They are surrounded by ashtrays over-filled with cigarette butts, empty paper coffee cups, and Styrofoam ramyon cups -- all indications of one of Korea's least known professions: gold farming."
Funny, but its wrong. In fact, it's a big PC room with 1 single gook guarding the bots.

OK i normally done get involved with stuff like this but i felt i had to say something. Why do any of u care if they are gold farming. Living in China is tough and jobs are scarce. Some of these kids depend on the gold farming to pay their way through school. What their doing basically does not harm you so i dont understand y some people seem to get so excited about stuff like this. Its like botting. Everyone seems to hate botters and go out of their way to throw them off. But again....Why do u care. I personally dont give a damn whether someone bots or not. It simply doesnt affect me much. Now and then there may be a problem with kissing but bots move away immediately if your attacking the same thing anyway. Their botting means nothing to other players. Just had to say my piece.
PS before someone starts accusing me no im not a botter or farmer. Im only lvl 41 and took long enough getting there.

You can
NOT have a keylogger installed by just visiting a site. Your IE or FireFox will BLOCK the download if it doesn't ask you to save or open in the first place.

Oh and btw, if that dutch guy IS right, saying websites are able to plant a keylogger without giving permission to download, you won't even find it!
This is so funny;

I'm against these goldfarmers. I think it's a way of cheating.
They shouldn't allow it. It's like letting someone rob a jewelry store and pay him to get some jewels or something.
But that's just my opinion.

Bad comparison.
By the way, most of them aren't kids. Gold farmers there are much worse than than a simple 1 man running many bots. They function like a company and have many employees during different task.

If you're smart you'd know how to filter any files like that.
I download a bunch of stuff that you'd think contains viruses and I've had my current HD for a few months with no virus scanner. Every once in a while I might install one to check what's going on and I have had maybe 1 or 2 spyware viruses....

Once those people can learn how to write good English (i.e. formal), I might consider looking at what they have to say. Right now they just look like a bunch of dipshits talking out of their unsubstantiated ass.
My two cents.

You can get a keylogger if you use internet explorer since it is basically complete shit and downloads every possible active-x thing it can. Luckily if your smart enough to use firefox you're safe.
Why would you ever support gold bots / gold farmers. For one they cause prices to rise to insane levels, ex: sos 42 sword on troy a while back = 10-13m Current Price = 20m+. They also fill the server with bots and cause lag.

To the person who said its like cheating, dont take this as me being rude but really what does it matter to you ? Theyre only robbing themselves of the experience of the game right ? And even if it is a corporation and not single users i dont see why anyone cares besides maybe joymax themselves.

You must be blissfully ignorant. Being ignorant is not a crime though so long as one takes the time to overcome it.
The reasons to hate bots are in no particular order......
1. They take spots on the server that an actual player would sometimes like to have. Anyone gotten the can't connect to server due to traffic message? Yeah that is bots keeping you from getting on and playing.
2. They take up good training spots and reduce the number of mobs avalible for actual players to train on.
3. Several actively KS real players.
4. They play for unnaturally long stretches of time allowing them to accumulate gold faster and affording them more chances at seal items than regular players. This is in turn is used to flood the in game market and cause inflation of all non NPC items. Just as an example after this last event where the 1mill jobs dropped weapon elixer prices went up 100k or more. But a weapon elixer is a weapon elixer and anyone can get one as a drop. But unique items such as equipment etc are priced out of the hands of many legit players due to inflation from gold buying. So because of them you are either gonna have to be extra lucky, work super hard, or just go out and buy gold to get items that you should have been able to easier afford.
5. They claim to have a life but yet a large portion of it involves ruining your experience on a game you actually want to play. Hey if they don't want to play it why have it installed. I know I won't miss them.
6. If there is nothing wrong with botting why is it against the rules? And just what have you wasted all that time getting 40+ for when you could have just botted your way there. Your lvl is something you have earned. Something you should be able to be proud of. They cheapen the whole experience just because they wanna cap, PVP, and pwn noobs(AKA lower lvls. AKA you).
If you have not thought of a reason to be upset about it then you have really just not thought about it. If you play the game regularly/seriously you will get your fill of them soon enough.

And to those people that say you can't get a logger/virus from just clicking on a link. Here are some links to ejumakate yourselves on.
Basic definition of an Internet Explorer drive by download.
http://searchwindowssecurity.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,290660,sid45_gci887624,00.html
Article from Microsoft themselves talking about what they have done to help prevent though not stop drive by downloads.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/community/columns/driveby.mspx
Could something similar happen in FireFox or Opera? It is possible. But not nearly as likely as Internet Explorer. IE suffers more due to poor implementation of features and valuing deadlines over a polished product.
A company that does 1 thing tends to do that one thing well. A company that tries to do almost everything succeeds at almost nothing. Microsoft is the latter.

