I too have mixed feelings on them ... they are most annoying in the beginning when you don't know what you are doing or where you are going. You finally think you are about to actually complete a trade run and you get popped ... and it makes you really want to do something really evil to the thief that popped you ...
BUT .... if you just practice trading and get to know what you are doing, it adds lots of excitement at times. Plus it is very satisfying when you DO get away. Even if it means crossing the ferry back and forth 6 times in a row
... or running through the trees with the hope the player thief or this spawns will run into a tree ... or ... having your higher level hunter friends find and kill the thief.
And sometimes, funny things can happen. Like as a level 23 I had a 5* trade out on a camel. My hunter was held up fighting my npc thieves when I suddenly see a player thief go by on a white horse that was a higher level than the hunter that was with me. I tell my hunter to watch out ... he tells me to try running for the Jangan wall ... which I do. I am thinking that I am SO dead as I am an easy one hit for that thief (you know the type of thief that carries one of those round red shields? and all they have to do is sneeze to KO a level 23? thats the type of player thief I am talking about.)
"Running" is a relative thing on a camel ... we really need "camel spurs" ... but I valiantly aim for the wall and say my prayers. AND THE THIEF DECIDES TO 1* POP ME INSTEAD OF ATTACKING!!!!
So while it WAS a close thing ... and only really due the the bravery of my hunter
who stuck with me and tanked both sets of npcs thieves. I did make it safely in the Jangan gate.
Too funny ... and yes both I and that hunter pmed the thief about what he had missed.

how many routes are there when you have to pass 2 ferries, which are next to each other?

i hated getting popped at lower levels...but now, nothing makes me happier than filling up my ox with goods. and, unless you can find some people doing multi *, which is rare, the only way is to pop.

In the Triangular Conflict System, the trade caravan and the cargo that is transported plays an important part. The star rating indicates the value of the cargo. The potential risk increases as the star ratings increase.
The one star trade caravan has the least amount of risk because player characters may not directly attack a one star caravan with their own weapons and skills however this does not mean that there is no possibility of attack during a one star trade caravan.
Because the trade caravan is an integral part of the Triangular Conflict System, it will come under the same type of risks as any other rated trade caravan. As Hunters are also an integral part of the Triangular Conflict System, they are the only way to ensure any element of safety during any trade caravan.

Khang, you are the public ;p.
Popping is not part of the game, its more of an exploit, like making ppl with mercs murderer/desuiting and stuff, I guess just like that thouigh we have made it part of the game, but once we get the job update it should be all over.
The "not compeletly safe" thing, is meaning it can be pk'd or atkd by mobs, but where ppl trade there are really no lvl 70+ mobs that can do that, and they dont get pk'd, and thats where ppl come in and play the part of exploiting by spawning higher lvl mobs to kill them, not saying its totaly wrong, but its definatly not "part of the game", not supsoed to be like that lol, wich is one reason thieves wont be spawning npc thieves no more

if a player character PK it s DIRECTLY an attack on a one star.
there is NOT any non-direct possiblity to attack a one star except popping.
so yea GMs mean what they mean
Also GM said that
you must uunderstand that 1* ONLY indicates the value of the cargo. and that In the Triangular Conflict System, the trade caravan and the cargo that is transported plays an important part.
1 star trade caravan are inside the TRIANGULAR CONFLICT system which mean that every trader even if their star indicate 1* are mean to be able to be robed too, the only thing is that they can t rob them DIRECTLY.

i've had lvl 70s pop me.. then just leave my junk on the floor... total bs if u ask me.. makes me lose exp and they dont even want my stuff...
Totally understandable. I don't pick up any loot less than saddles or it's equivelent. Anything less is a waste of space.
The main problem with democracy is that the people cannot be trusted with the power. The majority does not really know what is best for the majority. I propose a system of pulleys and levers.

lol PsYch008, remember when that "lllll" guy was hunting for us as we thieved and then he turned on us cuz he figured out that we were popping? Lol what a ****.
The only problem with 1* popping is people who have problems with 1* popping.
Lmao. that guy pisses me off...

yesterday i was lvling, no job suit or anything, and im in zerk on a hyenchgeon giant. all of a sudden i look next to me and see a 5x merchant standing next to me. then comes the npc thief. the b!tch popped me for no reason, just to watch me die which i think is wrong. they should make it so npc thieves only attack merchants, hunters, or theives cuz this is complete BS

neola wrote:YA but isten when the new update comes the NPC thifes can't atk the trades caravan ..... Then if that would happen would the 1 * be to easy ??????![]()
That's the whole point of 1* trading, people shouldn't have to be scared of going on a 1*. Once this update happens, people will start by going 1*s all the time, then they will migrate to 2*+. Making trading more easier with less high lvl thieves. If the ratio was 50 traders to 1 thief, multi* would be more useful and worth it, not the way it used to be when thieving was at its peek, 5 - 10 thieves to 5 - 10 traders. If people keep on popping, there will be no one to pop.
Going on a multi-star is like suicide now and days, even with a lvl 70 hunter. My guild has done some successful 5* here and there, but mainly 1*s when going on a major caravan.
It's like beating a dead stick with a horse

hey popping is going to b gone with the next patch. That being said, it will b real easy to make money and the economy will crash and we will c poor kids with weird looking caps roam the streets just like the great depression :p. I think that when they make npc hunters for theives, they should do
a) harder/ more challenging npc theives for trader ( more than one at a time or 2-3 lvls higher than u
OR
b) nerf the amount of profit during 1 star trades. Right now I make ~ 90k per 1 star trade run; if they reduce it to around ~40k then mayb more traders will actually do 2 star trades
That being said; I think once the new patch is implemented, Traders will pop other traders
