I remember right around the time I joined like 14 months ago, there was an announcement or event or something dumb like that where they were trying to choose people to be "silk assistants" or something dumb like that I dunno, I remember somebody posting here that it sounded horribly gay and semi kinky lol. But yeah, there's just lazy GMs that are never on and don't do anything now cuz they're Joymax staff and weren't hired to police the game so whatever happened to their proposed moderator system or whatever they were doing?

I was just thinking this the other day haha.

when gm's dont/can't even do anything, what makes you think silk assistants (lower status) will???

A guildmate at the time was SA but there wasn't much to it, pretty much a seperate part on the forum where they could discuss issues and gameplay with the GM's.

Think it just died out of sheer uselessness.

Also, the Gms seemed to pick the wrong ppl as Silk Assistents. They chose botters , who reported legits to the GMs and let the other botters go -_-

maybe they vanished into the mist?... I'm guessthat when the silkroad offical forum is fully up and running they might recruit new ones.

I think dew's own words were somewhere along the lines of:

Most SA's were breaking the T.O.S by botting or doing other illegal activities.

Ron_Wei or something one of the silk assistants in Babel botted... Lol .. sad :\

I remember them flooding these forums claiming to know all about the game and seeing the source code and sending up red flags of false hacks of sql injection.

After the smoke and mirrors vanish and most people figured out they were full of shit I guess the fun died off or Joymax let go of the useless forums. Since thats all it was was a single forum for them to chat with GM. They had no real time communication.

Yeah joymax did no background checks on the people they chose. One of the ones on xian got banned for botting shortly after he got accepted into the SA program IIRC. Though they did get lucky with some of their choices. If what I understand is true. One of the silk assistants on xian recently turned over leadership of his guild to a friend and moved to korea. I believe he has been known to post as one of the dews on the official silk road online net forums. As a result he is not in game very often. Though I do still see him around. He is in game as much as he posts on these forums anymore.

They seem to want to protect that identity though so I will not go giving out actual names. Friends have had their threads deleted when they mention it on the official forums. Even if they mention it in passing in relation to a larger topic. Anyhow since he does post here from time to time I am sure he will reveal himself if he wants to. In the mean time you can all try and figure out who it could be

well just for fun, ignoring the fact that ppl posting telling me what they really could and couldn't do...
1. it works pretty well in RS and how they pick level headed, non pychos out of that group of players is amazing cuz I sure never met one and 2. cuz if I was a SA, I'd sit at the jewelry seller in DW where it looks like this:

lol, the world doesn't work as easily as you think desolated...gms will probably not even give sa's any power other than the power to wine & cry to them all the time like most/all players...they'll probably find some reason to kick u off sa after sometime anyway
