Whatever you do, DO NOT depend on thiefing to make money. You don't get that multiplier that traders get. Thiefing is not really worth it. It's one of the funnest things in the game, but w/o the trader multiplier its very lacking in reward.
The only time I would depend on thiefing is if you're lvl 70 fully farmed. That way, not many ppl can **** with you and you can hold a lot more crap in your transport.

If theifs had a multiplier, there'd be a million level 5 guildless thieves running around. (gold companies exploiting it)

Not really... if there were a bigger incentive to thief generated by said multiplier, there would also be a drop in traders as they are further discouraged to go out and get thief. Instead, with the new job update, traders can level and carry more, while thieves can do the same. At this moment in time, a job level means shit. That is, other then identifying you as being fairly proficient in the job. With the job update, your job level will affect money made, damage dealt, etc. Perhaps there's a "get more dough for your stolen loot" option. No way in hell would gold companies bother exploiting it though. Even if, and this would be amazingly unlikely, there was a way for a thief to earn more gold then the trader initially invested [bot setup = trader buy loot, trader drop loot, thief take loot, thief sell loot, repeat], the system would be too inefficient by say me, Nya the Asshole, killing the thief. Besides, I heard gold bots make like 10m a day. I have never even made close to that much thieving all day. [most I pulled in was 5m, most with trading was 11m]
