an anti-bot idea

it's gonna be some sort of protector (like the one sold at the alchemy NPC) thingy

To the user:
    1. It is one-time use per item
    2. You can use one every hour regardless of login (tagging a player results in a timestamp)
    3. You can only target a player who is in attack mode
To the target player:
    1. A player can only target you once every 15minutes (for you to be targeted 3 times in 45minutes means 3 other different players targeted you).
    2. You need to be in attack mode (when you cannot summon/unsummon stuff) to be targeted.
    3. The when you are targeted:
3.1 HUD (Heads Up Display) will show up IF you turned it OFF.
3.2 A message will appear on screen for 1 minute saying someone is tagging you for violation of game rules, etc.
3.3 When you start to attck the next monster after being targetted, a quest icon will appear and clicking on it will show a dialog box for image verification.
(The next-monster-attack is neccessary to prevent exploitation for those players who are just AFK and being attacked by mobs but don't die)
3.4 If you did not click the quest icon w/in 1 minute from being targetted but still attacked a next target, the dialog box will still appear.
3.5 While the image verification box is visible, no monsters will attack you. silver/gold time will also stop.
    4. Failure to properly input image verification code 5 times will accumulate as tag points.
4.1 Every 1 minute with no verification code input is considered as a failure.
    5. 3 Tag points (maybe like Arrange points) will give you murderer status as well as a ban flag (visible for GMs only).
    6. Image verified will result you to 0 tag points and won't be targettable by protector for the next 2hours.

I'd like to post this as an anti-bot suggestion at silkroad official forums. If you can find any exploit please post it here.

There can never be flamers (for I don't know why for this post) so flames here will just be ignored.

very original... too bad bot programmers would find a way around it easily.

i would like to direct you to my last statement (but not the one about flaming, the one before that). since it is my idea its kinda looking at one perspective only so posting it here so others can see and can point out the weaknesses in my suggestion so i can change it before posting it at official.

this idea is based around the claim that JM made that the image verification at login has eliminated clientless logins. so i figured and in-game limited-execution image verification will also eliminate most of the remaining... uhmmm tree humpers.

ADDITION
i will also suggest that blue mob cease to drop gold & equip. this will hopefully eliminate two things:

1. gold farmers
2. hi levels owning lo level uniques (at least they'll only be killing them for reputation/ego boost/whatever instead of lo level sox)

seriously what is all this for?

Everyone can imagine things to ban botters.
Dont blame the botters, blame Joymax not to do anything against it.

I have been suspicious of Joymax allowing a ceratain amount of botters in the game for a while now.

They charge Goldfarmers a fee in return for allowing their bots to farm.

The Goldfarmers then sell their gold on Ebay and alike for a profit.

For example, in Tibet there is a line of the same botter every day near the herbalist who all line up in a perfect line. Very unlike human player behavoir. They engage in packs and run off in the same directions.

I have seen these very bots out farming, they all seem to come from the same source. A Goldfarmer allowed to farm by JM perhaps????

As such they will never allow a 'completely competant system of bot detection.

Have you ever wondered why the bots you see everyday never get banned?

Maybe now you know why... :)

I love a good conspiracy theory, but others have agreed with me on this one........

goldfarmers exist not because JM is engaged with that conspiracy theory of yours

or cause of the fact they don't send out GMs to watch the playing community to see who's human behind the character and who's just an automated script

primarily they exist because there is a market out there who keeps the goldfarmers alive... the goldbuyers...

JM clearly stated in their interviews that they want to make the game as close to realism as possible in terms of freedom of action that is. i suppose that's why there's never gonna be a sleep feature like WoW has, or those dungeon-instance of GW or those 20-man/40-man quests.

the suggestion i'd like them to read was to have a way for the legit community to somehow be able to take action to these tree humpers in a legal way.
