How to resist the temptation..

I was just riding out of Donwhang while I spotted a (quite famous) group of 70+ on Persia server, I saw them chatting with each other, just like that in public chat they discussed botting (look at chat)...
http://img256.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 375bh3.jpg
Now the goal in this topic is no bot/flame war, everybody knows the bot problem and stuff but I have another question...
Are there any people in here who actually became lvl 80 the legit way?
And if yes, how do you manage to resist the constant temptation of not going to bot yourself???
Wherever I grind, there are mostly only bots, and the higher I come the worst it gets, but now I think Im losing it myself as well, it just seems all so pointless to grind between bots, why should I grind while I can bot?
It seems like almost everybody does it.......
I dont want to fall to the darkside, so can anyone help me to resist the temptation? Give me some tips on how to stand ground and say NO to botting??

I can give u a hint how to resist...
1. This is the game where u meant to have fun.. so whats the fun about not playing?!?!?!
2. Im not 80(yet) but i can say u not impossible to gring without bot... Its actually much more funny and tense... u get emotion in doing this... IMHO.
Well actually i give u 2 reasons hehehe
Hope it helps u keep legit all the way... If not play for fun... play for what??
Yours,
Len

tbh all the lvl 7x-80's I know bot or have botted. Some people are even open about it like in your pic. Some even say it in globals. But these people never get banned when the ban lists come.
Basically you have to make a choice...cheat to 80 and take a 5% chance of getting banned; Or don't cheat and get carpal tunnel syndrome.
But botting is evil. I would never bot and neither should you. =)

if i need to resist temptation, i try find mobs that are hard to kill, so it keeps me busy staying alive than to worry about bots.
but ofc, uses up pots v. fast

i dunno how i may help you not to get tempted. But if you make your game a little more fun, adding a lil bit of spice, taste everything bot not botting, yes you would level slow but you'll never noticed how far you gone from all your undertakings when you realize until you are almost level 80.

always seek fun in playing.

Just keep yourself busy. You can make a lot of money just looking for deal in stalls and stuff. Just don't get mad that people higher than you can kill you.

+1, It's fun when you get kinda bored of grinding so you get a bot murder status.
Some other things i do to resist temptation (so to speak) is never try to compare myself with how bots level because after all they're just cheaters and i perfer to go at my own rate and realizing that if i get so bored/tired of the game (and the grinding element) i'm just better off quitting than getting sucked into that stuff.

I feel ur pain.
I can only play a few hours a week due to family and work commitments so long after most of you guys have gotten bored with the game and moved on I will still be grinding away at about level 60 or so
It's the same no matter what game you play though, there are always cheats looking for shortcuts.
Play for fun, if you don't enjoy the game then don't play, it's that simple

Omg, a 81 on Persia already! Damn them!
What can you do? If the GMs would play their own games one day and stand around each town for 20 minutes, I think they would ban at least 100 accounts.

Think that is good? I had screen shots at one time of 2 different botters at 2 different times getting coached by other botters how to play their newly botted characters. You would think by the time you are 70+ you would have some idea how to play your char. One was in heaven guild with lillazianboyz and the other was in 420.

I turned level 80 at exactly 11 months after I created my char, without any bot.
my motivation: the satisfaction/pride of having a char at max level without cheating
whoever knows me at olympus knows that i don't bot. though i got friends who bot, i was never tempted to bot my char. the fear of losing it coz it got banned is greater than going to the dark side lol

I did hardcore sp farming at level 69 before level cap was raised to 80. went 0 gap until I got to level 72, sp farm again, and when I had decent sp went 0 gap until level 78 and then again, sp farm. LOL I'm level 80 and I still need more sp for dual weapon ^_^ with the help of GT and skill GT, I hope I can get as much sp for it....

11 months with 3 SP farming stretches in your build...

Did you only farm like 2k sp each time or what? I dunno, sounds kinda fishy to me.

here's my build (current), not much sp is required:
level 78 bicheon
heuksal 50 (with passive skill only)
pacheon 40
light 60 (buffs and passive)
fire 70
hmmm try sp farming with GT on so you'll know what i'm talking about =)
p.s. for about 8 months i play everyday at least 4-5 hours (and whole day when i don't have work)...
and oh yeah, sounds fishy? ^_^ come to olympus and see for yourself. if you'd like, watch me whenever im online ... blah blah flame me if you want XP
btw, i only have 1 char... i dont have 2 characters just like you... and I never had SOX items (possibly because i don't grind 24/7)... LOL

Resist temptation by worrying more about yourself instead of what other people are doing ... and learn to laugh more.
I should get level 65 by the weekend or so with 4 masteries at 60 (pacheon, light, fire, and force) and have been playing since September. This is all with being basically clueless the first couple of months (I didn't buy potions at all for example but would sit down and "rest") ... messing around with trade runs ... and wasting time on forums. All while being legit.
There are a few people in my guild with higher levels that are conmpletely legit also. All of us have work and/or school and family and friends and "lives" and only play a few hours a day. So please don't buy into the idea that you have to bot to level on SRO.
I see Kutsara around on Olympus and don't particularly like him/her (grrr grrrr ... so call your level 70+ friends to kill the lowly 50s

those were OUR trade goods lol) but I do agree with what he/she is saying and do think what he/she is saying is true.
And besides, in the long run, being legit is much more fun.

I know a lvl 79 that is legit...but she grinds at least 12 hours a day. It's sad really. Someone once told me that If you dont get 3% an hour at 79 you suck at grinding...what a loser

I am 74 on my other char and trust me...3% an hour at 79 and you must be dreaming
To bad some of us have lives

i mix sro with work and "me & family/friends" time that's why i dont get much sleep ... i am totally into the game but only because my friends are playing it . . . you don't particularly like me coz of my friends? now that's weird...

i don't thief around killing low levels, i kill hunters my level or join job wars at dw... if you don't see my at job, you will see me at takla grinding.. that's all. click on me and you'll see thief level is only level 1!!
at level 79, without GT, i get around 3% exp for grinding at least 3 hours....
p.s. i got my first char at babel (only level 47) and left it when I moved to olympus. so practically i know how to play the game that's why i was able to level up faster

A lot here are legit 80.. I can call myself also 1.. The temptation is always high.. But i play this game cuz I like this game.. Why should I let a bot play for me?
I also made a LEGIT guild + union and now a second union.. They keep you motivated to NOT bot

And being proud on something u did.. Yeah that pwns

Well as I reckon it is hard to become 80 without botting, I actually know someone on Babel that is lvl 79 without any botting.
He's been playing sick mode.
He's my guildmaster and he RoxInSox!