Ping Your joking Right ?
Ill concede that taking up server spots is the only valid point. I understand that. So i agree with point one.
Point two about taking up good training spots i think is ridiculous. Theres wide areas of monsters and ive never had to compete with ANYONE (even regular players) for hunting grounds. Thats something i like about SRO.
Severely kissing active players is also BS. How do i know ? I used to bot but got bored and started over playing regularly. The bots are set up to automatically move to next mob if someone else even touches it first. Thats a fact, so point two is invalid.
Point four i think is a bit of a reach though i see where your coming from. Overall though i dont think botters have that great of a hold on the economy as u make it out to be. There arent too many bots that wont encounter problems after a few hours if you can get even that far. (to my knowledge.) So i doubt they accumulate enough to screw up the entire game. But hey, believe what u want.
Point 5 again i understand what you mean. But why do u care if they ruin their own gaming experience ? Besides what u said about the economy stuff is still pretty affordable. What they do doesnt ruin your gaming experience so dont let it get to you so much.
About point 6. Im not saying botting is right or wrong. I pesonally dont bot but thats just cuz i dont see the point. I actually want to play the game. If they dont earn their lvl and can kill u so what ? There are plenty of legit high lvl players who can kill you too. At the end of the day my whole point is
DONT LET WHAT SOME BOTTER IS DOING GET YOU SO MAD AND RUIN YOUR GAMING EXPERIENCE. Maybe im just layed back like that but your entitled to think what you want. I personally dont care how many botters there are. If i can get in ther server and enjoy myself let them have at it for all i care. I joymax where to come up with a way to stop all bots i wouldnt care. If botting became allowed i still wouldnt care.

I don't know what server you are on. Maybe it is different there. But on Xian it can be quite problematic. At low lvls the homeland in donwang was at least until recently overrun with gold bots. Same for the chakji at jangan ferries. The bots were shoulder to shoulder and even ksing themselves. Let alone the isolated players that put up with it. When I trained at the yeti all the good spots were taken by bots from chinatown, duck_club, bear_club, and many other bot guilds. If I actually wanted an area all to myself I had to go all the way out to BFE and hang with the devil yeti which were still semi crowded with bots.
Rippa wrote:Severely kissing active players is also BS. How do i know ? I used to bot but got bored and started over playing regularly. The bots are set up to automatically move to next mob if someone else even touches it first. Thats a fact, so point two is invalid.
If you botted, knew people that botted, or even read up on botters and their programs you know quite well that is a feature that can be turned on and off. And further lightning nuke bots are prolific ksers. Regardless of that setting. Again maybe your server is better. Kudos.
Rippa wrote:Point four i think is a bit of a reach though i see where your coming from. Overall though i dont think botters have that great of a hold on the economy as u make it out to be. YMMV but some people have a hard time keeping SRO running reliably. Just because you could not get your bot to run reliably does not mean that others have not. This is simple math. The more you grind the more gold you get. The more drops you get. The better chances you get for seal items. All that equals having more gold than would naturally be avalible to someone who played more realistic times. You get enough ppl doing that especially farming just for gold. The value of gold decreases. Do the math. Again maybe your server has been neglected by them.
Rippa wrote:Point 5 again i understand what you mean. But why do u care if they ruin their own gaming experience ? Besides what u said about the economy stuff is still pretty affordable. What they do doesnt ruin your gaming experience so dont let it get to you so much.
1. They keep me from logging on. That pisses me off and ruins my experience.
2. They take some of the best spots to train leaving me to go way outta my way or just pick at what I can get. That pisses me off and ruins my experience.
3. In the caves with a lightning nuker in some rooms is an outright crime. They are splashing everything in the room making it hard for me to get anything to myself. Often meaning I take all the hits and only get half the exp. That pisses me off and ruins my experience.
4. I can't buy much in the way of good gear. Prices keep going up. Some of it comes to luck and I have friends who don't bot that have full seal sets. But far more well know botters have such sets. I would be doing good to buy 1 cheap sos item my level atm. Let alone even a stock +5 or better. Botters have them in abundance. And there are stall characters for the bots that have and endless supply of SOS for sale. Even buying low and selling high way more than a normal person would get.
Rippa wrote:About point 6. Im not saying botting is right or wrong. I pesonally dont bot but thats just cuz i dont see the point. I actually want to play the game. Everyone's experience is always a little different. You sound laid back almost to a fault. So don't fault those who are not. Botting of all types does have an impact on the experience. Including gold bots. I only hope the measure being discussed will have some good. Till then have some understanding of those that have issue with it.
