Hi guys, im just wondering if it is possible to get hacked by someone that knows your ip.

For example if i go to tavern (or here), mods or admin know my ip; right?. So is it possible for them to hack my sro account?... (sorry if this sound offensive to mods and ryoko)

Last time i got hacked, and still dont know how they did it.. (prolly bruteforced) and now i want to prevent it from happening again.

If you have a secure system, someone knowing your IP is no problem.

No, Microsoft blows and Norton is a joke.

I personally recommend Sygate Firewall Professional and AVG Antivirus+Kaspersky Antivirus.

It's not a bad idea to get a spyware detector as well (even though most have less than 54% of detection).

if the bruteforce hacks that you're talking about is what you call accepting a random party/trade invite, and getting hacked... i've heard thats just a noob rumor. don't quote me on it though.

You probably got your account hacked through a website
by using the same info as ur sro acc. I highly doubt anyone would:

1. Hack your pc for your silkroad account.
2. Bruteforce you unless you had some amazing gear.

And cokane is right sygate firewall and avg antivirus are a damn good
and free combo, Also having a router adds to your security.

- 1000 to many antiviruses clash dude i had 2 antiviruses but dey clashed.. i got an X antivirus system and some programs to clean bugs and ather shit of my pc

do you have a router?

if so, you can get into that and change your firewall to high because its probably on low if youre never messed with it before.

You can never be too safe...

I've read many articles on how hackers succesfuly
hack other computer by jumping from one server
to another then another then another so that way
its 90% impossible to be traced back to the original
hackers address...

And the programmes used are the programms pretty much
supplyd when installing windows such as "command prompt"
And my all time fav "Telnet".

But try not revealing you IP adress by using a proxy
or a programme that hides/changes you ip constintly...

People can also use your IP address and for hacking
others so then that means YOU will be the one getting blamed
for illegal operations...

But theres like a 10% why a hacker will target you...

Unless they're skript kiddies that use pre-made progs...

It has been a year now that Sygate was bought by Symantec...You can still use the firewall, but you do not get updates anymore, exept the "high-end" enterprise edition (I think). Used to be the best though, too bad...

I have to agree on Avast antivirus, it is the best around, at least for me. :wink:

You don't know shit then, because AVG is probably the best scanner for worms while Kaspersky is the best for virus.

thx for the replies, for right now im not sure what to do. Soooo i guess professional hackers can hack any computer by just knowing the ip of the other person?... ..... i dont wanna get hacked -.-.

Wonder if those antivirus u guys talk about r free?.. kaspersky? others?

I just wanna be save, cus so many high lvl pplo are getting hacked on Greece. This month 2 friends of mine got hacked. Stormrider (lvl70) and Xmas(lvl70). Both with sos weapons + protectors.

Any advices for me to secure myself?.. Dont talk about bot, ccf or keyloggers (just to let u know i dont bot, go to weird websites, buy gold, dont go to official website silkroadonline.;net, no buy silk).

A real hacker wouldn't hack you for your SRO account, they have better and more prospective targets.

My account for example, haha.

when you can have a programme that does 2 in 1??

Oh, I guess you haven't noticed there isn't much of
a diffurence between a virus and a worm... Virus
needs someone to activate it... Worm has a brain
of its own to do what it needs todo without any help from
a person... Yeah... Welll also a worm travels mainly
through the local network leaving traces of it self
behind...

There is nothing for you to worry about just be aware of
incoming emails, Websites and scan you computer once
a week maybe during you goto bed/school/work.

And you can get Avast Anti-virus for free by downloading
it from maybe... http://www.download.com and then just order
a free serial from Avasts main website..

Don't worry about anything just be aware with what
sites and stuff you goto and watchout for the files that your
friends send you YES INCLUDING IMAGES/PICS!!

CCleaner is for removing the browser history and
temp files etc etc... But don't count on the programme
for any REAL safe reason...

And a hacker CAN hack your computer just by knowing your
IP but a HACKER will NOT hack you just for the hell of it...
unless it's a amataur hacker but don't worry about it
you can share your IP on a underground hacking forum
and not get hacked unless you piss someone off or
start being a smart ass.

A hacker won't hack for the hell of it
A hacker won't hack your computer without any reason
A hacker WILL hack yur computer is you get on their
bad side.
The FBI has the option to hack you if they need to know something
that is relevant to a MAJOUR "thing".

But yeah, Don't worry about it i've been on many sites
with wannabe hackers saying they're gonna "h4x0r2 m1 c0m9u73r"
but ends up never happening... You will get the odd port
search once and a while but nothing serious because your firewall
send a ersult back saying there's no available ports...

Theres nothing to worry about... But just watchout
for script kiddies they have no clue on howto hack
so they use premade programms and end up using
it to hack them selfs ROFL!!!

Nothing else just stop being so timmer'd...
