Well, I'm being forced to temporarily retire from SRo/SRF.
A while back, my hard drive in MY computer just died.. and the computer i've been using is screwed. Constantly crashes since we put in a new graphics card (which was supposed to be backwards compatibe?) and now it won't boot. Tried reformatting, but it won't even boot to the windows disk. Wtfux? I'm gonna end up just buying a new hdd and graphics card for MY computer I think.
While we're trying to figure that out.. I'm not gonna be around because my mommeh has a guild to take care of and won't share the computer
So.. laters for now peeps. Love you guys<3
I'll be back on Greece and Odin soon.. I hope.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that.
I had a hard drive die on me once. Lost all my data when that happened. It was a real pain. (By the way, if your still looking for a hard drive, avoid Western Digital like the plague, imho.)
Best of luck to you with that.

Tried reformatting, but it won't even boot to the windows disk.
Two things:
A- Have you checked your BIOS to make sure that it's setup to allow booting from CD?
B- Have you tried a linux live CD? You can get Ubuntu CDs for download free, or even sent to your house through the mail absolutely free (not even shipping and handling, although it takes a few weeks) from
http://www.ubuntu.com/ - and SRO works extremely well in WINE. It's not perfect, but other than a couple minor glitches it behaves just like it should (only problem is with running it in a window, but meh. Full screen is more fun anyway ;D)
Even if you don't stay with Ubuntu for the long term, it's better than having no computer to use at all, right?

Go with Seagate if you go with a new drive...lasts for a long time, then again this WD in mine has lasted 4 years and not a hiccup

hard drive from the computer you've been using into your one where the hard drive is bust.
should be a temporary fix with a more stable machien until repairs are possible

This, assuming the old hard drive is compatible with the new (Not putting an IDE HDD into an SATA mainboard for example) could work. Although you will have to erase the old HDD too most likely, to reinstall an OS and get everything working properly.

http://newegg.com
awesome website for computer parts, extremely cheap. Chances are you r gonna find the cheapest hardrive there (and it won't be some off brand name)
I bought my graphics card there for 50$ and im currently running sro on high settings(no shadow, cuz shadow is gay) at an average of 70 fps.

No........ you need to get back into action soon to redeem the gift you won in the contest.
If you live in the US, I'd get a friend of mine who works inside a warehouse to send you a nice big new hard drive for free

She is right though... way back in the old days I spent too much time in this game. She show me how great life is when you don't spent too much time on the computer controlling a character in a fantasy world. You can have fun, have a life, and be very competitive (or be the best) without putting much time into the game.

Sounds like a power supply problem..
if you just installed a new video card it's power consumption is most likely a good amount... so in return..
Underpowered..
Random Crashing..
Causing file tables in hard drives to corrupt
check the power supply ^_^

Have you tried an Ubuntu LiveCD? It might work. Might as well try it, a CD-R is only worth about 25 cents nowadays.
