Ok, i thought people could post up any probs they have with there sro-r client. Be it launcher or anything really.
I'm still having a serious issue just getting the client to launch, i was wondering, if i installed isro, could i then patch it to work for sro-r? I just get a blank content area on the sro-r launcher and says its under inspection.

And, have you tried downloading Silkroad-R once again?

Yeah, from a few different sources. The dir i downloaded from you, atleast got me as far as the client launcher. But then it just says it's under inspection. I have turned my firewall off "windows" and still nothing helps. It's so strange, i can run salvation fine, i should really download isro and see how that works. I could try and patch that client version maybe.

I doubt you can use the isro version, but give it a try!
Also, you should try changing the directory in which you install the game. A friend of mine once had a problem where he could not play Silkroad running on the (C:) hard drive.
It might be the same issue you're experiencing - don't know.

Nope, no luck. I tried adding there IP's to my hosts file, removed firewall, granted access through all programs that could stop it, closed all of those programs, changed the games dir. Removed ie, just incase that was blocking content from being displayed and me connected to the client via the launcher...I've tried everything.
If i can figure out the difference between the salvation client and the official sro-r client, then maybe i can pinpoint what it is exactly, thats stopping me connecting

This sounds extremely weird.
You're running Windows 7, right? Not that it should do any difference, lol. But I just don't know what else can be wrong. It's just plain odd.

Yeah, windows 7. It's just not connecting to the internet which is strange. I think that's the problem, it's as if im launching the client offline. Maybe I'll try connecting via an ethernet instead of wireless lol.
Then after that... maybe I'll try holding the laptop up in the air, at an angle facing towards the sky....at 1.45pm on the last sunday of the month... if that doesn't work, nothing will lol!!

Bump.
I've narrowed it down to it being something related to the default browser i use. If i play around with usin firefox, it works better. If i have chrome it doesn't work at all. If i click on the movie link, or the homepage link on the launcher i get an error message when chrome is my default browser. Firefox and ie will atleast load these pages in a new window. I still however get nothing from the launcher, But the content area that works like a div section to the launcher, is displaying a chrome "page cannot be found" style page. I even fully disabled ie to try and trick the launcher into using chrome, but no luck. Really, very strange stuff! lol, I've tried literally everything now

Um. Did you try to download the client from the official site instead of downloading an "uploaded" client, i know that this probably isn't the reason but can't think of anything else =/

Yeah, he did that already. It's freaking weird.
I can't remember if you ever tried installing it on a different hard drive?

Yeah, I've got it on both of my drives. No luck on either. It's so strange, if i play around with my browsers, i can make the launcher act in different ways. By disabling IE, the homepage link and movie links wont work, and display an error message similar to the server under inspection notice. The only possible thing i could try, is to just see if isro works, if not, then im guessing it's 100% something on my pc that is blocking the official launchers, something that the pserver salvation doesn't need in order to run.

Yep, you should try installing isro.
I can tell you already now, though, that it IS something with your pc. Kinda weird the way you can make the launcher act by changing browser.
I know that the silkroadonline.net page does not load in Chrome. But yeah, I use Chrome as my default browser, and I can still start the game. But yeah, try installing isro and see what happens.

I know, but the launcher might still refer to silkroadonline.net or a page, that cannot load in Chrome. I know it sounds doubtingly, but this guy has tried nearly everything, lol.
And yeah, the only solution left is probably to reinstall Windows as Extrme_G said. I know it sucks, but if that does not fix your issue, nothing can! I'm pretty sure it will though, lol.

Still no luck, edited file hosts, i also installed wakfu today...well, it stood as a nice test actually. I downloaded it, and it is a launcher/update based client, and guess what.... Can't connect to the internet either!
So my launchers aren't connecting to the internet, but salvation launcher will.

This might seem obvious, but have you tried right clicking the launcher, and choosing "Run as Admin"?

dunno if this has been said cuz i didnt read past the first post honestly but did you try going in the program file folder and setting the launcher and the client to run in compatability mode for windows xp sp2 and to run as admin?

Yes, tried both of your suggestions already. Still no luck, does anybody know the major difference between the salvation launcher, and offical game launchers? Wakfu is acting the same as the sro-r launcher. I even tried playing around with my modems settings, still no luck

Ok, was a random idea i had, i noticed i wasn't running windows service pack 1 for windows 7, updated... and the Wakfu launcher is now connecting to the internet, but sro is crashing when i open it. I think i will be playing in no time now, as as soon as the launcher stops crashing i know it will connect.
So for those with similar problems, be sure to try this out. Click start > Run > winver, it will then say what version of windows you have, and more importantly the service pack. I'd like to add, right clicking and editing the client properties to run in windows xp/vista service pack 3, will not work on windows 7, if you havent got windows 7 service pack 1 installed.

Ok, problem solved. For the sake of people having similar problems, and this thread ranking well on google lol, I'll close off the thread with the fix for when the sro launcher crashes every time you open it.
Follow this and it will work, click control panel > system > advanced settings > performance tab click settings, now click data execution prevention, and be sure to turn on DEP for all programs except those i select, then browse for both the sro_client and silkroad launcher files, add these both, and it will work.
