Should I stop or should I try again? Well here's the story....
I bought a lvl 52+4 SOS shield br 17 few blues
phy% was 0 made it 22%
mag% was 6 made it 22% xD
Int 4
Str 1
Crit 60
Dura 84% reduce
dura 120% increase
Bought it with these stats except the phy% and mag% i did that.
I bought it for 25m only XD so freagging cheap!
Then I thought what the hell I'll go for +5!!
Never had 1 single fail in alchemy so I just did it and FAILED -.-*
And the good news is I just took 4 more elixirs en voila it's +4 again xD
Now my question is should I try for +5 again? ><
BTW If anyone wants to buy im in babel server PM/MSG ColdNuke

shield elixirs are cheap, but you could always try astral.

From my experience if it went +0>+4 in 4 elixirs its definitely gonna go +5, even without astral.

I doesn't have Immortal nor Astral and I don't want to spend that much silk lol I don't even have silk, but I'm getting 100 silk soon for my new char for a squirrel (already got 1 dead) SO and again I don't want to waste my money for Astral...

Just as a heads up, if it doesn't have immortal, it could disapear if it fails.

Dura 84% reduce
The dura reduce is from the previous owner trying to +5 it. If he couldn't do it, chances are you are gonna have some problems too. However, 84% is pretty low, how much more can you screw it up? Well, 16% I guess is the answer to that. As long as you don't break it.

Going from +4 --> +5 on a weapon is a much more riskier process than doing it on a shield. I would say go for it and don't use item mall extras as there is simply no reason to.
Shield elixirs are so cheap, like around 40-50k each? whereas weapon elixirs are ranged from 200-250k each. This is why i would say no if you were plaussing a weapon but as it is a shield go for it mate, you seem to have good luck anyways so what harm could it do?
Remember! Only a g-a-m-e, no need to shit your pants if it fails!

Shield elixers are so cheap, just pile loads into it if you need to.
(about 200 on my lvl 1 sos before it went +5)

Dun worry, going from +4-5 WILL NEVER get your item destroyed because it doesnt have immortal. The worst it can happen is max dura drop if u dun have steady on the item. and.... dun spend silk unless u going for +7

Whats all this bullshit bout when going for +5 you loose dura? I've +5'd I'd say close to 50 seperate items Failed tons more.
NEVER and I repeat
NEVER got dura reduce.
It
ONLY happens
AFTER +5 when going for 6 or higer.

Solid proof priam
No but seriously. I done my fair share of +5'ing and failign and it never happend for me or anyone I spoken too. So that's possibly 200 items that never had anything bad happen going to +5.
Bs unless proven.
