Lag issues since euro update, need some advice

Before the euro update i could run SRO on full graphical quality (outside town) with no lag at all

Now i've created a wizard and i have a lot of lag pikes, meaning everything freezes for like 10 seconds or more now and then.

Since i know the specs on my computer are ok and since we share an internet connection and the other person with less good specs does not have those issues i'm kind of out of options.

So i have some questions:

* Does anyone still uses that IP adres in the hosts file, and if so, what is it and where can i find it again?
* Is it possible that those lag pikes are caused by graphical card drivers?
* If a certain program/process causes those lag pikes is it possible to analyze this in any way?

Maybe some of you have other suggestions/ideas on what could cause this lag.

Thx very much :)

Buy a new computer if your computer is choking on a low requirement game like SRO.

Yeah after the update i lagged alot. But you know something that was strange??? The problem had nothing to do with my internet/specs. I downloaded a spyware removal program and cleaned my computer and everything was fine. I doubt this is the case for u but im just saying...

My computer is the Dell XPS M1710 which is one of the high end gaming laptops...

# System: Dell XPS M1710 (Red color lid)
# Processor: Intel Core Duo T2600 (2.16 GHz)
# Memory: 4GB @ 667MHz - 2 DIMM Slots
# Hard Drive: 160GB capacity at a speed of 7200 RPM
# Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX with 512MB DDR memory
# Screen: WUXGA Truelife (1920 x 1200)

so the issue is NOT with my computer hardware specs.
i can only think of computer software collisions r something

Well my ISP is ok, i'm rather sure of that. since the laptop next to mine runs SRO without those issues.

Does someone have the IP of the SRO servers so i can do a ping/hop?

A reformat seems to fix a lot of things. :P

I am experiencing the exact same issues.

I have a high end computer, so its not my pc, I can run any current game on the highest graphics settings.

My roommate plays WoW and experiences none of the lag spiking that I do which leads me to believe it isnt my connection.

Are you in the US? Cause another person I know is in FL here with me and is getting the same thing as well.

no i'm not in the US, sorry

It probably will have something to do with processes that slow down things or cause network lag spikes with SRO.
I'm currently shutting down all unnecessary programs/processes to see if this solves the issues.

Again, does someone still uses the SRO servers IP adres in the hosts file? (system32 directory of windows)

I have the same laptop as you (although mine has the 7900 GS card) and i do lag a bit... more when im in a large share party... but i take the graphics down a touch. I take off bloom effect and take water detail down which helps... but i do have a few graphics issues myself i.e. some objects get streatched across the screen and i dc quite alot.

I think SRO hates our setup tbh... maybe the duel core or the graphics cards (which there is no updates for since 2006).... i would just test connection speed with other games, if thier ok then sro just hates the system setup.

well that would be bad...
still i'll try to figure out a way to avid those lag pikes, i'll keep you posted

You should definitely get the newest graph driver. It made a great difference in my case. After installing new client I got lag all the time and 4-5 dc + comp. restarts every day. With new driver no more dc and a lot less lag.

Yeah I and my whole guild get the lag spikes that last 10 seconds and wind up killing us. I think it's the whole server because joymax is patching it and fixing bugs while we play idk.

Where in florida r u? i know on siesta key (an island off sarasota) my shit lags like it's going out of style!!!! i am over it. i'm scared to even go into town anymore because of being dc'ed. i though it was the shitpeice laptop i got from work, but i loaded up euro on my fiance's mack daddy hp and it still runs like shit. there isn't any prob with comcast, but i am switching to fios next month. hopefully that will clear it up. at least with two comps going, i can powerlevel my own euro char without a prob now!!!!

It's not your computer. MANY people I know are having these fits of terrible lag and they're from all over the place.
