Taken from another RPG (Why buying gold is a bad thing)

This explains why buying gold from sites is a bad thing.
I was/am a player moderator on Runescape and got talking to one of these gold farmers. It turned out that she was a 13 year old girl making some extra money for her family. She had been playing for 12 hours straight for these rich syndicates who farm gold to sell on Ebay. Think before you buy.

Jagex > Joymax
(Jagex = the company that runs runescape)

How do you work that one out? Runescape is overrun with gold farmers. They say they're tackling it but taken from one of their own staff's mouths, who is a friend of mine "they say they'll fix the problem but the fact is, they haven't a clue how to".
Jagex think they're above everyone and the customer doesn't count for crap. They ban people with rules they made up on the day then expect people to not quit.
When I was first a Jagex player moderator, they used me to a point where I almost ended up getting hacked by one of their own staff. I quit RS for SR and am a lot happier here than I ever was on RS. So please explain how Jagex > Joymax makes any sense? One is no better than the other lol. The fact is, Jagex are corrupt.
The last line where they say they will soon have the problem fixed now that they are aware of it...They knew about it two years ago.

I agree with you here, I too came from RS and after 2 years of loyal playing and skilling, I gave up the bots and gold farmers have overrun it
aside from that everywhere you go are jerks calling you noob, fr00b etc.etc.
As problomatic as SRO is Im here to stay
SO
Joymax>Jagex

How bout
Joymax and Jagex both fail.

Only difference being that 75% of the people playing RS are paying customers. $5 a month x 75.000 people warrants better customer support and bot free gameplay.

I quit RS too after they banned 3-5 of my friends for "real world trading" which in reality was letting each other borrow party hats. Apparently getting a lot for nothing MUST mean youre real world trading. So after 6? 7 years? Whenever it started... I quit.
Silkroad is no better. Sure theres better graphics and cooler skills... but PKing (pvp) in RS was better as was customer service.
I lost the point I was trying to make... lets just all quit both

Atleast jagex does ban people who break the rules. Most player mods are a step up form players but the forum mods get more 1 on 1 with the jagex mods, which i know a fewforum mods and they do actually do stuff about it, and again atleast they try to do something

Wow, jagex are dumber than ever huh? Wow, using the black market and China in their speech and all, whining because people are making money off of their shitty free game, lol. I find it funny...
And to the guy that said Jagex>Joymax, LOL.
At least Joymax bans botters...jagex's security sucks ass. They can't detect bots for beans. How would i know, well of course i used to play RS and botted too, i used the same bot over and over again. I got from lvl 1 to lvl 47, then i quit because i failed to see the point of actually playing lol...
Anyway, jagex will have as much fun cracking down on gold merchants as much as joymax is having cracking down bots. Will they ever succeed? No. The only difference is that jagex doesn't support gold merchants because they don't get any profit, joymax makes money off bots, so some botters never get banned, or so i hear...

some people r sad, to play videogames for a living, it sounds good but after u watch that video, man, and that guy, the RS botter, u suck its people like u that ruin games for others, i played RS for months got to lvl 90 then gave up i too lost the meaning of doing pitty quests for what? to have a simple botter get things 4 million times better?
SRO is falling, many people r quiting. We blame it on the company, it them that dont do anything; Bullshit, its you, the dam player who bots, the guy who just payed 7 bucks for 10M, and after you did this you complain about the gold bots.

are you dumb? Do you not see how many bots are in silkroad too?, dont LOL at me and then make a completely stupid comment to follow up on your loling'
Jagex just stated they ban 8000 accounts
WEEKLY I don't think Joymax has even banned 8000 accounts since silkroad started.[/u]

They also don't have enough accounts to do that weekly. They'd do it for a month and have no more accounts left silly.

I quit RS a few years ago as well. I didn't want to pay for that game, and I felt that I was putting in my efforts into a fruitless system.
But Jagex does have a better structure than Joymax does. Jagex has moderators that interact, both with the higher-ups and regular players, seemingly more often than Joymax does. Jagex offers more customer support than Joymax does. They also address more than one problem and offer a solution, unlike JM one exposure of the "War with Bots."
Even though players know about these problems, as long as the moderation team doesn't show that they care, the players won't take the time to suck it up and hope for over 30 seconds.
I still like Silkroad better though. I find it much more entertaining.
Jagex > Joymax
Runescape < Silkroad

This is at 1AM...I think it is possible to ban 8000 a week, specially if those were gold botters who just remake the account.

yeah :\ Also, I think silkroad is a better game than runescape hands down, just customer service wise, events, update time, ect ect. If joymax had this kind of support...or even half the support blizzard gives then /orgasm over silkroad

My point is that yes, Jagex may ban 8k accounts per week but they tend to ban innocent users for wearing a friends rare item, they're then accused of RL item trading and banned. A few of my own friends were banned for the same.
A Jagex staff mod actually told me that they don't know how o get rid of the gold botters.
My other point was that, you buying gold encourages these sweatshops to stay in business. You may not care because it doesn't affect you directly but each and every one of us are responsible for our own actions. You buy gold, you keep these companies in business, you keep children working in these places. It's as simple as that.
I could care less about individuals botting, that's your call. If you download SR to sit and watch a programme do it all for you...your loss. It's the people who buy gold who I have a big problem with.

Gold buying kills the economy of the game period.
