Since I too stepped in deep waters of pk2 editing, everything is so cool and fun. I am more than sattisfied, but one thing really annoys me:

When I change an option, I lose wind effect.

Does anyone of u, pk2 editers, know how to make permanent wind effect? I really like it and cant imagine SRO without it. Please post!

Can't be fixed in the pk2.
The problem with wind is in the exe.
Just backup the fixed cfg file then restore it if u changed anything.

the problem is in the configuration file just make that one file write-protected and you'll be good.

okay, this is an easy fix. All you need to do is when you start up the game (i mean the screen that pops up with the "START" thing) go to video options and change the the video setting to "No change". As long as you don't mess with any other graphic settings in game, the wind effect will be on again.

WHAT IS THE WIND EFFECT!!!!! I did change my settings. A long time ago. It doubled my frame rate. BUT I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT THE WIND EFFECT IS!!!

it works if you set it to high as well, dunno about the other settings though.

Well. Look at the ribbons on the end of male trader flags, or on the 8th degree spear/glaive, or the gold dragon flags. You see how they are stiff like cardboard? Well, there was a time when they flowed with the wind.

I miss the wind effect, specially on the blindfolded guy. Before that "update" the band moved with every move the pj do. Those were times.
Joymax took off the wind effect on everything to improve the game and low the lag.
GM´s if someone of u r reading this: We miss the wind effect, the capes looks ugly without it. Bring the wind effect back.

you can re add wind iv always got wind

here is haw to fix the wind efect ...
open file SROptionSet.pk2 from /Silkroad/Settings
and change the 00 whit 01 .. see screenshot

That is a temporary fix. You have to set SROptionSet to Read Only.

right click on file -> properties -> check on Attributes: Read-only -> and press OK

I thought it was gonna be something like "Open the hex editor search xxx string, change xx values, add xxx other values, press ok, open a new search, sing "obladi-oblada" and press ok, then save.

I did the thing with the hex editor, but when I try to change the graphics the wind effect dissapear

No lol, he just edited his armor to 9th degree.

My lvl 24 char is in 8th garms and 9th s/s, makes grinding more fun.

sounds easy to write-protect an encrypted pk2 file hidden deep in it..

W.w.w.wait, U say if I put that file SROconfig to read only, the wind effect wond dissappear if I change options? o_O

uhhhh on the subject, can someone direct me to a location where i can learn how to edit pk2 files?

Change the hexadecimal THEN do Read-Only.
