I find objectification of women in the media and entertainment to be offensive, degrading, and otherwise objectionable for both men and women (and their younger counterparts). I'm honestly pretty disgusted with being harassed in-game because my character is female (this has happened in just about every online game I've played, including WoW and SRO), as I see this as a general lack of respect for women in addition to a lack of intelligence on the part of my "admirers". I'm also angered by the harassment endured by my female friends who play games online. SRO specifically provides minimal recourse for an individual who is being harassed in-game, and I think this recent change will exacerbate existing problems.

WoW, which has similarly-clad character models, is plagued with players asking female players to remove their armor / clothing, and with players using unclothed female characters to solicit "favors" or dancing in exchange for tips in in-game currency. I don't see anything preventing similar behavior in SRO if the recent changes persist.

Quite frankly, I'm disgusted. These changes do not promote an atmopshere of respect, which is already a problem, and will only worsen if the changes are left intact.

the majority of the players in game are 15 or under, going through puberty and as long as they get to hide behind their firewall and use their 'm4d h4x' they don't really care about it.

it's an amusing thing from time to time, but does get old, even sickening.

i'm afraid that you've got a long way to go before you get the male part of the world to share your opinion.

as a side note, i'd say about 95% of these 'girls' begging for things whiles almost nude are infact guys.

ummm, ok, i voted yes, simply because it was only yes or no, no in
between option.

but honestly, does anybody care THAT much? i mean, compared to some
of the stuff that you'd see EVERY DAY anywhere else, including the
internet, TV, real life, this stuff is pretty tame. i mean, come on. there are
NO shots of any actual genitalia, for either gender, that i've seen. what
total nudity there IS is for the most part tastefully covered with tatoos,
etc, instead of blatantly drawn in. there's nothing here that a kid couldn't
see in just about any magazine or commercial.

it's the way the world works, and it's not going to change. if you're mature
enough to be offended by it, then surely you're mature enough to get
over it.

as for in-game behavior changing with this addition, well, just stay away
from it. if you don't like it, just ignore it. if you do, i can pretty much
promise you that whoever it is will get bored of harassing you. it's no fun
if you just don't respond. if some female character IS doing favors for
stuff, then that's their choice, not yours. i don't care to have people KS
me or see "..... NUB" randomly written across the chat, but it happens.
and nothing will change that. that's what you get when you open a game
up to all ages, all nationalties, all people in general. different people have
different ideas of what is acceptable, and they clash. it happens in every
game, just in different ways, depending on the game.

and, like Dem said, most of them are guys anyways, so how does that
make you feel?

oh, and by the way, the majority of the screenies my wife took while i was
at work were of naked guys, so don't think it's just the women that are
being looked at. maybe i should be offended that joymax would have the
audacity to show a topless male? what, precisely, is the difference? i could
understand if JUST the female characters were nude, but that's not the
case.

anyways, i don't feel strongly one way or the other, i just think that
people don't need to get so offended over something so small.

oh, and i'm not editing this for typos, my keyboard is stupid and i'm going
to bed soon anyway. so overlook them. ^^

Why is there talismen over the guys nipples? That's unnecessory

I'm an artist, anatomy is my thing, so I like seeing the human body and wouldn't mind if when you took off the protector, you see flesh instead. As long as they fix it up though, give women bras and panties, give guys underwear or boxers.

It allowed me to see the cool tattoo designs, that's an upside. It looks good, though I wish I had it on me instead. The tattoos I mean, not anything else. Too friggin' scared of the pain to want to do it.

Having said that, I am whole heartedly on BanzaiMonkey's side of the argument.

DUDE ITS A FCKING GAME ARE YOU A MORON? If your a girl you need to get over yourself IRL before bringing your BS to a forum about a game. This was the stupidist comment I have ever read on a gaming forum site. #1 they said they are fixing it and apologized. #2 women are on this earth to pleasure man, always have and always will. #3 marry a korean women if you want this to happen because american women are prudes or lesbians. #4 yes I MARRIED A KOREAN WOMEN. OH SHI SON, Korean Girls are HOT, PRETTY AND CUTE :D

aite, everyone have their own opinions on things, especially in issues about sexuality. i'ma looking at this issue from both sides... media do always portrait women as slim, beauty, and you know :D and you see a lot of good looking girls on TV commercials... it's the same sterotype in games such as SRO.. slim loooking characters... but yo, you cant change what the media does.. you just have to bare with it... the goverment controls what the media do... and it's on YOU to decide to believe in the bullshi or not... aside from that.. it's nothing wrong to have characters half naked... its just a game... they didn't show ANYTHING.. so what's to worry, there is nothing explict, not like everyone is NAKED...

so ppl dont flame just chill, and listen to EMINEM, and now...

WILL THE REAL SLIM SHADY PLEASE STAND UP :D haha

LOL, I just went through and looked at all the "nekked" skins available and WOAH!!!! Two of the female skins no longer make this game Teen rated. Then again, ESRB for online games are special as they get a "content will change with gameplay" label. Even still.. this games goes right into the mature category.

I can't say the word "crap" in this game but I can make a playboy pinup envious!

Smokin_Joe:

nowhere in anything that banzaimonkey wrote was tehre anything even the slightest bit caustic or confrontational. quite frankly, i'm disgusted by your ignorant flaming of him just for expressing his opinion. if you don't agree, then say so, but do NOT attack his character. the very fact that he was willing to post his opinions in a civilized manner proves that he DOES have character. i suggest you heavily consider the method in which you express yourself in the future; no one likes a troll.

banzai:

i agree with you that the objectification of women is pretty terrible in popular entertainment. i don't think anything that is designed to promote the idea that "#2 women are on this earth to pleasure man, always have and always will" <ahem> is disgusting and deplorable. i actually just talked my girlfriend out of trying out for the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders because i didn't think she was the kind of person who wanted to prance around half-naked on national TV. 10pts to you, sir.
