You think thiefs kill your trades. Be a thief! Hunters kill you when you're thief go hunter.
Kinda dumb. If i see a thief on horse and im thief, ill go hunter and kill them, then take loot.

Ok, I think in this game people are to retarded to understand 1 huge concept: HUNTERS WERE MADE FOR A REASON! Now I know that might sound insane, and you are probably thinking what reason. Well, that reason is to protect traders from thieves. If you get an 7x / 8x hunter, and you pay him, I am sure you will be just fine.
On Venice I took more 5* traders than I can count, I had a few rules:
1. No one under 45
2. DW to Hotan / Hotan to DW only
3. Pay half before, half after
4. 100k Fee PER trader
I usually took 3 traders at a time and made 300k while they definitely made more than that and could feel safe.

I have something that might support you in you're quest for attention.
http://www.parentingweb.com/dev_edu/blockplay.htm
Socially—Blocks encourage children to make friends and cooperate. Large block play may be a young child's first experience playing in a group, while small block play may encourage an older child to work with others in solving problems.
Now go and make friends.
