VPU crashing

Today while playing SRO I had a message pop from ATI saying that my VPU crashed and restarted. The process goes something like this: screen stops, go black, monitor makes noise (like when you change resoultion), returns to game with ATI message. It happens almost every 30 seconds, with max of 3 times. 3rd time the game crashes, because openGL crashes or something like that. Kicks me to Windows and drawing is extremly slow. I was told to remove Catalyst. Which I did, it was good for an hour. Now the same thing happnes, cept for the ATI message- its gone, cause theres no catalyst. Anyone knows whats going on? Like troublsome connect, ???? and DCs werent enough, now this tortures me.

Not enough info to really help you. Provide the following and I will try and help you. It would also help to reinstall Catalyst and turn on VPU recover to better pinpoint the problem.
- System specs
- The exact error message

sounds to me like your vid card is dying.

happens to me to, either because i put the game specs to hgih and there is a sudden rush of motion or just for some other random reason. it usually fixes itslef after a restart. or father after a few of them you'll get a message that says someing like would you like to readjust your graphics settings. click yes. then it'll run really wierd until you restart.

Uhh since you have an ati graphics card, go into control panel and disable vpu recovery, its known to cause this with a lot more games than just SRO
NVIDIA FTW

chaby are you playing on a laptop?
if so, go to
http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool/ and use that beast. takes desktop drivers and converts them into mobile drivers since most graphics companies tend to forget about their little mobile buddies.

how hot is your card getting, and does it crash anywhere besides sro?
do you have any artifacts / other weird stuff on screen ever?
do you have the latest drivers?

hmmm, then my only advice would be go into the vid settings in sro and tone them all down a lot, since your card is not that great, it might be having a problem with the graphics in the game. turn down your settings (make sure you look at all the settings) and see how that goes.
