What SRF needs more of! [Actually is SRO related!!]

Post by PokeMyPickle »

Mkay, this might be my last thread on SRF -- and before you decide to go and say, oh wait. I'm on the internet. Proper protocol must be formed.

inb4 qq
inb4 who cares
inb4 op bots

Mkay. Now, I know this is being posted in the SRO forum, and it seems a bit off topic. But keep in mind, Silkroad WILL be heavily referenced in here. After all, this IS the official unofficial forum of Silkroad! (plainly because the "official" ones are... well they're just terrible.

A large portion of SRF members have forgotten what a GAMER is

You see, from what I've read in the comments, SRF members have simply forgotten what a real gamer is. In fact, they attempt to flame gamers at every chance. Comments like,
"You don't bot? NOOB WITH NO LIFE"
or
"Leveling in this game is impossible without a bot".

These are NOT comments made by gamers. Gamers are the ones who turn the difficulty to max on their first playthrough to make the game last a little longer. They are the ones who hold a job or go to school running on a few hours of sleep because they just hit an all night Red Bull and Halo night. Or because they wanted to hit a raid... Or a fortress war.

A gamer is someone who plays a game they enjoy - and do what they can to make it as difficult as possible.. and then overcome it.

The last place I'd expect to see real gamers, i.e. people who enjoy the game and play it at it's maximum/intended difficulty, get flamed -- is on a gaming forum.

SRF doesn't know what a forum is used for

I didn't feel like saying "a large portion" again, but you get my point. Not everyone follows these points, but a large amount do.

Anyways, YES, a forum is used to say things like "Guys, I'm new, I need help." and "Dammit! I found a bug, be careful!" but it's also used to say things like, "Just for fun, what new features would you want to see?". You know -- things that aren't one of three subjects.. Things about the game. Things you like, things you wish could be there - discussions about simply enjoying the game. I started one about bots... With the hope that joymax would fix them? NO. To break the vanilla, "Bots sucks. Banzr them alredie." threads. I was going to make one about what people think about the PvP system, what their ideal job system would be, what party set-ups they have had fun with, the most crazy night they ever spent on silkroad -- but after my last thread, I know that from post 2-10 it's going to be nothing but "Why bother" "This thread is dumb" "Op is a bot".

Most people have simply given up

I stopped playing SRO. If I get my crew back, yeah, I might start up again. I'm not talking about people who stop playing. I'm talking about the people who still play - just somewhere else - and freak out about how stupid everyone is for still playing it.

All those legits who quit because they wanted a bot free server? Why not just ... stay, and dominate the server?

Everyone complaining about rates to the point of quitting? Why play one of the games MMOHut listed as the #4/#3 hardest game to cap in?

The ones who freak out about it being a grind fest and nothing else? WHY DOWNLOAD A KOREAN MMO!?!?!?!?

There are so many people who bailed on iSRO and then sit there ripping on everyone who stays. It just doesn't. make. sense.

Everyone is wrong about everything ever... But nobody will admit to it.

Welcome to the internet.

So! In conclusion, what SRF needs more of? Silkroad! Gamers! Gamers who play Silkroad! Gamers who play and ENJOY Silkroad! Legit players! Bots who would stop calling every legit a bot! And lastly...

LOGIC

Anyways, my patch just finished downloading. Later!

P.S.

inb4 if you don't like it just leave
.... I am. RAWR!

P.P.S. Also in response to the latter.... Take your own advice.

How long have you been playing Silkroad? Because it seems you aren't getting the picture of why legits quitted iSRO.
All those legits who quit because they wanted a bot free server? Why not just ... stay, and dominate the server?

Legits did that. Guess what: People get tired, bots don't.
Also
because they just hit an all night Red Bull and Halo night

I don't think I have to say anything here.

P.S. some sentences of yours made me cringe like a motherfucker.

the reason a lot of people dont like bots arent just because they level faster then legits. in a race a legit would level faster then a bot as long as the legit is consistantly playing 5 hours a day.
what people dont like is the fact that we have put in the hard work into our characters where bots put no effort in but get the same results.
also we dont like the fact that it ruins peoples ideas of playing or how to play the game. you cant party with bots because they have no idea at all how to party xD but if you want to solo you have to fight against the bots to find a mob or a spot.
even when you find a spot you have to make sure you dont find a spot with party mobs spawning from a 8man bot party.

and im not even going to discuss gold inflation prices ^^

you don't know what a "real" gamer is. There is no gamer actually since it's just a word to describe. There are only people who game.
A 4 year old playing lego star wars on easy or whatever is just as much a gamer as some 20 year old who plays on max difficulty. You're just arguing semantics here.

A forum can be used for whatever it is being used for. In the same way a phone is used to call people doesn't mean it can't be used as a paper-weight.

If you still play, you deal with it. Not much can be done our side.

The differentiation depends on passion. What OP is saying isn't that you have to play the highest difficulty, but the passion that is involved to want to play the highest difficulty.

There are many differentiations made as any subculture grows. We have moviebuffs who are passionate about movies as oppose to moviegoers. The same is easily said about real, true, whichever prefix you want to use to differentiate from a more passionate game player and someone who isn't as passionate.

People may use true, or in this case, real gamer to create a more clear understanding. But, from where I stand, a true gamer is just 'gamer,' as where I live, if you're a gamer, you are one who is passionate about games. Someone who just plays games, really, isn't a gamer; despite definitions. That's gamer culture.

tl:dr - cool story bro.
thing have gone far to long for silkroad community to want to try to enjoy silkroad again. there is no more enjoyment from this game for a lot of us anymore, the ones left are people who can see the absolute potential in this game and wish to hold on to what we once experienced. most of us will never forget our first trade run,

So to be a gamer, you have to be willing to stay up all night playing halo, then go to work on 2 hours of sleep, etc... Your definition of gamer blows, thus the rest of your post becomes irrelevant. Go away.
