my greatest achievement happened last week.
i was taking a bit of a break from the ENDLESS questing at the lvl40-ish mark with a relaxing bit of thieving. BlackHand has several lower lvl members now, and they're excellent to use as scouts in the ferry areas since that's where they're killing chakjis and tigers and whatnot. one of them mentioned that there was a 3-camel multi-star run heading down the hill to west ferry with 2 hunters and 3 traders all 32+-42+. i was in the area, so i figured i'd check it out.
when i got there i noticed it was a guild run by one of the mid-lvl viet guilds (can't remember which off the top of my head). the two hunters were in their mid 40s by their gear and the traders were all in the 30s. they hadn't seen me yet as i was hiding in the bamboo. i glanced at my zerk bar. full.
i decided that if i could take down the bow-weilding hunter in the back before he knew i was there i might be able to live long enough to win in a fight against the glaive user in the front. i got in range, started to nuke, and popped off my zerk right as the attack was firing.
dropped the hunter in one hit. must have been an int bow user. this gave me heart. all the traders were still on their camels. i streaked up to the front hunter and launched a lightning nuke at him followed by a quick flying dragon spear. total of about 4k dmg. he didn't drop. i was a little worried now. he got in range, zerked up, and we both got off a soul spear-truth at the same time, and both hit. mine stunned him, his did NOT stun me. this gave me a few secs to pot away the 2.5k dmg he did me (which left me near death i have to say) and launch another volley of nukes. before he was even able to recover from the stun, he was down.
i wasted no time. turned and began taking out the nearest camel. glanced at my zerk bar - 3 bars left, it was all happening so fast! the first camel was down before the other traders could even get off of theirs. a lightning nuke took out the first one that got to me and did a decent amount of dmg to his mount as well. another flying dragon - soul spear combo took out the final trader, and i spent the rest of my zerk mauling their transports. it was pure carnage by the time my zerk ran out. i was standing in the middle of a huge pile of loot and a field of dead bodies.
i threw up a harmony circle to keep the tigers out while i waited the brutal 20 secs to summon a transport, all the while looking over my shoulder for wandering hunters. i popped out my camel and started loading up on the choicest goods i could find, all the while spamming guild chat telling my fellow BlackHand thieves to come and clean up the mess i had left :) a soon as i had a full 5-star camel, i teled and made a run for the nearest dense cover.
i patiently waited out the endlessly long thief den tele while literally battling for my life and that of my camel against what seemed to be an endless stream of orange and champion thieves - even one double spawn!! my tele finished just in time; my camel would have dropped in a few more hits, and i was almost out of pills and pots. i slowly rode up to the stolen goods master with my heart still pumping adrenaline through me, my hands shaking.
i sold off the goods for a whopping 89k (not a bad haul for a thief) and gained a net of 2% thief lvl2, also no slouch. but the real satisfaction came from the knowledge that i had just scored a huge victory against a superior force, and that i'd done it the right way - no cheats, no bugs, no abuse.
