...the bot prevention should not be just banning bots automatically, it should stop them from connecting as they try to get into a server.
And bots don't modify the client? Well, they need to somehow get access to the incoming packages so there is link between the client files and the bot clients therefore that link can be what sets off the bot alarms and bans/blocks.

I don't know any of the GM's in person so I can't say whether I like em or not.

I'm always optimistic when it comes to GMs. The best day of Silkroad for me was the day after europe update, we crossed from Jangan -> Constantinople with 3* (I believe it was one of the first trades between these two cities) and there wasn't one bot to be found. The server was CLEAN (and what was Greece!) and remained so for quite a good time, considering the frequency of bot updates. If they kept doing that on a regular fashion, it would be great!
Whenever a GM shows up my hope gets renewed.
