My ANTI-BOT idea

Ok, what if the ingame GM's had the same signature as a MOB. they look like a regular player but you could attack them like a MOB. this way they could just walk around and wait for the BOT's to attack them and then ban them. a normal player wouldn't just randomly kill another player for just being there. a BOT wouldn't know the difference. what do you think, would it work?

They'd just set it up in the bot to check the character model
Nice idea though.

well instead of making the gm a human character they could make it the same as the mob also invisible. A normal person wont attack a mob they can see but a bot will. This is just a idea to get round what u said

Well if the bots can ignore the "protectors" they surely will ignore the "fake" mobs. How would the GMs have time for this? I have never seen a GM ingame, just these notices concerning server reboot.

I saw GM Pizza on Xian a while ago...
They have the flower thingy next to their name, but they can wear whatever they want/use whatever weapon they want.

no what....that answer is so vague and open to interpretation.....some of us don't like options, ever think about that....
And if they want to find bots they can just start with the ppl who are always logged in...open the auction house( for all you afk stallers) and monitor players that never get off...its just a start but its something

A)No in all ways, any more interpretation needed?
B) THERE IS NO AUCTION HOUSE. NOT HERE, NOT IN KSRO.
C) Some Bots log off all the time, and some legits stay in for long amounts of time.

No, if a player can tell the difference, so could a bot

Bots
could be made a hell of a lot smarter than they are currently.

lol!
You see... The flaw in your theory is:
- If there actually were GM's online, they wouldn't need that #%"# to know if someone is botting lol.
- The traditional method (PM botter, wait for reply) usually works fine. The only thing required, is a GM... and a botter

Or they can actually update the protectors for once, but your idea is good, but it wouldnt work for long

+A) fair enough
-B) There is one in JSRO...XP
-C) Whats the point of botting if your logged off
All the time and legits who stay on for long amounts of time either share the account, are stalling, or if not for any other reason shouldn't be playing a game for 24+ hours striaght thats how America's gotten so fat

the only possible thing that may work is to have image code verification in game every so often, lol
even then programmers will probably always outthink whatever's out there & create something to handle it
GM pm & wait for answer is probably the best solution, if the gms actually do it every second while they're at work

B) It is a way to find what stalls in that town have, not an auction house.
C) log off =/= logged off. Some people bot 1 hour a day, and some bot for 24 hours.

i think that protectors that assimilate mobs in that area would be a better idea, i read that some bots will not attack a red mob, same as giants etc.....so if you ripped a protector in the bungwhang area where the bot is presiding then protector should look like a bungwhang to a bot.
i would hate random image verification, and if more GM's are employed and expected to roam the servers on bot hunts then im sure we will see price of silk etc...increase on SRO. why a client scan isnt performed when loading game i dont know, a botted client will surely have a different folder to an non botted client?? like BF2 has verification on loading...

If they just check the times of exp received in their dbase they can easily delete 50% of the bot accounts. If an account received exp during let's say more then 20 hours a day --> deleted
That's like done in what, 20 seconds? Easy to set up query et voila: 50% gone and directly noticable for the legit players.
PS. not intended to be a standard procedure, if they just do it now once. And, ok maybe someone has played 20 hours once, well then that's collateral damage...

bots will always stay on SRO, cuz the bot-companys do more effort to make a good bot than Joymax does effort to make a good anti-bot program. Joymax doesn't care about the bots, they only think about MONEY !

Better: put a image verification code into the herbalist & blacksmith.
I know, it will be a pain for legit playesr, but also can prevent bots for buy/sell, at least the unmained gold bots.
Srry for my bad english.
Salu2.

i didnt feel like reading the thread to see if anyone said this but that is what protectors are for and they dont work
so i doubt your way would work.

There is no proof in that. Pretend JoyMax is the court and you are the victim. JoyMax banning people who don't bot by doing that method is gonna cause them shit loads of trouble.
bots and protectors

The reason protectors don't work on bots is...they are not made right. The protectors should be the same lvl as the mobs around it or appear with the mob around it's name. The way bots avoid these things is by being programmed to only kill certain lvl of monsters. Some of the dumb bots will hit the protectors, the smart bots that hunt by lvl or mob will not due to the protcetors faulty program. Which I think would be an easy thing for the game programmers to fix.
Also to get around the 1 hour thing, just restart and come back into the game. You are now able to reuse your protectors. I do it all the time. Killed one bot Sandisu on the ALPS server along with Nancy000 and another one over and over again. It is fun killing the bots. Especilly the ones that ks. Then they have to run all the way back from town, just to get killed again. ^^ meantime I am grinding.
If they fix the protectors thing, I guarantee more bots will die ^^.
Also they should allow you to carry more than 5 of them at a time.
Thanks,
Jissy

I have NEVER experienced a protector that actually worked. So I dont know how you do it?
I can image Joymax fixing the protectors so they work perfekt. And then start selling them in the item mall, 11 protectors for 14 silk (just like GC).

But then..the anoyying stuipd " i'm so cool that i can own MOBS" people come around and constantly kill them

it wouldnt happen i mean look those protectors were supposted to kill bots and yet the only time they are used are to kill other noob legits who are just starting the game.
