the lucky stat confuses me

I had 4x lucky on an item that was +1. I figured yay, let's put it up to +3. It failed like twice but I finally got it up to +3. I used lucky powder every single time and I can't figure out why exactly the lucky stat went down some times and didn't other times. Does it only not go down when it fails? (I wasn't really paying attention, maybe that's it

) or does it only go down when the random number generated is in the extra luck margin. Like if it has 2 in 10 odds of working normally and 3 in 10 with the lucky stat, it only goes down when the random number generated is a 3? With ppl paying so much for lucky stones, I wanna know how exactly it works.

It goes like this (stats may vary);
without luckypowder/luckyattribute: 1/X
with luckypowder/without luckyattribute: 2/X
without luckypowder/with luckyattribute: 2/X
with luckypowder/with luckyattribute: 3/X
This may be totally wrong though, so my other shot is this;
weapon elixir => fail (luckypowder kicks in, gives it another shot) => fail (luckyattribute kicks in, gives another shot) => fail (luckyattribute down).
The luckyattribute is also down if it succeeds after first failing at the luckypowder, so.

I always thought it was 1/X - lucky so powder subtracts 1 and lucky and powder subtracts 2. But I think if you try and go to +2 with powder and a lucky stat, it can still fail which doesn't match up with either of our explanations
your stat reducing thingy makes sense though

Well, if we shall continue with that theory, it could be like this:
+1 = X/2
+2 = X/4
+3 = X/6
+4 = X/8
.. or it could be completely random, since I've heard people failing at +1 even with luckypowder.
