Today, I found out that a couple of my good buddies use a bot to level up their characters. When I caught one of my buds botting, he ratted out some of my friends who I thought all these time were legits, and he sent me screenshots to prove it, and yup he was right. And sadly, one of them that I thought was legit have access to my account.

Is there no one out there left that is a legit high level? I mean... look at the ban list for Xian, many of the famous well known "LEGIT" anti-botters role-models turn out to be not what you thought. It seems like botting is becoming a normative social influence where people are being pulled in by an invisible force to follow the path of conformity.

Here are the reasons that each individual told me why they bot. Do you think I should accept these "excuses"? What should I do?

Person #1 He said he hates to kill 200,000 mobs to gain a level at 7X with a 4-gap and that he has no fun in sitting on his keyboard tapping the same key over and over again for hours on end.

Person #2: He's taking a 19-hour college course load so all of his time is devoted to school, working, partying, homework, so he said he had no time to handgrind and want to remain competitive in the game and not remain low level for ages.

Person #3: This person said he hand-grinded to level 68, but started botting shortly thereafter because he was sicking of constantly getting KSed by tons of botters in the over-crowded cave. He reasoned that it had been a year and Joymax didn't seem to care, so he joined the dark side. This person was a staunch anti-botters before he botted, but once he used a bot, he still pretended to be legit or else he was afraid he will be viewed as a hypocrite.

Person #4: This girl got tired of being pwned by botters who reached the 80 cap within 2 weeks, and to make it worse they trash talk her and called her a n00b. She wanted to quit, but then she was talked into by some1 else into using a bot, thinking it would be the solution.


I don't know what to do anymore. Should I quit this game since no one that is high level seem to be legit anymore?

I don't think that's a reason to quit. It's all about how YOU play the game. If you want to be legit, go legit. If you want to go botting, go botting and get owned by JM in the long end...

I can imagine that you are disapointed by what you know now... i would be to. But don't let it influence your style/idea's on the game.

Till now i'm like 100% sure no-one in my guild bots. Ok the guild is small and only like 5 of us are active but we are legit all the way. We have a level 77, a level 74(me), a level 69, a level 60 and a level 50 that are legit. 3 of them i know IRL.
We will never own anything if the bots stay in SilkRoad but at least we know that we will be strong as LEGITS. It's almost like feeling unique

I would say: hang on there, if you don't like the guild no-more get outta it and be a lonely ranger till you have found confidence in a new guild...

I never knew i'm gonna say this but i mis you. Yes the most legits on Greece server (and els where) has quit. Endless guild enc. This is because:
1. They have been hacked, And im sure they never used any third party programs. You know Yusuke he was a good guy.
2. The most guilds are not legit anymore. You know witch guild that are, i dont have to tell you. Catastrophe has a certent name.
3. The botters wont be punished, so the addiction to botting is high.

I say, leave the guild and ignore them. And don't quit SRO because of it, if you quit, it means that legits lose to bots. Stay strong man. Good luck.

Dont grind generals unless you want drops, go to snipers and hunters if you want drops.

That happend to me on Olympus some time ago. Been with them for ~4 months, every day we talked on teamspeak and if you then find out they botted, it totally screws you over and you feel really deperate. You know what i did?

I made a fresh start on a new server and found the leading legit guild, joined them. And now im farming at penons and i LOVE the guild, we have a female leader and our union is very good and 100% legit, our union emblem says "NO
BOTS"

On Eldorado that is.

Person #1: Then go play a game where you don't need to.
Person #2: Then SRO isn't the game for you. Try CS or RTCW. Better yet, study more and get straight A's.

What to do now? Well if you're high lvl and legit, be the beacon of hope for the low lvl legits and prove it can be done. Congrats on your accomplishment.

Not everyone is a botter, and excuses for botting are irrelevant.

If you don't want to Bot, great. At least you can say i got there by myself.

I don't bot too cuz i like grindring. It's fund when a bunch of mobs attack you at the same time

Just commenting on the problem. Yes there is still a BIG bot problem, but there are still legits in the game, just sadly they are outnumbered by bots.

And IF you are legit, you will still be standing when JM finally does something about the bots, so there is some kind of light at the end of the tunnel.

I know when I finally reach level 77 (which is my main goal now) I'll be happy, although I probably won't be there for some weeks or months.

This guy is really retarded. Only recently has he started denying botting. b4 he use to parade around with his full sos gear and how his guild pawned all (a bot guild btw). the jigg is up, stop pretending u aint foolin anyone.

I don't get it people say they don't have time to lvl so they use bots but if you don't have time to lvl then why are you playing the game?

i deleted a few bot accusations in this thread... not relevant to the discussion.

anyway, on Xian, my guild and union are just about the only refuge for legits left. we have to endure globals accusing us of botting BECAUSE we don't bot. we take abuse from most of the server because we remain pure. but we will not falter, we will not fail. we have nearly 500 people in the union, so sometimes on or two fall to the dark side, but when they are discovered they are gone. we may even kick an entire guild because 3 of its members ended up on the Xian list, even though they have already been kicked out.

it's not easy, but it's possible. don't accept their excuses. i have seen many good friends fall to botting. in most cases, i don't talk to them any more. it's like learning that they enjoy fecal porn or something... knowing that about a person changes your opinion of them, regardless of whether or not you want it to.

Your union seems to have the motives as our union. We recently kicked a guild from the union due to many reasons, with the final nail in the coffin that they wouldn't kick a member who bought gold (even after being told about it a week earlier).

Yes we are a dying breed, but we are stronger than any botting union just because we do communicate and know each others strengths and weaknesses. You can't get to know people by being afk 24/7

there's also something to be said for strength in numbers. if i need something, i can have over 50 7X players at my location in minutes. if a union member gets popped, the loot gets reclaimed, period. if someone is being KSed intentionally, 3 people are going red name on that KSer. 15 union guilds means 13 GLs w/ 5 mercs and 2 UL's w/ 10 mercs each should the need arise. bots are strong individually, but they have no sense of teamwork. we share a vent, forums, do huge events (and more than just trades, etc.), and are one big extended family. the black hand is everywhere... if you job on Xian, you will see it. if you cape on Xian, you will see it. if you grind on Xian, you will see it (unless you're afk :P). <3 the BHA.

I know that feeling. We joined an Union which seems pretty nice and there are lots of nice people in there, however I was disappointed when a couple of these friends of mine turned out to be botters. At least my guild is legit only.

You're wrong because it is very relevant. His topic is a waste as he is obv looking for a laugh at how many of you post. Delete the topic as its irrelevant to life.. in fact delete yourself since you can't see that.
