Rumor of Merging?

Post by Goseki »

So I've been told that due to all the hackings lately, Joymax now plans to merge all iSRO servers with the SRO-R servers to increase player population? Especially if lvls are kept, I doubt many SRO-R players will be happy that 120 ppl suddenly pop in and rape.

I don't think there will be any merging of iSRO and SRO-R. I believe they will rather transfer iSRO characters on to a new SRO-R server.

The only reason I started playing SRO-R is because it is totally disconnected from iSRO.

I'm not sure what's your source, but it's definitely not going to happen. They can't just 'merge' two servers.

Actually they can.

Not that they would do it but it isn't impossible if they try to.

Well, my source would be Facebook. Look on Silkroad Online's page. They have posted 3 polls about the merging.

Question 1: What is your opinion regarding application of Silkroad-R game features and updates to Silkroad Online?
•Agree - 866
•Disagree - 242(including me)

Question 2: What is the best way to apply updates of Silkroad-R to Silkroad Online?
•Apply game features and updates of SRO-R to the current servers of SRO - 354
•Migration of Silkroad Online players to a New server in Silkroad-R - 550(including me, out of the 2, i'd still prefer this)

Question 3: If your character will be migrated to Silkroad-R, what are the things that you want the most to be included in the migration? (Multiple Choices Allowed)(Didn't really get to choose multiple options.)
•Level(Skill Points) - 1277(including me)
•Equipment - 136
•Gold - 62

And there were these news(Silkroad-R posted the same, except the merging part).
Silkroad Online wrote:Silkroad Online Future Improvements

Since we updated the new job system, Trade and job Conflict, many players have sent suggestions regarding its improvement and also suggested to bring back the old system which has thief, hunter and merchant as jobs. Our players’ feedback are most valuable to us, thus, we have conducted a survey with the purpose of gathering specific features of Trade and Job system that our users want to be improved.

Based on the SRO Trade & Job Conflict survey, some players typically encountered difficulties in leveling up their job ranks and levels. Also, results showed that some of our players were discouraged to try the current Job and trade system due to inability to obtain character EXP and SP while doing job related activities.

Therefore, in response to our players' requests, we are planning to apply following improvements in the Trade and Job Conflict System:

- Required level for Target trading will be lowered
- Additional rewards will be given when caravan trade is successfully completed
- EXP/SP will be accumulated when wearing job suit while hunting

Aside from the above improvements, we are also considering applying more corrective measures and enhancements to highlight the diverse aspect of Trade and Job conflict System. Future contents will surely deliver a fun-filled and exciting Job Conflict system, with a combination of the strong points of the old job system plus the advanced features of the current system.

Schedule of the patch is still tentative, and we will make detailed announcements in the future regarding the game content development progress.

Also, regarding Silkroad and Silkroad-R server integration, we will be doing our best to apply the changes based on our players feedback and result of our in-game Survey.

- Server Integration system
- Consideration of an effective and convenient transfer system for players who would like to transfer characters from Silkroad to Silkroad-R

Detailed information will also be posted in the future regarding the above changes.

Thank you very much for your continued support to Silkroad Online!

If I understand JM correctly, players migration means you have to buy a ticket with SILK in order to migrate :D

Which means nothing to 120 botters who run around with silk-everything 24/7.

to increase population? joymax just dont understand how stupid they are...

100,000 bots on isro still has no where near the community that a 200 player sro salvation does... i buy silk on salvation, not to get an advantage but to support the server, there is no game ive played when my donations were merely to thank the developer...

joymax need to learn how business works because they could have been as rich if not richer then blizzard.

Even if this was true, there would be technical difficulties such as:

Duplicated character names?
- I guess this can be solved by allowing player to change the name of the character upon transfering, must like a new character creation system, just change the name

Skill/SP issues
- Fire, lightening, ice mastery must be converged into one, so what will happen if I have 90 Fire, 60 Lightening and 20 Ice? I guess in SRO R that would mean having 90 force mastery, while returning you SP invested in 60 lightening and 20 ice. Its just too much work
- Since there is different EXP requirements for each level, that means you get less SP accumulated per level. That must be taken into consideration when "refunding" our SP

- In SROR a character can't be deleveled. So what if I delevel my character in iSRO, from 67 to 40, having skills and stats that are higher than a normal level 40 character on SROR? If I delevel my 67 to say 57, then I'll get a BIG advantage in farming FW at 51-60 level because I will have higher stats.

- What if my character slot is full and I want to transfer one character from iSRO to SROR? Do I get to delete a character?
- What about my silk items? i can buy tons of EXP tickets using money I left behind on iSRO (I have none btw :P ) and I can bring it to the new servers?

And most importantly, you really think Joymax will let you transfer your character for FREE?

Its probably another silk items, like 500 silks, to transfer one character to another server, so I wont get my hypes up if I were you.

All these changes are being explored and executed but everything remains the same at the core once you look real closely... They don't know what to do with the mess so they're just stirring it around.

None of this matters. Joymax made a poll asking if the players wanted this merge-option, so how can you doubt that they are able to do it?

HOW they will do it is something else, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Anyway, I agree with you that it will not be free. In fact, I can't see why it should be. For once I actually find it kinda fair for Joymax to charge a fee for a transfer of this kind.

If the merge is true, It will tka e some time to do. They have a lot of work in their hands. The update will be put out and see what happens. If people can still bot then the serve will sadly die. All the gold farming sites will be in the game, spamming and their massive amounts of gold bots.

So a 19 year old boy thinks he can manage business better than whole company who has made enormous profit from Silkroad since 2004, while lots of companies that managed free MMO's got closed/bankrupt. Joymax is successful company which is doing great job manipulating the players and getting money from them.

Pls go.

Agreed. But a little correction: in ISRO, they have never merged servers before. They have only done it in KSRO. But yeah, this game is a survivor. :sohappy:

Joymax is successful mainly due to the immense luck they have with SRO. Its an easily loved game and that's where their luck comes in. Their constant manipulation of the player base wouldav most likely ended their reign in bankruptcy long time ago if SRO had a below average appeal.

I dont see your point. They developed the game, its their credits. They are doing great job.
The "luck" is their hard work.

The harder do I work, the luckier do I get.

Okay well they said that it won't be happening. THERE IS NO MERGE. It's pretty amusing when people just jump to think Joymax would do exactly as they "survey" then turning my valid techinical concerns with a sentence "it doesn't matter".

All they are saying is that iSRO will implement the same sro r stuff, involving (OBVIOUZLY) no character transfers between servers. This topic and whoever the intelligent prick who started: R.I.P
