Can't login/update/anything...

Post by emoray »

When I load the game it usually loads the box, then 2 seconds later loads the button to connect, and all he updates on the left. For some reason though, randomly its stopped showing the connection button and is just staying on the first screen.

Anyone know how to deal with this? It coinsided when I started using a wireless usb adapter, rather than plugging into a router.

I've tried all the obvious things like reinstalling, but after the reinstall it won't even connect to the sro servers to update itself... :S

Thanks

Edit, when on the menu, if I click 'movies' it takes me the KSRO website, does it do this for anyone else or have I downloaded the wrong client, n thats why it aint connecting?

It should take you to: http://www.silkroadonline.net/dataroom/gamemovie.asp

Also, if you do happen to have the correct client, your IP might be flagged, like mine. This might have occurred during your switch from a land-line to wireless. All you have to do is:

Disable your ethernet adapter (NIC) via Network Settings
Disconnect the power to your modem
Wait 10 seconds
Reconnect the power to your modem
Enable your NIC
Start -> Run -> 'CMD'
Type: ipconfig /release
Press Enter
Type: ipconfig /renew
Press Enter
Retry your connection to the client
If all else fails go to Start -> Run -> 'notepad C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts'
Underneath the '127.0.0.1 localhost' add a new line;

Code: Select all

222.111.150.111 nprotect.nefficient.com
80.15.232.4 nprotect.nefficient.com

These IP's are old, though, so they might not be the proper solution, and I forget the new ones off the top of my head.

Good luck!
