Oh i have a question realted to alchemy...
I heard that some people do their alchemy and enchants in the DW caves, their reason being thats theres less lag in there. (So they claim

)
So whats the deal? does lag really affect alchemy and enchanting?

the random calculation that determines whether it works or fails happens when it happens, it only happens once, and it doesn't matter how much lag is there unless you disconnect completely while it's trying to do the calculation. Dunno what happens then, probably rips a hole in the universe

well......i experimented a bit with this lag theory and......
if i do alchemy in town i got awful results and when i waited till say around 12 / 1 am GMT (this is the ONLY time i can login first time every time) my alchemy was much better.
im not saying thats a rule of course, only what ive found out and started to go with. i also like to cast a harmony circle and i have a nice spot, you can call it superstition but its been working.

LAG MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
you dont have to go to the caves, but just look up to the sky and zoom all the way in when you do alchemy so there is no lag.

I dont have programing knowledge, but I can't think of one good reason why lag would have any effect on alchemy.
It is possible that they could have programmed lucky spots like the caves are lucky and town is not, but again unlikely.
I think it all stems from the fact that when it fails there is a split second delay in the animation. People think this delay is lag so they blame lag on the failure.
Well theirs my 2cents

well, you can think that all you want, but i know for a fact lag makes a difference. go try it yourself. go into a really laggy area and try plussing something, almost 100% sure you will never get it past +2, and you will rarely get it past +1

Agreed.
SOOOO many other things go into alchemy not relating to lag.
So 100% False.

i really cant believe you people think lag doesnt matter, silly silly fellaz.

then you all wonder why you sux at alchemy.

I really find it hard to believe that you do.
edit: many people have their lucky areas, rituals or whatever. From what I've seen it's all random and until someone comes forward with a statistically valid test I won't believe anything else.

its simply because i have tested it many many times. and when i have no lag, alchemy simply works a lot more often.

There is 2 sides to this. They might have programmed that during a certain amount of time there are X successes and X failures. If there are a lot of people on, they might use up all the X successes and you are stuck with all the X failures. I have definitely had BAD times to alchemy and GOOD times.

ive been doing alchemy on my weaps and equipments myslef all the time.
sometimes it sucks, sometimes, its just like feeling you are on a winning streak but these places i chose were the place that i am all alone with no one else around.
so i cant say its lucky or lag.

I always alchemy just in HT anywhere where i just stand.. And i made a lot of nice things ( all gear +4 / +5 all blues, glaives +8 and +7, shield +7 etc.. ) So i don't believe in any LAG free place

i always do my alchemy after the update don`t know why guess it is just a habit when you once succeed couple times you think is due to something while it might have been totally random and when you succeed once you try to do the same each time but i don`t think it will help your success rate at all since everything is server sided i don`t think lag would affect the success rate of alchemy.
People tend to give a failure a name or excuse like each time they die in pvp scream lag or something like that
MY CAT JUMPED ON MY KEYBOARD kinda comments.

i only alchemy when the servers are on populated, and in a area where there is no cpu lag for me, especially away from the storage pot area. one thing i noticed doing alchemy, holding on fuse then waiting a few seconds or whenever you feel like releasing it gives a better chance of successful than instantly clicking fuse. it sounds odd but give it go and you'll see

LOL, do you sacrifice your live chicken before or after casting the harmony ring?
Yes, I do the exact same thing too!....I usually get way better results when it's less laggy. Also with the harmony ring too. And the moment you give up your 'secret spot' to someone, your alchemy stops being so lucky. Maybe all the superstition doesn't help the alchemy, but rather helps us feel better about the alchemy chances

well gee I only used about 200 stones to get my garment set to be the sickest ever assembled on the server. Trust me, lag doesn't affect it. They'd have to literally go out of their way to purposely code it to automatically fail if the result from the server doesn't come back. it is in fact coded to freeze up the alchemy window when that happens so don't worry.
