Proxy servers make it kinda hard to ip ban people.

When you noticed you were banned
How long you have been banned for

This could simply be a simple Dynamic IP conflict. At times when we ban people, they have large numbers of IPs. So it is possible that others might get effected. This has happend in the past, and it's been resolved.
