Q: How can you reduce server traffic and bots?

A: Disconnect the users.

Method. In FPS games theres an option that server admins can use. this options puts a limit on how long a user can be AFK. For example some servers that are very popular only have 1 min limit, where others have 5-10min limit.

SRO can basically do the same thing. Disconnect users that have been afk for 1-2min. You know how many bots will get disconnected this way? all those bots who have stuck in 1 place and are unable to move. Or all those users who go eat lunch, go watch TV and go the bathroom and dont log off cuz they are afraid of losing their spot.

Note: of course JM should make it so that people that are in town and have a stall should not get disconnected cuz its a given that if you are in stall you are selling stuff or whatever.

This idea isn't the brightest because of the HUGE difference between an fps and a mmorpg. In a fps its all about quick gameplay, and afk users are just worthless; they get kills for the opposite team and make the wait only longer [afk's in AA or CS are amazingly annoying when all those remaining are a complete noob and an afk on the opposite team.] If you get DC'd in a FPS, you find another server, simple.

In a mmorpg, you dont play for 30 minutes and get your fix. You can't simply reconnect to another server. During the summer I played about 10~15 hours a day on the side or working. I would take 15 minute breaks to use the bathroom, eat food, smoke, and stall over night. If I got dc'd simply while I was peeing, I'd be pissed...

What SRO really needs is a loggin que. Much like wow. You 'stand in line' to get into the server and it logs you in when it can. A much better system, and one made for MMOs

More or less, logging in is the game in this situation.

The mind game that is.
