How to show 9th degree equip ingame?

Over the fast few weeks i've noticed a lot of screenshots of the 80cap where players are wearing 9th degree equipment ingame. i've been bored to death looking at 8th degree for the past 6months and i was wondering if there was someone who could show or write us a guide on how you were able to do so.

so.... how where and what file did you "patch" to make 8th degree equipment look like 9the degree gear ingame? thanks in advance! :D

ps: don't flame me if such a topic already exists where a solution has been given! :D just give me the link instead ^^

You need a pk2 editing program. No idea on where to get it, try the search button.

seems that there are mixed views about the editing of the .pk file that makes 9th degree look possible, its either a "hack" or a "bug abuse".

but still just to take a sneak peak at the 9th degree at my level for a minute would be cool :P thanks for the link sharp, still need to know on how ppl did this thing :D

1. Make a backup of Media.pk2
2. Get a hex editor.
3. Open up Media.pk2 in hex editor.
4. Figure out what string to search for.

Strings are formed as follows:
ITEM_U_V_W_X_Y_Z

Where U is the race (CH or EU)

V is the gender (M or F) if you are changing clothing

W
is the item type:
SWORD = sword
BLADE = blade
SPEAR = spear
TBLADE = glaive
BOW = bow
SHIELD = shield
HEAVY = armor
LIGHT = protector
CLOTHES = garments

X is the degree (01-09 plus 00 in special instances)

Y is the type (for clothing)
HA = Hat/Helmet (visible)
CA = Crown (not visible)
SA = Shoulders
BA = Body
LA = Legs
AA = Arms
FA = Feet

Z is the tier (A, B, C)

SoX has _RARE after it and the tier is used instead to denote SoStar, SoMoon, and SoSun

Example strings:
ITEM_CH_BLADE_07_C - Third tier seventh degree blade
ITEM_CH_M_CLOTHES_06_BA_A - First tier sixth degree male garment chest
ITEM_CH_F_HEAVY_08_AA_B_RARE - 8th degree SoM female armor wrist

5. Once you know your string, search for it in Unicode mode.
6. You will come up with a line that looks like this. (will have a lot more in the hex editor but you should see all of these key things)
ITEM_CH_SWORD_01_A - This is what your search result will be. Don't change it.
SN_ITEM_CH_SWORD_01_A - This is the item's name. Feel free to change the degree and tier (within the bounds of what I explained above)
SN_ITEM_CH_SWORD_01_A_TT_DESC - This is the item's description. You can change it's degree and tier.
item\china\weapon\sword_01.bsr - The item's model. Change it's degree.
item\china\weapon\sword_01.ddj - The item's texture. Change it's degree.
7. When you make your changes, do all of them in OVR mode so you don't change file size on accident.
8. Save and test ingame.

If you can't figure it out from this, tough, wait for me or someone else to write a full guide on it. Also, this is just a fraction of what can be done with PK2 editing. Normal weapons can be made into SoSun, +3 glow into +11 glow, horrible translations into perfect English, blades into spears, etc.

i'll just wait for you or someone else to make a full guide, easily understandable for noobs like myself :D pre-made codes for 8th degree to show like 9th degree ingame is probably what the majority needs right now :p

i can figure out most of the stuff, but i'm not that much into editing software so i'll leave it at that. but still a thumbs up for handing out the info Cruor :)

k i try my best at explaining ^^

First u need is to get XVI32 newest version if possible

then make a backup of ure media.pk2 make a new folder where u put everything in so then u open the media.pk2 thats in the silkroad folder ( not the backuped one!) and go to SEARCH and then REPLACE now u need to put a "ok" or w/e its called on Text string,as Unicode Latin in the first box and in the 2nd where stands Replace with u need to do the same at the corner right there stands Begin or Custom mark begin so no u just type in the first \blade_08 and in the 2nd box where stands repalce with \blade_09

\blade_xx = blade <--- xx is the degree like 01,02,03etc
\tblade_xx = glaive
\bow_xx = bow
\sword_xx = sword
\shield_xx = shield
\clothes_xx = garment
\heavy_xx = armor
\light_xx = protector

i hope i could help ;p if u still dont understand u can contact me under MSN : bullseye.cs@gmx.de

If you don't get it after reading Cruor's comment you gotta be real stupid with computers, seriously.
So scroll up and read his post again you need to search your Degree and change the graphics into the desired degree, it's as simple as that.

hex editing isn't really that too complicated, jsut takes time to understand and getting used to. i used to use it for my phone to mod stuff like system set ups (increase system volume, change operator logo, activate hidden menus etc.). just don't forget to set up a clean back up system and you'll be good to go.

anyone here got a motorola e398? used to mod it so much before silkroad happened. :love:

after today's update my models are back to normal again. I tried replacing it with my modified pk2, but the game detected the client as corrupt or w/e.

Dunno if they've patched it, or I have to do it all over again. ><

If you're already able to modify it, please say so.

Otherwise i'll find out for myself tommorow when I try.

the glow stays, i really have a sos52+5 sword. i changed all 7deg to 9deg in the shot (weapons only)

edit:
all i did was read and try what was posted above. there is no example or instructions to change normal to seal. although you can exchange a SoS to a SoSun with a simple A_RARE to C_RARE replace

Sure, it's not hacking at all, but it IS modifying Joymax's software. I don't think they'd look too kindly on that. Doesn't matter if you're just changing how your hat looks, or modifying the probability of your weapon elixirs succeeding (gotta get that 64+15 spear!).... you're still modifying the silkroad client.

an illusion? not sure what you mean.

That's understandable. I'm sure if a GM had a choice between banning someone who, say, duped gold, by modifying the client, or banning someone who made their wolf look like a horse... they'd ban the gold duper.

But then if the client application has any automated banning features in place (even in the future) it might not differentiate between the two changes. It will just see that something changed, so ban the account.

I'll admit I would love to change my wolf into Tiger Girl (not sure if that's possible) but I also don't want to get banned.

well, botter bave their Client modify to start botting too....and never get ban

1. you can NEVER change how OTHER people see you from their screens by changing the look of YOUR own client because you only modified YOUR own file

2. all items and account information are AT THE SERVER... NOT IN YOUR CLIENT!

(however if processing is done for damage via client, im sure it is checked at the server--not really sure--though im quite sure damge calc is not in the PK2 files)

3. it is modifying client files but it is not detected by the server ATM. think of it as changing from Low Graphic Settings to Middle Graphic Settings when you display 8D items as 9D items,etc.

i may be wrong so don't take my word for it

For such a smart guy, you don't seem smart.
Same goes for ava

Your modified old media.pk2 is 168 MB (176,812,032 bytes) the new one is 178 MB (187,121,664 bytes) - Just re-do it all. Tsk
I'm ingame right now with 9th again. Just 2 minutes of work to change them all.

You arent modding the client, you are modding the PK file. They arent the same.

A client application consists of much more than just the single .exe file. A client application consists of all the files/registry entries that are installed as part of the client installation. This would include .exe files, .dlls, and other data files. Otherwise, those other files (like the .pk2 files) wouldn't be needed.
