is something to be said for giving users a little freedom to experiment, as long as the experimentation isn't harmful or doesn't allow them to cheat.

Hmm Let's say I break my @ss to hit Lv64 and finally hold an 8D weapon, but someone easily did it with pk2 edition at Lv1. Unfair IMO.

Somehow, You got a point, but... thing is.. what about pk2 editing uniques like Roc and the new Lv105 from Chi'n tomb's dungeon?

Well the weapon/equipment pk2 edits are client side only. It's just the look, so the person doesn't really hold an 8D weapon. I'm sure if you pk2 edit Roc into Jangan, it's just on your system, and no one else would see it.
Correct me if I'm wrong? Would others see you attack it?

Corrected.
My wife and I play SRO together all the time. Both of our XP machines are on the same LAN. So therefore we both have the same external IP... well really our router's IP. Each computer on a LAN has a separate private IP.

I'm not sure what is so confusing, but you can't run two silkroad.exe's from one operating system. When you launch silkroad.exe, it first checks whether silkroad.exe is already running, if not, it proceeds to the launcher, otherwise, it closes and gives you the message "silkroad.exe is already executed."

I've thought about that. What about running it as two separate user accounts? Is there a way to hide your processes from other users? Or is that check done from a Administrator level?
That's why I was thinking maybe Linux could do it since then SRO is running under Wine. Two separate users running a separate instance of SRO under 2 separate instances of Wine.
I thought maybe in Linux, SRO wouldn't see the other SRO client because it's outside that user's wine environment.
This is assuming you give both users access to the same X server. I'm thinking through xauth or similar.
