Server Events (by players)

So far i have seen the folowing events taken place:
* Server-wide trade run
* Hide and Seek (and receive an sos)
* Horse Races (and receive a price)
I have seen people trying to set up tournaments massive cape fights etc.
These are fair straightforward events which are fun. But maybe there is more to achieve... An event in phases eg. which does not only involve 1 part of the game, but maybe also out of the game quests...
A little straight from the sleeve example:
1. Start in DW. Take a specific road to Jangan on regular intervals players of a certain guild stand. Collect the first letter of their names and go to Jangan.
2. In Jangan talk to a specific player. He will give you the next quest (after you have pm'd him the first letters) being collecting 50 whatever from whatever mob (drops) Take a screenshot of these items and put it online on SRF. Once it is listed there you will get a pm in SRF with the next part of the quest:
3. Go to Hotan and search for the stall of player... Buy 1 line of whatever is in there. Keep this with you. The next quest is listed in his extra info in his stall:
4. Collect 10 elements of each of the folowing, once done, go to the bandit den and try to collect 5 mobs attacking you. Again take a screenshot and put it on SRF. Once posted here you again recieve a pm where you have to go next....
And so on, you can make several steps involving several parts of the game and out-of-the-game resources...
Is this possible? Will people participate? Maybe other suggestions of quests?
Globally, what do you think about it?

I think it would be a good idea. I like the idea of player-run events. It might be hard doing ones involving SRO and SRF. I know when I'm in-game, I don't come on SRF, or really any other website because it lags the game a lot. Others might have the same difficulty.
You could still do multi-part events that deal with different things in the game. Maybe have them do some form of hide and seek. Search the general Jangan area for a player. You can get specific clues from members of a specific guild. Once you find the person, they give you something that you must take to maybe someone in hotan, in a stall, where you buy something and take it on a trade run to jangan again.... lots of different things you could do.

a better event :
have a certain amount of players below level 25 do a 2+ star trade run from jangan to dw.
have a few thieves stationed in different areas, ready to kill the traders.
any trader that successfully makes it is rewarded with a nice item or a mil gold or something like that.
simple and fun.

Hm... Back in Troy a long time ago there was a player promoting Hide 'n Seek. He gave a few hints through globals and the one that found her got a prize. I did one and got a SoS Chest 29 Armor+3, so I didn't hesitate to contribute and donate my SoS Chest 29 Garment. It was very fun.

i think that a good event would be if there were some arenas that would go players and make pvps.i mean fight with players in their lvl and the best player at his lvl will win the event price. something like bg at WoW...

KinkySlayer. I wonder what happened to her....
Having player run events would be a great idea, but it'll only be as successful as the community is supportive. Therein lies the difficulty.
I think that a player run quest that OP outlined is a bit too complicated to start off with. Here are some things I think would be interesting to see:
- Cape day. Massive brawls erupting all over the map. If you don't want to participate, you don't have to wear a cape...if you're chicken
- Week long guild wars. Just go about your business and if you see someone from a rival guild, it's fight or flight time. Get non-guild members involved, too. Hire them to act as scouts, spies, informants, etc.
- Road Paving. Get folks who still use harmony therapy (all twelve of them, right?) to try to make the roads as aggro free as possible.
- PvP tournies organized by levels. I know some folks have tried this in the past...haven't heard much about it in a long while. Add other rules, too, to make it interesting, ie restriction on gear (NPC only), restriction on skills (limit how many trees can be used), limit on potion amount.
- Scavenger hunt. Here's a list of items. Go find them and bring them back. Not too different from a typical quest, but much easier to implement than OP's idea. It's better than an NPC quest because you can tell whomever to go shove it if they ask for 965837 whatever items. No XP, though...but there
should be a prize involved.
- Treasure hunt. Again, similar to OP's idea, but streamlined. Get your clue at starting point, that clue directs you to the location of the next clue. Continue this process until you reach the final destination and (hopefully) claim a prize. Yay!

