Ice is useful against mob, but not in pvp. Most high lvl players is immune to ice because the fire shield protection give a % reduce (not a unit reduce). And there is another reason why ice is useless that i want to share with u .
It's because the way of the damage system works. In sro, as soon as the animation is played, the system calculates the damage dealed to the opponent. In some games that i played, the damage is calculated at the time u get hit or at the end of the animation.
I dont want to confuse u. So, in a short word, frozen status, in the middle of the opponent's skill animation, doesnt stop the damage but only the animation. In consequence, it allows the oppenent to cast skill more frequent => more damage, after 1.5s recover from the status.

with the recent jSRO update, fire shield protection nows gives a unit reduction (as oppose to %), now ice immune is nearly impossible to achieve

Ice is awsome, and it would be good agian if they just changed the fire shield thing, I liked slowing and freezing ppl more, even if a little less dmg.

yes i've noticed this when im frozen by a mob but i'm still dealing damage to them even though i'm not moving and b4 i gain normal stats their dead by then

I am an ice glavie, and am seriously thinking of switching to fire.
Ice was great when i was bow cos i could give monsters and players (pvp) frostbite or frozen so could get more hits in before they could get to me. Now they just do it in front of me and its not so great.

Also, fire has the burn thingy that does more damage rather than just temp preventing an enemy to hit you.

Hell yeah, ice is wicked for monsters and the dmg difference is hardly anything. My character could still land 20k nukes on those niya skeletons with ice lol

Yeah I'd say it wouldn't be possible at all to be immune if the 4th book became a unit reduction of 78 instead of 78%, a maxed 4th book status effect is about 157 status effect so the buff would reduce that to 79 and then your jewels would only reduce a maximum of 80% of that, so even with max buff and max ice jewels you'd still get frozen with a very small status effect, it would be enough to cancel peoples skills which is the whole idea anyway.

Ice bladers would be impossible to kill once again.

Let's hope they fix this fire shield bug, i aws always a fan of ice

Yup, that would befinatly be nice, and probably be best to make it go away if you unequip your shield >.>, if not, oh well.

I'm not really playing it at the minute, I'm having a rest from the game until the prices of everything drops etc. Unlike a lot of people I wasn't capped for months, I think I hit 70 the day the cap was raised so I never got to have a little break from it all.

Plus I did 60-70 in 20 days trying to set some kinda new legit record, I wanted to beat the 4 week record set by botters qbit and poltergeist, so when the cap was up I just couldn't be bothered anymore lol

My characters at 73 though with a -4 gap, I had this funny idea to just try and get 4 trees fully maxed, even the stuff I'd never wanna use. I'm not that far from doing it, it's just finding some motivation to do it.

I let my offline RL friend play on it for now, stop it from all going to waste.

i went to fire for this reason.

If it would be changed, i don't thik i'll go back since the fire tree's has more buffs to offer for a full str.

Magic defence
phy dmg increase
status effect reduce

While ice only give my more phy defence and as a full str i already have enough of it

I would be playing ice still if:

1) There were no auto pots
2) Wasn't so easy to become immune

Sadly, these are not realities. Ergo, fire is my primary choice.

Ice isnt useless, its hilarious! Not even one turk i have seen got ice resistance on Alps, its so funny freezing them with like 3 people till they run out of universal pills and say their favorite 'yo momma' line. Priceless.

Ice is, if you ask me, the most useful of the three trees ("healing" tree is really useless). Without it i could win every tents pvp duel. By learning a few skills I could win every 2nd to 3rd duel. It can help extremely if you know to use it!

mmmm I had a friend with 20% frost reduce on every piece of jewelry. I think he would still be immune even if fire shield wasnt a %.

Ice is great at level when noone is immune to it yet.
Nothing more fun as ice imbue+stun at lower levels.

even if it were like that, its not too difficult to get the max % on jewelry.. (currently 20%) so if its possible at all.. people will still be imune =P
