Add abuse or botter forum

Botting seems to be a hot topic lately. With a lot of long threads and multiple posts.
A forum for this would compact everything into one general location. There are pros and cons to this idea. Probobly cause some heated debate and some wars.
However, it could also rake in some traffic and attention.
Your thoughts? Remember, polls are anonymous.
Thanks

I stand by my previous statement of that it should be a general abuse/ bad things forum.

Buuut, there should be like an investigator or something to make sure false charges aren't being hurrled around.

I think it is a great idea.

I like the idea simply cause it's a place for someone to come in and go right to if that's their problem. The debates will come up reguardless of what forum the posts are in, this would just be much better organized really.
of course everything is IMHO.

Yay!
So these topics will not be flood in General section, ScreenShot section, or Guide Section.
Separate Them, NOW!

Funny, a thread to make a thread

But im all for it
Before you attempt this, try to incorporate some rules so users dont abuse the abuse forum
Some examples:
1) Make sure there is evidence of the botting: screenshots > showing the different signs of botting behaviour
2) Clearly seen attempts to talk or interact with the person accused > standing in front of them, talking both out loud and in whisper
I was wondering if mayb the forum wont be just focussed on botting but on the general abuse in the game, I can show plenty of sceenies of 1 star trader abuse, seeing how there is much flame against this kind of abuse

I think this would be great, would clean up a lot of the botter / scammer topics in general forums section.

Im sure if the moderators found your post helpful, they will make sure it gets moved and is stickied in the new forums section.

this is useful when recruiting members.. having a database of botters we can simply use the search engine in the forum to find the botter.

I must say I agree with this. A catch-all baddie section.

*Nods.*
If the forum is created, I would suggest making very sure that the rules for the forum mean the person must include several screenshots and/or movies. Just blatant text with no signs of proof should be nuked.

Putting them in a seperate forum only puts them "out of site and out of mind", the whole purpose of posting them is for them to be seen by all. I personally attend several boards like this one and Tavern as well as several Guild Wars boards. There are some forums I never look at.

I think it would actually be easier to find them if they had their own forum. That way you're not digging through numerous pages of other things to ensure someone isn't a botter.

i dunno, i never look at the marketplace or the guild forums unless someone points me there, and i seldom look at the technical help forum. maybe STINGER has a point. i always check every new thread in the General Discussion forum. maybe it's a good weay to keep people informed.

I agree to a point, it's good for someone who is looking for a specific person or something, but the average person just browsing through the forums more than likely isn't going to check there regularly. Now if it's in the general forum it will get more attention.

another idea would be to put up a locked sticky in 'general' for botters, one for scammers, poppers, etc. when someone posts a thread saying something about it, a mod can add the name to the stickied list, if it sounds legit anyways. have one sticky for each category of 'bad guy', and anyone can just look at it if they want. it'll be more 'in sight' than a seperate forum, but still keep it nice and tidy.
just a thought. i really like the way the scammer list is set up, thanks stallowned. i figured if there was a list like that for other stuff too, then a seperate forum wouldn't really be necessary.

People who only read the board every other day (or week) wont see one petty thread in general discussion, especially if its been bumped to another page.
People like Mr Crayon who read those types of posts isnt going to spend time digging through every page of general discussion.
I dont like a 'single thread'. 5 posts are actually scammers; 45 posts are people blabbing about those 5.
However, I dont want this to turn into a midevial 'witch hunt' either, with wrongly accused being punished or trashed.

the best solution might be to make it a public forum that only mods can post in. people can PM complaints to mods, and they can add them at their discretion.

Other post says newest patch should combat botting. Should we wait and see first?

Agreed, more attention, but for how long?
You have to consider that numerous people would post lots of scammers/botters/cheaters/etc., and soon enough, there could possibly many pages in the thread, and a repetitive one at that.
Now who wants to look at 6 pages full of the same thing, pics and what not.
And who wants to go to the same thread more than once, looking at all the new updates, well not me, as it would just get repetitive
If its in a different forum, with many threads, there can be discussion of legitamacy of the person at hand, and if he/she is confirmed as a malicious character, then it would be better to place in a stickied thread > as a list of abusers
Conclusion= ADVANTAGE - forum with many threads allows discussion, and focus on the individual subjects
DISADVANTAGE - May become a boring, ignored forum, and might be better to keep as a stickied in the general forum
Just my 2 cents

you could make one stickied post and have moderators/helpers clean it up by deleting the blabbing and merging additional posts to it.
Its more work, but as SG said she likes organization.

I say again
I dont like the 'one sticky post'. I wont even look at some huge post. We have that now. Like I have time to dig through ever post and page?
No.
But an individual thread for each. Legitamacy? wheres your SS's ?

the main problem here is the screenshots. they're huge, and even though they show good data, not everyone edits out the meaningless stuff, and it makes the threads really difficult to get through. i don't have a solution to this, but it turns me off from posting in these threads - or reading them - unless i have a contribution of a botter/scammer myself.

Well, I know you had a post regarding asking for more mods to help out...Here is my proposal.
If you were to make the Bot forum, and made it Mod-posts only (which is a grand idea imo after considering the possibilities...), I would offer up my services to hack and slash at it.
There could be a sticky with the required information and how to host screenshots, movies, etc (imageshack, photobucket, etc...). With strict rules of what needs to be included in order for the post to be made (character name, guild, server, date/time, screenshots, movies etc.)
That way, people could then PM the mod with the info and they (the mod) post it. I have enough time to run amok, and if someone's screenshot for example is too big, I can rezie and rehost it, would be no probl for me.
Anything to make the botters go boom is fine by me! ^^

Screenshots are never a problem if you simply upload to imageshack and use the provided THUMBNAIL FOR FORUMS code. You don't even have to edit the file, just upload it straight from the screenshots folder.

Good idea, I think - you go to somewhere like Tavern and every single ("&£^$% thread is entitled "Lamez0r bottz0rz!" "botbotbot" or "SCAMZ" and it's really annoying. Would hate to see these forums get like that.
