My "truth" about SP farming.

Ah! A thread where people will be encouraged to flame!

Here's my vision about farming. I will admit, right away, that it is a pretty darn negative vision of it, but it, according to me, pretty right down to the truth of it.

SP farming is about botting is about cheating in this game. Most SP farmers are cheaters because, who do you think would spend months on end (say you do not buy a GT) killing the same monster over and over and over and over and over and over and over... well you get the point.

You repeat the same action, always, always do the same thing and at one point, you must wonder "Well, if he's legit... where is exactly is the "game" aspect of this game when you do the same thing for 3-4-5 months at a time?".

Ah! They buy SOS/SOM, powerful lil buggers of items, usually bows, and again you wonder "But where the heck do they get the gold on a starting character?". Easy my friend! They buy the damn gold from gold sellers, another way of cheating the system!

So... you have the botter... you have the gold buyer.

That's how this game works mostly, in most area I train, around 50-70% (conservative numbers) are bots with SOS weapons.

In fact, most "players" in Botmax are botters, so you get to fight against a person who pretty much botted their sp farming, botted to their level and just "really" plays their characters from time to time.

The truth is, you do not have to SP farm at all in this game. OMG! What the hell did I just wrote? Eh! No, you don't need to farm, but power hungry botters will tell you that you MUST SP farm, there's no way around it. Yes there is, keep a decent gap between you and your masteries throughout the game, you'll always be weaker than those power hungry cheaters, but you'll be legit. You'll have the satisfaction of having worked your character yourself, having done the hard work yourself, knowing that when you own someone, it's because YOU did the work.

Ok, yes, not every SP farmers are botters, not everyone who starts a character even on the same server is not a cheater, some actually know how to make money fast, even at low levels, it's possible to eventually gain the millions you need to buy yourself that SOM for your farming gallor. Of course, you still need to cheat the system, you need someone that will stand there and res you on regular basis so you go back down to 16 again and again and again.

See, the truth is they are many players here who have gone the deep end into being addicts of this game. They will tell you that you MUST be this or that, and that you MUST do this and that. You must be pure this, you must be hybrid that, you must use this imbue, you're nuts if you spend your SP on this type of force spell, etc.

In all actuality, if you simply look at what they write, you begin to think there is no gaming part into this so-call game they play.

Be yourself, do the things you want to do, you make an error? What's the big deal? We all make errors, nothing is perfect in this world. Botters are people that don't like to make mistakes, meaning they aren't quite human eh? They like the power, they like to see themselves own monsters with one hit. But is this game about 1 hitting monsters? This game is... a game, it's suppose to be about fun. Oh! I will admit there isn't much fun when you're playing against botters of course, Botmax, but... still, play YOUR game, the way YOU want and don't cheat, be legit, and you will have the true satisfaction of a kill.

Falme away!

oops... flame away! ;)

I agree...when i was farming at stronghold...i farmed only 20k SP, why? Because there was impossible to farm, you are surrounded by botters...

ShaKarl from RedSea, he is fully farmed thx for his bot, Medic, from RedSea too, there is some videos on youtube.com with Medic farming with bot...

So, IMHO, legit farming is stupid, because you suffering all that when others enjoying that...and yes, i'am stupid, like other ligit players.

Being legit in this game means you must accept being weaker than most. Once you accepted that fact, you realize that isn't quite true, you can be still very powerful, you realize that you have these items because you sweated for them.

Looks very nice, these shiny SOS, but if most people who holds them are cheater, the hell with the little shiny item, and the hell with the 1 hit monsters. I'm having fun at flowers right now, not 1 hitting them at all, but I'm having fun because I go legit, and when I get a drop, I smile because I worked hard for that drop.

These "power" hungry people, these power guides made this game botland, why do you think they are so many bots at stronghold? Because people get more and more power hungry, and eventually, you see that it becomes tedious to repeat the same action over and over again.

The more power guides are written, the more people are encourage to bot in this game because they feel they made a mistake, they feel they will never have this dazzling power they SHOULD have. But when you realize that you SHOULDN'T actually have things on the soul basis of a SHOULD. Just play the damn game.

Buy gold? Encourage cheating, bot yourself? Encourage others to bot. Keep saying people SHOULD SP farm, pretty tell them to bot.

