Soulution To Botters

IT SEEMS FLAMERS OR COMMING. SO I SAY THIS. THIS IS ONYL A SUGGESTION, NOT A DEMAND, I BARELY PLAY SRO.

I posted this on the Official SilkRoad Forums too. But I think I might get more responds here. So here it is:

er1c wrote:Hey SilkRoad Players,

I have a good soultion to how to stop Botters because it seems alot of people have been whinning, and crying about botters. Why dont JoyMax get ban the Botters who Bot 2 times? That would be easier. I dont know how JoyMax will get their I.P, but if you could, that would be good.

1st Time- A note sended by a [GM] Warning or Have a pop-up warnning when you try to log in.

2nd Time- Permanent I.P ban

I have no problem with botters. I only played SilkRoad for about 1 Month. But I barely play and Im level 13. Alot of people play 5 hours on weekdays and like 10 hours on weekends. Those people are Serious Gamers and most of them complain the most. Which is also a problem in most families that can afford computers and internet. Basically, average families.

MorningDew and SilkRoad Players , do you agree with my I.P ban idea?

I just got a response from the Official Forums, I found out that this idea has been suggested many times also. Heres what the dude said.

y_m1 wrote:the ban the IP idea is not new, it has been proposed numerous times...
most users however do not have a static IP but a dynamic IP which changes everytime they connect to the internet... for example in Germany the IP changes for 99 percent of the users at least every 24 hours.. and I do not believe it differs a lot in other countries. so an IP ban will not work in most cases.

Well, "y_m1" pretty much pwned your idea ;)

I, for example, get a new IP every 24 hours ... automatically, can't do anything about it ... static IP costs extra in GER and having one sux as long as you don't run a server or something ... and for that you can still use DynDNS-hosts ... so uhm ... they might ban me quatrotrazillian times, I would still return. Only solution would be to ban the whole IP range ... but that'd lead to big trouble because I am on the biggest ISP here and it would affect too many people who never did anything.

Plus you get around a static IP ban pretty easily as well, for a small fee you might get another one or you could even change your ISP.

So, for countries where dynamic IPs are pretty common your "solution" would lead to nowhere.

Only effective thing would be a hardware ban (like Punkbuster can do it), because that really hurts to buy new hardware / a new Comp just to play the game again. But since SRO doesn't need a key or too high system specs, it wouldn't be too effective as well. Most botters run a kind of server farm anyways I often think oO

So far from me.

Calearney, I'm not complaining about botters or Server Crowdness. I just have a suggestion. I dont even care about botters becuase I barely play SRO

BlackFox, this isnt stupid. Its only a sugesstion. I say it again, I barely play SRO, I dont care about botters. I just wanna give a sugesstion.

some people play on static ips that are being shared among thousands of people...there goes your ip ban idea

if you can bot and get away with it, more people will bot, there goes your warning idea

You are correct about dynamic IPs, but Punkbuster is a joke.

I didn't want to advertise it, I know that PB has alot of leaks as well ... that's why I said "can do".

not really iam banned for life from enemy territory i tried changing my ip many times didnt work they HD ban me only way to remove it is buying a kernal thing changer
PB does there job the have over 5k ppl banned for hacking programs and they constantly update

http://www.pbbans.com/mbi.php

and once ur banned your banned from any game affiliated with pb
lol
and here is how to unbanned urself
http://www.*******.dk/how-to-get-unbann ... dware-ban/
so no matter what gaming 3rd party program prevetion you use someone can beat the system and honestly it seems like sro is doing game guards job so maybe kick them and get PB

thats just bs, i focus on the replies themselves not who is posting them

you know how sometimes when a stall is bought out and the stall disappears, chars just standing/sitting around should be disconnected automatically after 45min of non-activity

like doppleganger who left his comp on to check whether 000000000 is botting or not is just taking up unnessary slot

If IP///Hardware bans aren't going to work due to their ineffectiveness, then in my opinion the best way to go about preventing large amounts of bots from functioning is to create user-input forms.

Whenever NPC is used, a simple mathematical equation is put up which requires an answer within say 15 seconds before a disconnection occurs. I think this option could also apply to the hundreds of AFK'ers that are present in the towns.

But ... then ... the average SRO player would be DCed although he plays by hand :/

Why? So long as you enter in the answer within ample time...

is it the end of sro ???

and the time to start searching for another game ???

joymax is destroying the game

first it destroyed it by allowing the bot

then it destroy by raising the lvl caps

which is harder and hrader to lvl up

i played till 70 without bot
i couldn't reach 80

that's in my old server greece

even with goldticket

i was just playing all the day till lvl 55 or something like that
when i was getting 0.1 and 0.2 per mob
with mobs higher than me
then it was a sh1t to lvl up
so i was just playing the GT time

i stopped for a while at lvl 65

then i started a GT again
from 65 to 70
that was ridiculous to lvl up
so how can i get 80

and then i'll more shocked when they rais it to 90

tell me how ppl will lvl up ?

i think u gonna spend 4 5 years to get it

and then......

cape 100 soon in Ksro

should i say ...........

oh yea .....
Ksro have bots

don't tell me that ppl get lvl 90 hand grinding

and what's else

it's the end of Isro and the continue of Ksro

they added legend 6

the siege castle to ksro

and we still in legend 3

so we have to wait untill they add legend 4 lvl 90 cape

and the new boss saytan or main shaitan

and then after some months to add legend 5 euro

and then we have to wait about 1 more year to add siege castle]

i'm single not married

should i tell my sons when i marry to play share with me on the same account ???
or may be their sons to continue the lvling ??

we have to wait about couple of years to see our Isro like Ksro atm

joymax is going to put an end to this game quickly

by delaying updates to Isro

by allowing the bot then banning them

by the FUCKIN ALCHEMY SYSTEM

sorry that's the best thing i can say about it

i wish i can say more but i'll be banned

we lose alot of money and alot of gold on alchemy

that game is ripping us

i found that sro is not funny at all

it's not a game any more

it's a war with many victims

all lose money

i don't have any objection to buy silk

but not TOO MUCH SILK

i don't want to spend like 4 thousand dollars on a game like some friends did

i better get another things in my life than spending my money on a piece of a ...... (u know it guys )

joymax shouldn't have allowed the bot

but they have to accept it by force now

or they have to stop raising the cape lvl

also they have to update Isro to be the same like Ksro and Jsro and other versions

that's the most popullar version

and get for them more profits than any other version

so it deserve to be good one like others ..

Stallers are not the problem. And the servers will always be crowded, at least until Jm finds a way to auto-block modded clients or something(not too familiar with this).

One of the statements Javan made (if i got it right) is that no one can get high lvl without botting :S

Then how do all the folks in my union do it? (We're in an anti-bot union)
