was just looking at this new rappelz games forum and spotted that they have made a pretty clever way to get rid of botters...called the auto trap system..

he Rappelz Auto Trap System is designed to stop players from botting.
Botting is using a 3rd party program to play the game for you.

There are new stationary creatures in the game called Auto Traps.
They do not look like normal creatures; they look like natural objects such as rocks.

If you attack an Auto Trap then you will be penalized.

If you attack an Auto Trap for 5 seconds:
*You will get Wrath level 9 as a warning. Wrath reduces your attack power, defense, and movement speed.

If you attack an Auto Trap for 30 seconds:
*You will get Wrath level 11 and Damage over time.
*All characters on your account will be affected.
*You will be taken to the Abyss

Sounds very clever, would be quite funny on silkroad, seeing all bots attacking rocks :P

Cool o.o
Murderer or offender status would be good also ^^

All joymax would have to do is make the trap packets the same as mob packets, which shouldn't be hard considering this game did it. To bad they still aren't doing much, and any current actions unknown.

but then i would get penalized for punching a rock :(
and that would be so much fun

I know on how the internals of a bot work a little bit more because I know that wouldn't work.

Bots use some type of the in-game code which is how they choose the monster to attack, the "monsters" that are these so called "rocks" and stuff will be taken out of the bot code that tells the bot which monsters to attack, kinda like they don't attack those "Protectors" that you buy at jewlery store. So this idea would not work. Sorry to ruin your hopes.

yea a offender status that allows someone to kill you only once :)

but really... what is the point even discussing these things, they never listen :(

they won't.
know why?
cuz joymax sucks and all they care about is making money. (of course, that's natural... but, it still sucks!)

as you can see there is a GM by my side, and the auto-trap is clearly visable, gm answered ALL of my questions...i had to make up some actually xD

Do I really have to quote myself just to get for you people to read why it won't work?!

You guys need to :banghead:

there is no way you cant say it definetly wont work...the trap may be made to change what monster it is randomly and settings etc etc which would wreck the bots settings..it works on rappelz so it could work here as well..

Cant they change the code of the trap everyday? :\
Bot makers wouldnt be able to figure it out daily XD I HOPE!

But its not gonna be on SRO so who cares -.-

actually the auto trap thing isn't exactly great. it catches about 100 times as many noobs as bots. its like a protector on steriods. not to mention that they are very easy to accidently attack.

a better idea would be the "inviisible monster" technique.

Make a monster "invisible" so normal players wouldnt beable to see it. But since bots use packets/codes to find mobs, they will attack the "invisbile" monster, which will define them as a bot.

Thats the best ideal yet... Before its said.. What if I attack the invisible monster!

Guys the system is set up so even if you attack it by mistake it doesn't ban you right off the bat. It set up if you keep doing it over and over.. Now don't tell me you wouldn't notice you attacks going slower?

We all know botters troll these forums but lol try a little harder not to ask the question that nails you as a botter.

I think this method WON'T work. Look at the protectors. They are just like auto-trap but no, bots don't attack those

And you play rappelz to know this of course....

It'd be tough for a botter to play Rappelz anyway. I don't recall there being an auto-pot feature, and the potions are shitty and wicked expensive. They would die after their 10th kill.

Nop i didn't play reppelz. I just feel it won't work. They work about the same way as protector, to get botters to attack them. But look at SRO botters. They don't even respond to attacks by players.

And yes i agree that the code should be changed like the mob do so that it is very difficult for the bots to tell them apart. But the reason why Joymax don't do this is probably the side effect; by changing the code it may

1. Cause players unable to summon the protectors
2. Attack players like normal mobs
3. Would attack back like normal mobs and won't work like what protectors should do
4. *Mangyang has appeared in Jangan*, the protector looks like uniques

Bot pots itself...

I'm pretty sure there would be a way to code in something where it can't be clicked on by mouse (for invisible monster)

Which is why I said they also cost a hefty amount of rupees. If there was a botter on that game I hope he also visits some kind of gold farmer speil that way he can get enough potions to last hours on end without death.

There already are invisible mobs, to bad their just bugs lol. And if they didn't change the code of the mode, then the GM would never know the person is attacking it. But by changing the code, the bot makers will just tell the bot not to attack it. So it won't work (I'm not saying 100%, just 99%) :(

A problem with invisibles is AoE hitting them.

These are nice ideas, keep them rolling. Rocks seem a bit ugly tho lol

Invisable is so not good, just running and clikcing places and your screwed >_>, unless its unclicable and only atkable by the packet crap or w/e.

I got the best solution though, have a gm who knows about the bots and how botters act and go around to freakin ban them.
