Botters can use botted accounts. Fair to legitimates?

Joymax recently blocked the use of illegal clients, which is a step in the right direction. However, one knows from experience that simply patching clients is not a solution towards stopping botters. Joymax has allowed those who botted their characters to continue playing on the same characters, so long as they use a clean client. However, is this fair to the players who have been playing legitimately the entire time?

Well...it may very well be the only compromise available....

JM was very smart about it..no bans = no charge backs...players keep their chars...but no botting...

I'd find it an acceptable sacrifice *if* botting was discontinued...

But, no...its not particularly fair....

Double at that..... But whit or whit out the block... there are still the lv 80 SoSn players which boted.....

I would give anything to do an 2 star and not being killed by an lv 80 whit an SoSun wep.... :(

It's not fair.. because by not banning botters in a prompt strict and enforced way JM is showing the community that botting can be done with ease and with little worry, thus allowing the bot situation to spread rampantly like a disease. Once again Bots = Cancer.

They say that every 2 hours on globals and the servers are still populated... Maybe they still didnt find out where will they find new places for dl... So its better to not post links of places where you can get bots.... (Its also against the forum rules)

Well i was happy this morning..... But now i know its going to be only an short time...... *Sigh*

I do have to agree here. Maybe instead of banning the lvl 80 sun botters, strip their accounts clean, delete their inventory, storage, gold, just leave a naked lvl 80 player standing in hotan. Make those botters have to buy equipment in the messed up economy they helped create. After all, the botters wouldn't have all that uber-fancy equipment if they weren't botting.

Joymax would have to do something about gold buyers as well.....

no its not fair! i wish the Huge Botting Inspection was a suprise so botters couldnt prepare themselves.

There was nothing to prepare for. Nothing happened to them.

not that smart ... for botters, if they cant bot, why cant they charge back still? just ban them ... no brainer. once majority legits, and stays that way for a while, more legits will start spending on silks again.

dun forget that many silk buying botters were once legits.

do you really think joymax stopped botting by this weak attempt ?:D

Because they'd would definitely be banned if they charged back, this would be JM giving them the opportunity to clean up themselves...Which would be less of a hassle for JM to deal with then if they banned several hundred or a thousand (hypothetically) and had to deal with all the charge backs for it...

If you ban all the botters in SRO, you loose a rediculous amount of silk buyers, and I doubt many would come back to the game if they had to start all over. The "Legits" wouldn't cover this loss all too quickly and thus JM would loose a shitton of money. Easy solution: stop the botters from being able to bot, thus keeping the majority of the silk buyers in the game. Whether or not this is fair or not isn't something you have much to whine about... JM stopped the botters [well... attempted, we'll see how it goes in about 2 weeks], the grinding spots are better now, and the economy should settle down a bit again. Just give it sometime... once the 90 cap comes around, and this solution ends up being permanent [which I doubt], you'll have to start on a "clean" slate for the race to lvl 90.

It's not fair of course, but I'm glad they took a step in the right direction.
However, how long will it be like this? :(

They need to update this 6+ times a month at random for it to matter much at all. Make it annoying to reinstall a new bot client over and over and maybe some people will actually stop?

Even though I'm not a supporter of bots, and HATE getting ksed and talked down to by people who didn't actually play their chars 100% of the time.. I have a lot of capped friends who did bot, and i'd be sad to see them go.

[Edit by Soda - No need for names] so on. =/

Bet your feeling pretty lucky they didn't ban all the lvl 80 botters, eh? At least you made it to 80 before you had to start grinding yourself, right?

And what are you basing that question on? I'm not really seeing anything in his post that hints at him being non-legit.
Provoking flames will get you eaten alive by a mod. Might want to.. you know.. not do it.

Um, well I do actually play on the server, and wander around talkamakan all the time. Believe it or not, I have seen Nyahgis the great following spot to spot that all the other high lvl bots hit. ^____^ So whether I am flamed by mods on here or not, we both know the truth. ^____^

For God's sake people, can't you read?

Hello. This is Silkroad Online.

A patch regarding [ Bot & Hacked Client Block ] has been applied in order to create a clean gaming environment.

As this patch has been applied to wipe out bot programs and hacked clients, legitimate users using normal clients will not experience any problems logging on to the game. However, users that use abnormal or hacked clients & bot programs may only log on to the game by installing an unaltered normal client that has been newly downloaded.

After the application of this patch, we will wipe out any bot & hacked client users.

well botters will answer yes it's fair and the other players will say hell no is not fair...but taking into account that the botters buy premium ticket and many other item mall stuff joymax can get rid of them because the botters are the main source of income....this i think is just a compromise between botters and sro and untill the boot program will be updated we will be able to play clean and the prices will be lower...but this wont take long because some are bot addicted and thy will do anything necessary to use that prgram again and level up faster and easier...
