I play with 2 gb of ram. Play any game perfect, never maxing out on ram. I think currently 1 gb is enough to play sro. But your process/graphics make up how fast the game loads.

Lowest that it can run smoothly on is probably 512 mb, but it does depend on your graphics card, processor ect.

You can get away with 512 MB with this game on a Pentium 4.

I have 2gigs but I think if it's taking that long to load it's probably your CPU too. Do you know what kind of a CPU you have?

500meg at high quality, no problemo. I have 2 gig now => 500 for sro, then 500 for Vista, + some other progs => 200mb and i got still free space for another game :D

I ran pre-Euro with 256 MB RAM, which was pretty laggy. After upgrading to 512 MB RAM, pre-Euro SRO ran very smoothly. After the Euro update, I lag again with 512 MB RAM, so I suspect 1 GB will run things smoothly. (Also note I run a 1.8 ghz CPU.)

the x200 is a share memory graphics. So basicly if you have it set at 128 you will have YOUR RAM-128 as your total ram.

You can change it. I personally find RAM is more important than graphics ram, so I have mine set to 32mb. Which means I've got...480mb ram? (quick maths :S)

I have the same card in my laptop. I was playing for a while with it this afternoon. And it became reallllly slow. It took at least 5 minutes to load hotan where as when I first started it took less than 10 seconds.

I'm hoping to get some more ram too ^_^ Tell me how it works out.

i have a 512mb videocard, 1gb ram, and a 3.0ghz p4 processor. Runs smooth on all high graphics settings... it would probably be flawless with 2 gb ram.

E6750 at 3.0 GHZ

Patriot Xtreme PC6400 2 GB RAM 4-4-12 800 Clk speed

ATI 1900XTX 256 MB video card.

Corsair 600 W PSU

and yet I still lag ingame LOL. I think its the server that is farked.

PS. Check your PC for spyware.

I got a question, my pc is pretty old, with 512mb ram, I can run sro, its pretty smooth out away from towns, but around a lot of ppl like in towns or on big trad runs/job wars its pretty laggy, like it freezes or a few seconds and stuff. WIll just getting new ram help that a lot.

More than likely no. It wont be enough.

Ram is what holds what loaded. The game has to be loaded either way, so the rest will be put into a swapfile (much slower than having that capacity in ram).

But anyway. If its slowdowns from a lot of things on screen. Yes another 512 wouldn't hurt you. But you would need a new graphics card, and a pretty decent one at that.

All that text/char models needs some pretty heafty power to be rendered without any lag at all.

Another 512 wouldnt hurt, but wouldnt it help with slow loading and stuff if I just switch the 512 I have no with 2 new 512? The ram I have now is like 3 or 4 years old.

Actually RAM will help a lot if you're experiencing lag where it is populous, such crowded cities or big trades. Even Adding 256 MB will make a noticeable difference.

A little off topic - How many of you guys read SRF while the game is still open?

I recently (this morning) upgraded my RAM to 1.5GB and really enjoy chatting on the forums and playing the game at the same time.

To all of you with 512 - I recommend getting an upgrade because with the euro (especially if you have a euro char) update, you're going to need the extra space for all those botters/annoying people in town. I still lag while in town, but it's not at severe (taking at least a full 3 minutes to get out of town, then the distance to the training area).

Yeah it'll help, but getting a newer graphics card will help a lot also. Especially if the one you have right now is really low.

I use a 256mb radeon 9250 I think, its kinda old too lol >.>, i'll get a new pc before I update that, probably cheaper just to get some new ram for now :d.