OMG if you wanna be a noob and be legit and be weaker than everyone then so be it.

if you wanna be a fckn loser who wastes weeks of their lives killing a monster for sp then so be it.

if you wanna be a botter and go party while a program does boring work for you (like calculators and math) then so be it.

if you wanna be all powerful without having to work so you buy gold to have leet gears then so be it.

but who cares really, everyone just bitches are everyone else. just shut the f*ck up seriously this is turning into SRT, flame flame flame flame.

i am for being legit, i dont know how bots work nor will i ever want to use one. 0 gap to cap ftw, who cares if my skills are low. In the end when i come across a fully farmed lvl 52 and im lvl 80 with lvl 52 skills, guess whos gonna get owned? HIM.

so stfu.

Once you get mid 40's you will see that farming is necessary.

Then you will come back...and delete this thread.

Nothing is -necessary-, nothing at all. What becomes "necessary" is that people keep seeing that power is fun, and so they get more and more power hungry. To a point where power is the goal, but when you have this power (I saw a guy write once that he had 700 mil+ and everything SOS+9), you're all alone up there.

Again, you can go all the way in this game, and accept the fact that you will have more and more difficulty at getting your new spells, but then again, isn't it the point of a game? Is the point of a game not that you grind? Is the point of the game not that your have to work hard for those SP?

You're right, 40, 50, 60+ it becomes utterly hard to get these spells, but it's not impossible and the balance is still there against the monsters. Albeit, against the players, not the same at all, but again, most of those players are cheaters anyway.

Flux, there's some people that actually enjoy grinding on a single mob for hours and days on end. There's plenty of legit 100k+ sp farmed people.
You repeat the same action, always, always do the same thing and at one point
You just described the entire game in that sentence. Sro is one large repetitive mass. There's nothing different from grinding on hyungno's or bunwhangs. You'll use the same skills, probably the same skill combination, over and over.

Every rpg is repetitive. You play so you can get stronger and experience new parts of the game. Thats how every rpg is so I don't understand wtf this dude is talking about. People in other mmorpg games think the same way as people here but its sro that has the bot problem. That tells you right there the bot problem is on Joymax end. They arent doing anything to prevent these bots from getting into the game.

I'd have to disagree there, you'll have just as many cheaters on other games.

Recently, I left a online mmorppg which I played for 6 years. You had scripters, you had Chinese gold farmers. These were real players really playing this game but for no other points than simply collecting gold so that it could be sold off for real money.

In fact, I doubt, I strongly doubt that not one single online game out there isn't infested with cheaters to some degree.

As for the previous poster, I fully agree, grinding is grinding, but we have to compare oranges with oranges here. After you have your new level, you usually stop grinding at your current monster and move on to a new one.

SP farming grinding is something totally different, I wouldn't even call it grinding, I would call it automation. You grind on the SAME monster for months on end. You really call that the same grinding?

But again, I'll respect your point of view of course. And yes, again, I wanna make it clear (as I have in the end of my first post), that not all SP farmers are cheaters, just like... mmm.... 90%+ are cheaters. Doesn't leave much room for the legits sp farmers out there of course.

6 levels is a bit far off there, but yeah, if you keep a decent gap, you will understand that you won't ever get this power other players (mostly cheaters) have.

But then again, if you didn't have sp farmers, everyone would be playing on the same level, everyone would keep a constant gap throughout the game between level and masteries. It's greed that makes people bot... just greed.

I've played both games.. I grinded a lv80, not farming anywhere, simply opening a 3-4 gap whenever I needed SP.
I also farmed 140k~ sp on a lv16 / 24.. about half at 16 half at 24, i got sick of the bandit den :P .

Some people actually enjoy SP farming, watching the SP number go higher and higher ect ect. I really didn't mind SP farming 140k, but then again I wasn't farming 24/7.. only when I felt like it :P .

Money is really easy in this game with elements. People don't always have to buy their bows. A guild member or somebody could let them borrow a bow. Farming at 16 really isn't that difficult if you have a good bow. I don't bot or buy gold and I farmed just fine. People who farm get satisfaction knowing they can zero gap to whatever level they farmed to. When I closed my gap it felt so good to do it and move on I was so happy haha. And people tell other people what "must" be used because, sure it's a video game, but there's a lot of PvP when you reach higher levels and why wouldn't you want to be the best you possibly can?! I just think you're looking at farming really negatively. And I think playing against botters is fun. Sure it's annoying at times. But if botters are so perfect then that's just better competition for the people who try hard to be good. :)

Fire Leather from the Dead Ravine mobs gives you 8 wind 2 each!

