Lol, I was just thinking about how silkroad has helped me learn some real life things. Here it is. Post things that you have learned from silkroad that apply to real life.

Economy:

First of all, you have to know the prices of things if you want to buy and sell. By knowing prices you know which things are a good deal and what isn't. You also have to start small. Sometimes investing in small things can help you to invest in bigger things later. At first you will need to make small profits from your small income. Once you build up income you can make larger sums because you have larger income. Buy cheap and sell reasonable. You don't have to buy something cheap and sell for an enormous amount. This will waste time and you will be trying to sell the item for a long time. Sell at a reasonable price. Then you will have that extra money you gained to buy something else and you won't have to waste time.
Attitudes of people:

Usually there are two different kinds of people. The ones who want personal gratification and those who want to help others. Make sure you absolutely know a person before you confide trust in them. Even so, watch out for signs of disloyalty. If they are someone who likes to help others while helping themselves they will earn their trust. If they want personal gratification they will usually try to be-little you and take what they want from you for their own benefits.

Plan Ahead!:

Make sure that you know what you want and keep at that goal. If you make a pure str bow and are level 52 and decide you want to become a nuker it is pretty hard to just change. Make sure you know what you want and stick to it.

Helping others is not always bad:

When you help other people they tend to help you. It is also always nice to have someone to talk to or just for extra protection if someone is nagging you. When you help others you will make lots of friends. Everyone benefits from being a friend with another.

Complaining about your situation gets you nowhere:

When all you do is complain or try to rely on others to get where you are going, prepare to be dissapointed. Ghandi said, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." or something like that.
Doing things yourself will be a lot faster than relying on someone else.

Add anything you want to funny, stupid, or crazy.

*haha, this could be a great excuse for playing the game, I should tell my parents this.*

Well, there are 12 year old kids on this forum I think. Maybe they will learn something from it.

as far as Plan Ahead goes , I dont see how this helps me outside of the game hehe

Actually the Economy lesson can come on any MMORPG there is. Back when I played another one, I wanted a new set so bad that I spend everything I had on it. However, it didn't turn out to be much more powerful, and that let to my economical ruin. Then the game went P2P and I quit. I try not repeating that mistake again here on Silkroad (SoS are NOT cool).

Your advice about buying low and selling reasonable is excellent. People think that resellers are responsible for the price increases but smart resellers don't buy low and sell high, they buy low and sell at a price that will go quickly but give them a nice profit.

If you follow your advice about doing your shopping and buying cheap, then the fact that you use your gear for only a week doesn't matter. If someone is selling a 3rd degree SoS bow that will use up all of your 3M gold and you'll out-level in a week, so what? Buy it and when you are done with it, sell it in 30 seconds for 6M.

So if you want to use that analogy for real life, what you should do is to get a good idea what cars sell for, scan the classifieds for good deals, buy the best-deal car and use it for your vacation road trip and sell it when you get back home. There. That's my advice.

If you follow this point in life then you're doomed to failure. In all walks of life you have to rely on other people to do things, it's called team work.

The reason this game doesn't teach this at present is that it's 95% a solo MMORPG i.e. you can get to lvl 80 (current cap) without any interaction with anyone else. Ok so stalling can be classed outside of this but if you go afk you'll just like a vending maching, insert money and take item.

If you try to do everthing yourself in life you'll soon find you cannot complete everything within the time you need to do it!

Well, that just depends on where you are in the game. At the cap, when it first went up, a level 64 SoSun weapon was worth 2 bil gold, a 77 chest was worth about 25 mil, a 72 weapon about the same. The cost HAS depreciated. You can just wait and get a good one later when the prices go down some (ie, buy a 2007 new car when the 2008 come out), buy new when it comes out and face the serious depreciation of value but have uber leet weaps NOW (ie buy the 2007 in mid 2006 to have the blng bling car hot off the showroom floor) or get drop or buy white and improve it with stones (buy a rundown classic and fix er up yourself therefor tripling its value). The car analogy works very well.

Your 3rd degree SOS is kinda the car equivalent of a used 2004 Ford Focus. It doesnt change in value because they are everywhere, everyone has one for sale, they are as common as pennies. Bad comparison.

That is a good point. What I meant by doing things yourself is don't rely too heavily on others. A person I know in silkroad just wanted me to power level him when he was playing. He would trace me and sit on his horse. I did it 2 or 3 times and he became heavily dependant on me. He wouldn't grind himself and wanted me to grind for him. He would have leveled faster had he killed his own mobs. Sometimes we can get into the habit of leeching off others. I am not saying it is bad to have others help you. It is just bad to rely on them to do everything for you without you holding up your own weight. (reminded me of the mother hen story)

plus you don't really have to "lose" money when you buy low level sos. even if you sell it cheap, you can always still NPC some random shitty white drops. so you sell sos for a mil less in 30 secs but along the way, you've earn about 3mil worth of NPC-ing stuff, alchemy and gold drops.

i believe in selling cheap!

He just said that that kid was just spamming none usefull things to get a bigger post count. If you looked at other threads he posted in you know WHY chaby posted it.. He did spam each topic last night with NOTHING usefull in it!
