Do you have any estimate on how much that will cost?
I only have like $200 on me to spend.

its a hardware device in your computer...have a computer savvy friend or pay bestbuy 120 bucks to install it (or figure it out yourself and be useful)
but yeah buy a new GPU (graphics proccessing unit) ASAP...onboard (built-in) video is -terrible-

That's not worthy. It won't be able to handle SRF without lagging. All BlackFox's smileys will make ye lagg.

Sad thing is most of those shitty dell systems don't have
pci - express slots or agp.

In that case...just change VGA. I was playing SRO on:
Celeron 1300Mhz
320RAM
ATI Radeon 9550
It wasn't laggy even with that crappy processor. You have pretty enough RAM, and the most important thing for gaming is, VGA

And if you have some extra cash...more RAM would be awesome
Geforce 7600GT. Is cheap, and very good for games. I can run all games with it, obviously...new games are laggy if i try to play at maxed graphix aotions...but still, for such a low price, GeForce7600GT is awesome

First thing to do is get a new graphics card. Silkroad will run just fine with 700mb of ram. Those integrated chips just blow.

Dude, i running sro on intel celeron 1.6 Ghz with only 256 DDR RAM and its not laggy at all when the servers populated. But it takes hell lot of time to load in towns. Only that part sucks for a poor guy like me.

The lag you get in town isnt anything to do with your computer its the game itself that is caching and rendering everybody intown... you will see this if you load into the game intown and you will see that sometimes things will be black because they havent been cached yet....
Why dont you run fraps or something that will give you a fps count when you are in town and then when you are out of town... The only lag you will get will be a small fps drop due to the amount of things moving around and you will get this anyways I pull over 100fps out of town and nearlt 50 in it purely because of the fact that there are to many things going on... there are ways to get rid of this though simply hold down the V button to remove everybody but transports and pets.
The only thing that you would need to upgrade that would help on that computer is make the Ram a round Gig or higher and than get an actual video card... depending on the motherboard will dictate which kind you will have to get but going on that its a P4 and not a celron I would assume it would be PCi-E so you will have alot of things to choose from SRo doesnt require masive power to play so you only need a midrange card... But I would just recomend holding down V while in town I thing we all pay way to much to play this game anyways