As for the original topic, I see farming as a way to simply make your character more powerful. Sure, you don't NEED to farm at all. You can just keep a gap throught your whole SRO carreer. This is a game, and each player can choose how they want to play the game. Do you want to keep a 4 gap from lvl 1 to 80? Keep a 0 gap to 16 then farm a 9 gap from 16-20.... 16-20.... 16-20......? 0 gap to 32, 42, or 52, and do a little farming at each stage? Or maybe 0 gap all the way to 80 with a bow and then delevel your masteries to 71 and farm from then on when you're at cap?

Or maybe just don't farm at all. I don't see farming as cheating at all. That's like saying people that weight lift are cheating the system because they go the extra mile to make their body stronger.

As for making enough money, sure, there are plenty of ways to make good gold without buying it. I have sold plenty of elements and always have enough gold to buy an SOS weapon at each degree so far, as well as the occasional SOS shield.

Something tells me that you didn't read this whole thread. Some people LIKE to fight the same monster for hours. And all you do in SRO is a game where you fight the same monster over and over again in the first place. And if you have a zero gap, in my opinion, you're going to be fighting more of the same monsters because you lack necessary skills.

K I wouldn't even be responding to this post had you left out the part about grinding. It doesn't make sense. If you don't like mmorpgs then go play xbox live or something.

You wanna know why people bot though? 8) Because they still like the game but the way joymax runs this shit...it would be a waste of time to play legit. Thats why we have all these bots. You seem to feel the same way. If you really wanna bot go ahead...any botter will tell you theres a big chance you won't get caught.

But look...if you really wanna play a good game where you don't have to worry about all this hardcore cheating then try WoW. Alot of people say WoW...but its the truth. You don't see people cheating in WoW. And the few that do see a bot report it to a Gm..few hours later the bot is banned. You can play legit there and really feel like your time isn't being wasted.

Again, it is very much possible to play the game according to different standards of course. As for deleving, I believe this is not much within the "spirit" of the game, but that's me, old and conservative bastard :)

PR0METHEUS wrote:Or maybe just don't farm at all. I don't see farming as cheating at all. That's like saying people that weight lift are cheating the system because they go the extra mile to make their body stronger.

People who weight lift aren't cheating the system, I don't think your metaphor is working there, but I refine it a tad more, people who take in protein, people who blood dope themselves, people who shoot themselves with different chemicals and uses highly expensive illegal gear to get the muscles mass they "need"' those are obviously cheating the system.

I see SP farming mostly as a mass of cheaters, usually botters of course and thus I see it as mostly being a way to cheat the system so you get those "muscles" much faster.

PR0METHEUS wrote:As for making enough money, sure, there are plenty of ways to make good gold without buying it. I have sold plenty of elements and always have enough gold to buy an SOS weapon at each degree so far, as well as the occasional SOS shield.

And yes, they are plenty of ways, but keep in mind I was strictly talking about a new character although I wasn't all that clear about it being on a new server, you would have to wonder where a person gets that 7 mil for their SOM bow. Most... it goes without saying... get it from buying gold. As it is quite obvious you're not suppose to have 7mil at a very low level.

Why do you think I don't like online games? Is there somewhere where I said I don't like online games? I left a game where I played since 2001, I left it because SRO had a great deal more appeal to me, much better graphic. I love online game, not too sure where you think you saw me write about me not liking online games but you are pretty off the subject there.

BuddahBless wrote:You wanna know why people bot though? 8) Because they still like the game but the way joymax runs this shit...it would be a waste of time to play legit. I will -never- bot, and that means... n.e.v.e.r. Whether or not I would not get caught is beside the point for me, totally beside the point. For me, botters are the lowest life form of online games. They try and use this same line over and over again "Oh! but you always have to repeat the same thing". The hell with that! In work, since when you don't have to repeat the same gesture over and over again? In nursing, you will do, depending on your field of work, the -exact- same gesture 1000+ each day.

Does that mean that, because you repeat something you might as well take short cuts? It's suppose to be challenging, it's not suppose to be easy. Botters love short cuts, they love to take the easy path, but this is a personality trait of course, it shows where the person will go in their life and how they will act in any given challenge. And yes, online games are no different than real life, the way you act online may be a bit more amplified but it is you, and if you like to cheat online, you probably like to cheat in real life too (I say "you" in the general term here of course).

And no thanks for WoW, I like SRO, I don't believe that, if you have a problem with bots, you should be pushed off to another game, I think we all have to work against them, that is us, legit players.
