lol but what AllEyez said was true... they do almost always say Data Backup, at least nowadays. Joymax sure is good at increasing suspense and going towards the climax (a huge update / REAL bot ban I suppose) but never seems to get there

I'm strongly against fixing it, they fix it ~ i quit, bladers and archers using ice imbue finally stopped annoying me due to immunity. It would ruin the game pvp balance, you cant kill bladers as it is let alone if they used ice
The ability to absolutely nullify the elemental effects of the Force trees with one simple skill is the most BS thing in this game...
along with fixing Fire Shield I'd like for them to fix Ice Wall as well since it works great with mobs but is unusable during PvP...
And data back-ups is standard fare these days...

at least in the official sro.net forum, the mods didnt think it was a bug. but i will have to agree that making it so easy to be immune to these effects, really makes no sense in using those other imbues for pvp. the whole game should only be seeing fire imbue.

dont expect a fix, if the JM DV team says it's not a bug, & it's not that really easy to get immune, unless u farm like a b1atch, so low lvls will never be immune & mostly it's ppl at the caps that are immune, & if it's so easy, i still c a lot of high lvls not being immune

+1
say all you want about how easy/hard to get 100% ice immune, the point of choosing ice over others is for the frost/freezing ability (and annoy the sht out of your enemy) instead of high dmg power of fire
if you are gonna quit because they change the way fire shield is calculated, so be it; all you are showing is that you need to exploit a bug to win in a PvP situation, you know what I call people, whom exploit bugs to give themselves an advantae? pussies

Oh jep, completely owned. I didn't at all realize my idiocy here. In case you haven't known, since beta started rolling around JM would always backup before an update. The fact that they have been doing this over the few last couple of weeks could mean a couple of things...
-They are currently Farking with the servers and thus back it up frequently to make sure they can rollback in case of emergency
-We are getting an update [ie... Job update, which kSRO got at the 80 cap]
I personally hate fireshield now. Before the alchemy update, I had no problem with the fact that you could keep the buff without actually using the shield. Obtaining ice immunity was fairly difficult, and people who were immune usually have to take immunity with taking more damage by wearing older jewels. [I remember having a perfect 20% set on each jewel just for the white spiders... Yech.] Back then, ice was actually useful, aside from the fact that you could gain physical defense. Freezing somebody was amazingly useful and I remember using the novas all the time to turn the tides in pvp in my favor.
Now, ice is useless. People only bother getting it for the defense, and aside from that its mostly avoided. The only appeal to the element used to be the ability to freeze, for which people sacrificed dealing more damage with fire. I actually really want to skill into ice, [especially with them adding two new ice nukes and light nukes], and say **** it to fire. The sad thing is, the only thing keeping me in fire is the immunity, and the only thing keeping me from ice is that everyone will be immune to it anyways... Were they to fix this "bug," ice would be completely useful again and it would turn the tide of glaivers vs pure int a bit. Int could go ice, gaining physical defense and the ability to freeze the glaivers [as they could no longer use fireshield], while the glaivers would have to stay in fire to keep the extra physical attack dmg buffs. But that's my two cents.[/quote]

If you feel like reading through all this shit... go ahead, otherwise let me sum it up for you why fireshield is broken....
-Anybody can be immune to any ailment status, ailment status effects that DEFINE elements. At a certain point in the game, they simply no longer apply to you. With 78% reduction from fireshield maxed, gaining immunity with the new alchemy system is simple as pie.
-Nobody gives a shit about the status effects that come with the elemental chi trees. i.e., a tree like ice, which was developed around dealing less damage with the useful freeze effect now is just a low damaging tree... so why would you use it as a primary tree?
if that doesn't explain it, read on lol.

First of all, Ive been playing since alpha and have thus had my fair share of playing in SRO. Ive seen a lot of changes in the gameplay and watched the game develop and evolve into completely something new, most of which Ive been able to enjoy. The number one thing that has been bothering me though is that Ive seen the ice element go from a fairly popular element to an almost completely IGNORED element to invest in. Seeing that this skillset was developed to have some use, I would believe that Joymax would be fully interested in figuring out how to return a currently useless element [for the sake other than defense gained] to its former glory.

CONCLUSION
I think that having made the fireshield buff, only activated with the shield rather than directly linked to the shield, ended up ruining the concept of status effects in this game. Immunity is amazingly easily obtained once you start decently leveling your fireshield [which any 5x has] and invest a little bit in alchemy. The elemental effects that came with ice, lightning, and fire are no longer of any worry to people and thus most people have been creating cookie cutter builds that rely on maximizing their damage [and thus using the fire imbue/tree]. Make it so the fireshield skill only remains active WHILE the shield is equiped, and you could return status effects back to what they were originally intended to be a pain in the ass.
EDIT
Why fireshield is a broken skill
-Immunity to any status ailment takes nothing to rid off. Maxing the skill gets you 78 immunity. This mean that you need only to get 22 immunity to a certain ailment on your jewelry. This is so rediculously easy that its not even funny... 4 pieces of jewelry with a range of 0 to 20 on each makes obtaining that 22 fairly simple... And the best part if you skill in fire [which everyone pretty much does...] you can obtain this immunity So what do we get? A population in which almost everybody is immune to status ailments.
What fixing this might bring about...
-Diversify builds. We will now actualy have a choice to maximize the playability out of our build... No longer will the general build be weapon tree, lightning, fire. With ice having been brought back into the picture, and the mastery cap limit approaching, people will have to be more creative to benefit from the elemental effects [burn, freezing, parry decrease etc.]

It's true 100% immunity would screw ice players over because they have NO advantage in pvp. What's the point in having a FREEZING skill if you can't freeze anyone?
We remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country, for their friends and for their families. They shall live on forever in our memories.
What is the point of spending ALOT of money on abnormal status reduce stones if it doesnt make you immune to it? Fire is strong, yes, because the burn can do alot of damage. So what do you do? Get fire immune and problem solved. Elements are really just a matter of taste now. What do you think looks cooler, ect, and what are the most useful skills.
In fact, that IS the reason why people dont use Ice skill tree much anymore. Because it only has a couple of usefull skills. Lightning has what, 3 buffs, and fire has three. Ice only has one buff.
Fire Shield isn't broken, its not a bug, and how can one say that your exploiting it when it isnt a bug. Its doing what it was programmed to do, so leave it at that.
