nah it can happen without it.
people started getting this error after the one update where they made your clothes stiff.

Install DirectX 9.0c

the only reason softmod would create this is from running too many clients = your grapshics card cant handle it.
this can happen without softmod. you just need to update drivers and stuff. or lower settings.

Meh I don't use softmod for one, for two I updated the drivers o.o and got that gay error ~_~ ati's new driver and my card didn't get along.... think maybe I need directX 10? I already have DirectX 9.c installed...~_~ and I think Master_Wong was right think my card was to hot ~_~ after I shut down my pc and started blowing out the dust, I felt the card and it was a bit hotter than normal
Btw just because someone has some kind of issue doesn't mean they use softmod or any other bot... saying such a thing is just plain stupid ~_~ and can offend people that are really legit such as myself

I have NEVER used a bot client and never will.

Its a video card temperature isue.
If your card have more than a year you need to clean the dust in the heat spreader, also you can refresh the thermal paste and check the cooler, if you don't have the skills or don't want to do it for yourself, you can get some friend or a profesional for the task.

im not much of a computer wiz. how exactly do you remove your graphics card and is it serious or just more of a nuisance?

Open up your case, if you have a non onboard graphics card you can just take it out of the AGP or PCI slot that it is resting in (power off mind you).
