IG Etiquette : a nice surprise

I'm level 42 and messing around nuking Bunwangs when I come accross another level 4X killing a giant. He wasn't killing it very fast so I Frosted it a few times and killed the spawns around him leaving him alone on the giant...
HE ACTUALLY SAID THANK YOU
Five minutes later he is on another giant, so I do the same thing. Again he said thanks and left two piles of gold, almost 5k

Sure it is not much to shout about, but in over 6 months of playing nobody had ever even said thanks, let alone left gold.
With all the old players giving up, it sure was nice to see that there is still some etiquette around. If all players were as friendly as my new russian friend SRO would be a nicer place to play!
Special shout to that player if he is on SRF

i do that all the time - i just pick up all the gold and actually trade the person... dont want that gold going to monkeys or random people scavenging - do a good thing and good things happen to you too bad most people dont believe in that sorta thing - its a rare thing but its always nice when it happens

it is so sad how different it is in the desert than it was for you at bunwangs... when i see someone i don't know fighting a giant, i KS it because that person is 90% sure to be a bot. if they raise a fuss w/in my first few nukes, i back off, but that hardly ever happens. if it does, it usually ends up in us having a conversation about how despicable it is out there, and then move off to grind further apart to stay out of each other's way (because bots don't KS people, people KS people.)
if i see someone from the BHA on a giant (which happens pretty frequently since there are like, a ton of us), the giant gets the full frost treatment like you described. i don't want any gold, just gimme a little winky face or some anime eyes and i'm golden :) ^^

I think that the person you helped out was just as happy as you to meet someone kind.
There are already so many mean people, it is nice to see there are still friendly people around.

I agree with Sui, the desert is terrible. However, I've been grinding there long enough now to know who is botting or not.
If I see someone legit I know on a giant, I will always go and kill the other spawns, and I always get a thank you.
Or if I see a giant and I don't have zerk I will pm them so they can take it, and hey do the same for me.
Sure, the botters outweigh the positives, but it still puts a smile on my face

Yeah, I get that quite often actually. If I run into someone taking on a Bunwang giant or any giant, and I can cast the circle, I usually put up a circle around them so they can take down the giant in peace, and I pick up the small mobs around them. 90% of the time they say at least thanks, sometimes a bit of gold.
I try to be as polite as possible when I play, and USUALLY I get people being nice back. If I kill some low level mobs as I'm passing through an area and get a drop, and there is an actual person there that could use the drop, I'll give it to them. When I was doing the liquor quest late and had to kill flowers again, I killed them so fast I was getting giant spawns all over, and since that was just slowing me down I would tell one of the lower levels they could have it, and give them a circle to fight it. They were ALWAYS grateful for that. It helped me with my quest because I just wanted the quest drops and the more I killed the faster I got them, and the lower level got to take on the giant for the exp.
The only thing that really irritates me, is when I res someone and they just go back to grinding without saying thank you. Last night I was riding to DW and a newb had died from a big mob of horses, and despite my better judgment I turned around, got off my horse, ressed him, and healed him. He just got up and started attacking the giant horse, no thanks or anything. I HATE that.

I have actually been ks'd to death by bots on and around the bridges above the dark ravine. its total bot central as you pass over the bridge to the black robbers and bowman. at least on Sparta....

I cant believe you found legits, so rare. I went out in the middle of the hyungos yesterday with a lvl 8 blade and started wacking random people. I found that 2 out of the 15 people i found were actually legit.
Who in the hell is lazy enough to bot at lvl 20?

Hyungo's are FILLED with bots, like you said. When I was doing the flag quest on those, it took forever because of all of the bots with KS on. I started doing the "hit test" on all of them too, and got a similar ratio of legit/bot. I am pretty sure they were all just gold bots, though, with dictionary names like Athlete and Programmer.

Well, I try to be polite but seeing as how most of the people around me are botters, I do it like SuicideGrl... Hit the giants a few times. If the person that had it before asked to not KS, I'll gladly stop and maybe even freeze it. Then I say "Sorry" and usually I get a "np" or "ok thanks" as an answer. Well, if I ask to not be KSed and the person stops, then say there was no problem too.
When slacking off on gates, I usually make a lot of friends because I'm polite to everyone, other than botters I happen to know.

There are nice/grateful ppl on this game, all you need to do is not wait for others to be nice for you to start being nice =) Yesterday I ressed a turkish player (not trying to sound racist, all I remember from him that he was turkish) he said TÜRKMÜSÜN which apparently translates to thanks, then he gave me a elixir =o

Yepp, the homeland is infested with bots...
I've seen people botting in the water ghost marshland, so what you say does not surprise me at all...

Similar thing happened to me. I was killing a giant bunwang, and this player asked if i needed any help, and i told him yes cause he asked, so i left him some gold=)

Ah that reminds me of the time a guy told me about a giant because he didn't have zerk. I killed it, and it dropped a weapon elixir, so I gave it to him.
Some of you from Avalanche on Greece may know him as Oden.

This is what i do also when im wandering on a trade, or hunting, and see someone getting mobbed. Most of the time i get a thanks, but when i dont, its not that hard to remember the name or guild of the player and think twice before doing it again.

i helped a thief with transport who was being mobbed by npc thieves, got thanks but i kicked myself afterwards for not noticing that im helping a thief instead of a trader
i don't like thieves

esp those that 1* pop.

lol SG whats with you using phrases all the time? in another post you just said "another one bites the dust" and now ur saying the guns dont kill people people kill people phrase >_>
bad ontopic:
it is nice to see things like that, but to tell you the truth im NEVER NICE! except one pvping.
one thing i hate so much is seeing high lvl ppl picking on the low lvls trying to pvping people their own lvl. so i go around killing them till they go away or stop. i cant stand that =\

My point is that it is sad that this is exceptionnal... I'm level 42 and this is the first time it has happened, and I don't believe that 95% of all SRO players are idiots/bots. But maybe I'm wrong.
I felt like posting it because I'm so sick of "omg botting sux" or "bye bye SRO". I actually enjoy the game, and IG etiquette makes it even better

Just a pity that all cool SRF members aren't one a single server

Haha..thats what i do. If i see somebody fighting a giant, i'll just kill the spawn around him, usually he think's i'll go for the giant after...so he swears at me. This shows rudeness towards me, so i just finish killing and ks the hell out of that mean person.

That's just god in disguise.
In all my years of silkroad (Alittle more than one

) Noones ever done that.
Although one time when I was lv 31, I was trading through dead ravine and ran out of hp pots, but was fighting a giant with no zerk, and a billion mobs were mobbing me. Then I said "Help, no pots!" and this guy healed me through until I killed everything. I think I gave him 15k or something, don't remember.
Yup ^ ^

In the den I always kill the bandits chasing the poor lowbies

. Lol I swear this one guy who was at least level 16 ran around for at least 2 minutes with bandits on his ass instead just turning around and killing them >>
