Silkroad used to be difficult. lvl 20 was a huge landmark. now its like level 2. no gold? free potions? too easy.......this is a huge slap for original silkroad fans...

This. Not to mention Silkroad was never really "alive" at all. It was a shitty free to play game that got even more shitty over time.

Huge fun for me in the beginning...Huge...in 06 people actually played the game...people actually traded and collaborated...They fought in the triangular conflict....It was a community in every sense....That only lasted for 2 caps..... 70 and 80... Then it slowly turned into what it is now...A barren desert....a void...

Soon it's 7 years for ISRO, 8 for KSRO.

Not really. As long as there are immature turks and other botters buying silk to be the best on the server, it's not dead. At least in JM point of view. Also at this rate it won't die anytime soon. There are apparently still more than enough of these idiots still playing and buying silk to get their Legend +12 Set or w/e and i doubt they'll stop buying silk anytime soon. Also if they should stop, JM could just make a new lv. cap or simply introduce new items, which you can only get with silk, to keep the game "alive".

This, imo the final final nail in the coffin was the cap 100 patch.

I concur. 100 cap still wasn't horribly out of reach/unbalanced. And it was a bit of a grind to get there, but not so much that'd you rage and quit. (Think I got to 98 in 2 1/2 months of partying for 3 hours a day)

Quoted for truth.
I remember the 70 cap and the time when people actually participated in the Triangular Conflict, on all three sides. I remember grinding on tigers and black tigers and watching long lines of traders marching through as I try to dodge NPC thieves that went aggro on me if I got too close. I remember when thieves would disguise themselves as hunters, hop the ferry, and switch back to the thief suit to rob the caravan when it hopped the ferry. Times were different back then. It was a fun time.

I remember the 80 cap where people were waiting to be come level 20 and get the job outfits. Level 20 was a great achievement for a new player and the 1-star trading for some serious money would begin. You would always have to be carefull for 1-star poppers: High level thiefs that had a transport full of items that would put their transport near yours so that their npc thiefs would kill your transport and they could steal ur goods.
When your goods were stolen and you went back to leveling after the dissapointment, often high level hunters whispered me, telling me that they killed a thief that dropped my goods. THey would tell me where the goods were and protect me
Then you reached level 30. That was really big. If you reached level 30 you were with the big guys.
Silkroad was so fun back then. It died quickly after the 80 cap.

This thread makes me remember the lvl 20-40days. Silkroad will always be a good memory and will not die for me in that sense(spelling?).

Sometimes in my 5x levels, I would put on my black devil suit (the 1m thief suit that doesn't sell anymore) and grind on the NPC thieves of those high level thieves who were trying to pop 1 stars. The traders often thought I was going to rob them. I guess it's confusing to a trader to see a somewhat higher level thief protecting them. *grins*

I remembered a high level thief on our server back in the days of 70 cap who's job name was "Theif"...He wasn't in a guild either. You can just imagine the amount of surprise and confusion he caused...I've seen him in action running beside the traders and he didn't use any imbue with his skills so he blended in perfectly with the NPC theives...The low lvl traders would be fooled all the time as he would one hit them and left them wondering WTF?..too funny

It's just unreasonable for 100cap. Top it off you had everybody 24/7 botting, no guild wars, and no jobbing. Users killed it off equally as much as Joymax's silly grinding.

People will naturally move towards any method that is convenient..Its the nature of our society...Joymax made the game really grindy then didn't do anything significant to stop players who didn't want to deal with the grind (botters)... In both moves Joymax killed the game...

I remember actually going back home during lunch hour (elementary school, gr6) to play SRO. At what point my parents had confiscated my desktop and put it in their room so during lunch hour I'd go back home, get my desktop from their room, plug it in , kill tigers at BF while sporting my 1M Thief Suit

for an hour and head back just in time for school.

The game is over 6 years old and not what it used to be ruthc.....I am assuming that you are new. You will be walking into dead zone compared to what it was....I know that feeling very well... I went to play other games that was new to me and I hardly noticed the presence of a community...You might find SRO to be the same..... Unless to you go to a private server version of SRO... That would be my advice.