I think there is some support by the players. Espacially the low level ones (and maybe the high levels who are bored like hell)
There are good ideas here but they all stay inside the game... Is going outside the game to difficult?
PsYch008: the problem is how do you secure those transports by being raped by other thieves that don't play in the game. I can imagine all available thieves on the server preparing themselves when this event is organized (unless.... that is what you are up 2

)

Noob cape war.
All head to Jangnan, buy NPC Gear/weapon All 1D, and fight at Ch'in tombs
That's my thought for the day, and now I'm gonna go ice my brain as it's overheating.

People always enjoyed my suicide shares. You just need someone who's willing to go through the trouble of organizing it in advance. The more low 50s you have, people who have never been all though the caves or only been a few times, the more fun it is.

KinkySlayer. I wonder what happened to her....
Oh yeah... Well, it's been almost a whole year so no wonder I forgot.
Yesterday I was bored at Jangan gates and asked if people wanted to make a thief run, but no one seemed as bored as I was.
I wished cape PvP were more organized. Red team vs Blue team or something like that. Prodigy Capes should be banned. ^^" Job wars don't do because they're always populated by the highest level players, and the lower levels can do nothing but watch or get pwned.
But the community rarely even gives a damn so... Why bother.

These are all great ideas, but they are all hard to organise... and almost every game needs someone who looks for that noone do something against the rules.
I made game with RULES
the trade run GAME rules :
players:
2-5 lvl70+ hunters as Game Masters ( 1 with a/the trader(s)(not next to them/him, just following him/them, to see that thiefs play fair) 1 at donwhang. Others can be anywhere else in the gamefield:D )
4-8 lvl35-70 thiefs for kill traders
5+ lvl20-28 traders, who tries to reach Donwhang
rules for thiefs:(all in one xp share party )
1. rule : thiefs cannot wait next to the ferrys they need to be 100meters far from ferry and non-controlled bridges ( you can use phantom walk to see how much is 100m

)
2. Only one bridge can be controlled by thiefs( in Jangan) , they choose which one they want, and they tell it to the Game Masters
3. rule : thiefs cannot wait in Jangan area
4. rule : only one gate of Donwhang can be be controlled by thiefs, they choose which one they want, and they tell it to the Game Masters
rules for traders:(all in one xp share party )
1. rule : No teleport
2. rule : they need to have a 2 stars trade run
rules for GameMasters

all in one xp share party )
1. rule : Kill all thiefes, who break rules
2. rule DON'T kill thiefes , who don'T break rules
3. rule : can protect traders from non-playing traders and npc-thiefs
4. rule : cannot tell information between the two sides ( it would be lol, if he/she would say to a thief that where is a trader

)
reward:
thiefs: well , the stuff what they stole
trader, who success: 2000000 gold
well i worked a lot with it, i hope it's good

Its hard to get people to do something "server-wide".
I might just give an example:
Imagine there are 100people on a server,
at least 60 are botting,
at least 10 are offline
at least 5 are afk
at least 5 are stalling
at least 2 are really up for that "server-wide" thingy
and the rest?.... Hey, arent there always people who have more fun ruining that kind of stuff instead of having fun with each other and not fight for once, not have global chat wars going on, not bash on noobs and what not... Yea it is pretty dam hard to organize, unless you play on athens
~remembers those server wide trades and all the other stuff~
jeeez yea back then when I still played on Athens.... the server definately RULED!
I would always be up for some server wide thingy but o well, we can only dream another 100 years before our community even thinks about acting like the people on the Ksro.
Union Events FTW!

how about this...
a lvl 80 forms an 8/8 party
invite player with the same lvls (must be below lvl 64)... lets say lvl 60's
and let them bring as much hp pots as they can.
bring them to taklamakan...
tell them to trace u... make a tour to all the lvl 70++ monsters
the last person to survive wins.
hehehe
This game might be based on luck.

well, yea, but if the thief is out getting someone else, or a hunter is on him, etc etc, the trader could get by un noticed.
