Spam bots and why you should NOT reply to them

Alright so we all know we got spam bots recently (a ton)

Mods do their best to delete them and their post but they cant be everywhere all the time.

Spam bots register and post in a forum to advertise a product, or to make you download a virus. that's the first reason why you shouldnt click on their links or reply to them.

When you create a new post, under the box where you write, you can tick "notify me when a reply is posted". Spambots got this option ticked, so when you reply to them, even if you are asking to close the topic, THEY RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION E-MAIL and they think "Oh, someone replied, the advertising works, lets post MORE!"

So if you dont want more bots here, just trust moderators and DO NOT REPLY TO SPAMBOTS it will only make them come back, again, again, and again.

If a thread is not locked/deleted (usually in artist corner or server sections because mods dont visit regulary those sections [this is not a flame]), send a PM to a moderator, with a direct link to the thread.

Ofcourse if it is a post and not a thread we're doomed

thanks.

^True.
But. I think they know if their advertising/virus' works by seing if they get ppl visiting the advertised site / downloading the virus.

Edit:

I think he did read it, the point of him posting it was that people refuse to acknowledge what he said about it, and continue posting in those threads.
Now he gives a reason and an explanation as to why not to do it, not just "don't do this because it's bad."

U were helpful, spammer. =)
I dont read the stickies. Too much boring text.
And i mostly dont need to read rules.

A rule like dont flame/dont advertise wont help me. Its too basic.
But some of the new stickies are more helpful. (Like the one HS linked.)
