Got 1* popped today for the like 5th time, was on a back road for ages but eventually had to get over a bridge, which was where they got me.
Goddamn their cowardly f*cking souls.
PIVE and SNTchronos (who wasn't even suited when the SS was taken, but soon joined up) you f*cking dirty b@stards, I hope your mothers die in freak yachting accidents.
Oh and I get to laugh at them just before.
F*ck you both, squarely, in the ear.

aww <3 Happened to me all the time. Now when I do a 1* alone I stick to the most obvious path without any trouble.
Oh to make you hate me some more, a few friends of mine and I just did a 5* trade from don to hot, succesfull for everyone. Only time something died was if 1 camel got frozen and crowded by 100 NPCs, before the hunters could kill them.

A few tips for you:
Take the bottom most bridge, people rarely use that bridge when waiting for people to pop.
If you see a theif at a bridge, and you know you cant' take their npcs, do not continue, instantly turn back to where you came from. If you act fast enough (and know the areas to look for theifs waiting for you) you can get a head start they won't catch up to. I've never had a theif follow me back to all the way back to dw trying to pop me, they all lose interest when they realize it will take a long time.
30+ horse has twice as much hp as the regular horse, so if you are in an unescapable situation, keep pilling as you get to the 100m limit, then from there either wait till it dies ( if the theif isnt chasing you) or kill your horse and take off. Usually you can get away with your life, at the expense of your cargo. the 30+ horse can take a few hits from even very high theifs before dieing, giving you a better chance of escape. Also, if you are out of sight from the theif, make sure you don't run in a straight line, or else they'll catch you while you are trying to desuit or get to town easily.
I'm 37 now and i havent been 1* popped since 30, unless i got lazy and took east ferry straight to the 1*pop ambush bridge (the one closest to you in your screenshot)
Just remember, if you don't like 1* popping, the BEST solution is to becoem high level yourself, put on the hunter gear, and enforce your ideals by hand, complaining wont' do anything.
Good luck

Do a multistar so he can more easily rob you?
Get someone in your guild to come save you?
Don't trade till you can handle yourself?

You wanna know the truth?
Its only YOUR fault for doing trade runs when you cant even defend yourself and you KNOW about the theives out there.

The ss makes it look like you tryed to zerk the theif and you end up getting owned.

I used to be against 1* popping, but hey I never got 1 piece of loot before I started popping.. I do it because I can.
Today I "almost" got popped by a high lvl thief.. I got away cause I kept teleporting from ferry to ferry until he gave up

which wasted a fair amount of my gold xD

you play this game for 3-4 days and cry cuz you get owned. Those guys have put in alot more hours than you and deserve to be able to pwn your newb a.s.s.

Thanks to those who posted advice.
I thought the game would allow someone who has been playing for a few weeks, to do something other than grind, grind, grind. I was getting bored of collecting 200 of this and 500 of that. If the only way to achieve that is to invest another few weeks/months grinding for hours at a time then I would question wether it is really worth it.
Games are meant to be fun, surely?
As for the 'Get a high level to help you' comment, thanks for the advice again, but it would seem *some* of them are too busy flaming 'newb's' to give a rats ass about helping them out.
They've obviously started the game at lvl 40 and never had to learn anything from the start.
Apologies to the veteren members who do help out on these forums and have sympathy for those of us who are not lvl60+

Started the game at level 40? ROFL Its likely I was level 40 long before you discovered SRO. I started in the Alpha, then the Beta on it's first day. I have done my fair share of trade runs and alone, thanks very much. There werent a load of high levels then, to be sure. Instead we had Snow, Impulse and Ari, capped and level 5 thieves because no one could stop them.
Most high levels dont go on trade runs cause we been there, done that and have found that you make more gold training than you do trading. The runs are boring. As a hunter, I get very little for the expenditure of my pots, pills and time. Later, with the job update, that might change. I have had traders Ive escorted offer me 20-200K for a run. O.o at level 70, that buys me a horse and a few pots. WOOooOOOoooOOOO
WHEN or IF you get capped, read this topic again and see what you think about it.

Well...thought luck, you got owned..I tell all that are low lvl. Don't job till your 52, if you do it before, stop b*tching...go train, thats what I did when I recognized I wasnt high lvl enough to take on thiefs/hunters/traders.

My comment is that you shouldn't trade unless you can defend yourself.

While some games have PVP servers and non-PVP servers, SRO has jobs.
Jobs ARE the PVP system of SRO. Its just an excuse to PVP and if you do a good job, you are rewarded at the end with a little gold - as nightbloom has previously said.
Most of us believe, if you don't want to compete against other players, don't do jobs.
The 1* system doesn't mean "your guaranteed" to make your trade. It just gives you a better chance and gives you a slight advantage over the thief.
To say trading is impossible, is somewhat ridiculous - as a 1* popper, I cant even count the amount of people who got away.

Last time i got popped was 2-3 MONTHS ago(no joke).
Gotta play smart :P And if you dont know how to trade run well then be a theif or a hunter when you reach lvl 45+
I hate low lvl hunters -__- They put their ID on KNOWING about the high chances of being killed.

It's not really that hard to find a multi-star. I just started thieving recently. I just run around on a horse and if I find a trader that is spawning more than one NPC thief at a time, I suit up and attack. Certainly, there are a lot more 1 star traders out there, but I haven't had much of a problem finding multi-stars. You just have to look around. 1-star popping isn't really necessary.
To the original poster, 1-star popping doesn't make the thief a coward. The thief may just be too lazy to search for a multi-star, or just enjoys pissing off noob traders who are too cowardly to do multi-star trades.
Disclaimer: I do 1-star trades myself, so admittedly I am a coward when it comes to trade runs. Perhaps one day I will try a multi-star, but I think thieving multi-stars is more fun.
