i found out that the shadow graphics is what makes sro lags the most, if u turn on all the graphics on high but put the shadow on nothing, it will almost be like the graphics are on low. ^^ works on all 3 of my computers what about urs?

i never turn shadows on.. dont think it really makes the game looks any better and it makes a huge fps difference.

I turn mine off too, sometimes I have them on circle though.

Anyone who has played any sort of game be it online/not will now how big of a difference shadows make to FPS.

I run mine on high WITH shadows and get almst no lag when everyone else gets 3 sec delay or more. Yes, even in town. Dunno why, maybe connection, maybe driver problem. But, mine is good.

because you have enough ram and a good graphics card?

Tip: for people who really need more fps, press F12, it really helps... my max fps with high graphics is about 70-80, with F12 its 140+

you should try alt + F4 too, but it just increse 30% of the FPS But yea, i knew this long time, they have something wrong coded with the shadows

lmao, I love how windows doesn't understand what you mean by "end this task"

if u have lag, get fraps (google it) play with the settings to see which ones slow your game down, shadow is a big fps killer in sro

Yeah I found that out last night

Now I play with no shadows

i have mine on circle and get 150+ fps but when i turn shadow on i get around 50-60 fps. soo it went down 100 fps which is not worth it for me hehe.

i set my settings to low. no shadows, water detail low, texture quality low.
i set them high only when i take screenies.

Well that depends on if you have the welcome screen or fast user switching enabled. So in that case, it's

1. CTRL-ALT-DEL
2. Click "Task Manager"
3. Click "sro_client"
4. Click "End Process"

Alternatively, on any XP system (vista too maybe???)

1. Windows-Key + R
2. type cmd.exe and hit enter
3. type "tskill sro_client.exe" and hit enter (without quotes)


One less step and should work on any XP system

Texture detail will cause/decrease lag more than shadows.

There are 2 kinds of lag :
- lag due to graphic settings : your cpu or your graphic card are not enough strong to read datas and textures. That always happens when u are in town. Even my pc with 2.6Ghz & 256Mb of graphic card is not strong enough. It's recommended to set the shadow as circle or nothing.
- lad due to your internet connection. That's what we call delay.

Got my shadows off all the time.
