Computer Specifications question.

Note: i wasn't sure where to put this, if i should move it to technical help then please advice me to do so and i will.

OK , so as my sig states, my pc is broken and its out for repairs. So atm in on my OLD pc. And the specs are VERY close to that of the minimum spec

Min. Specification
CPU Pentium 3 800MHz or higher
RAM 256 MB
VGA 3D speed over GeForce2
Sound DirectX 9.0b Compatibility card
HDD 3GB or higher
(including swap and temporary file)
OS Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista

Ok so my old pc's specs are as follows...

CPU Pentium 3 650 MHz
RAM 128 SDRAM
VGA 3dx Voodoo 3 -2000 Graphics with 8MB SGRAM & TV OUT
Sound Creative Labs ES1373 64 voices stero sound
HDD 15 GB
OS windows 98

ok... now i do realize that my specs do NOT meet the standard, but my question is this. If i get an additional 256mb ram * which my mate is willing to give to me* will i be able to install and play SRO, despite the fact that i have a lower CPU than the minimum. Also if i get a 32meg graphics card * which the same friend is willing to give me* and if i can successfully install it, will it push me above the minimum specs???


i dont care how much pc lag i would get.... I JUST WANNA PLAY SRO!.. lol

i CAN play unreal tournament 2003 on here, so thats the only reason i thought that i MAY be able to play SRO.

I would install it and try, but i need to download SRO for this pc * 8 hours later* ... and i would rather get some of your opinions before i do it. Thank you all for helping.

WOW. Cant Believe some people dont have XP by now. But its ok. Your computer really sucked at first. Now your computer is average.

From my experience, If the graphics card doesn't meet the minimum, all you get on start up is a black screen.

I do have xp... on my good pc... which is dam broken


and i know this pc is crap... i got it eight years ago, it was my 1st ever pc... package deal ftw!

Trust me.. as long as the game works, i can bare ANY amount of lag

1st my ex becomes obsessive and engraves my name into her arm with a knife, now i have lost all hopes of playing SRO for a while..... NOOOO!!!


Well with all over dramatics aside, thnx for all the help. I guess that i will just have to find something else to do... maybe ill do some school work... kinda falling behind a little... on 2nd thoughts... maybe not

Don't just give up like that, at least try and see if it runs. You could always overclock your CPU and graphics card, that would probably work.

I like your optimism...

i will download it over night, and see how it goes and tell u all the results. I will also chuck in the new hardware and see what happens.


But i wont overclock anything, mainly because i have NO FRIGGEN IDEA! how to do it
