Yes. Also you must check and see if your zodiac signs are similar. This forum does not allow trading characters that are of different astrological signs.
Since you have already admitted to this deed. The only way to prove your legitness is to record video proof of you grinding a full 10 levels by hand. The video must be a minimum of 100 hours of footage to be considered proof.
Other things that you must remember is that you must dis-associate yourself from all of his past friends. This means you must join a new guild and delete all the friends off his friends list and never speak to them again. You must take your character and strip it naked and make it walk the walk of shame on Silkroad.
Depending on the race of the character, you must start in either Jangan or Constantinople and walk all the way to Hotan. You must then murder 20 random noobs that are your level and blame them on the previous owner.
Once you have video proof of all of this, you can now start on the path to redeeming that character.
Obtain some holy water from a local priest and pour it over your computer while you are connected to SRO. Once you see the magical sparks of forgiveness from the game gods, you will be able to post here on SRF with a guilt-free conscience.

Shit happens, you didn't bot on it so as long as you didn't ask him to bot it for you and then 'give' it to you it's all good. And even then, how would we know if you don't tell us lol.

If he gave you his character after it got banned, what is the point? You can't use it, it's banned. If you were really worried about having issues on here, you'd play your own character and never give out the account info to anyone so that your brother/sister/cousin/friends wouldn't bot on it while you were not home.

Did she ask the friend to bot the char while she was away? If so then it's a legit ban. If he was botting the char behind her back I'd say unban her cuz that's just fcking bullshit. But then again I'm not the boss here so it doesn't matter too much what I think =p

If that's true she shouldn't be banned. The problem is, can it be proven it were those friends on her char and not her.

Heh, I don't even know where the thread is, I thought I saw it a while back. She quit that char anyway.
edit: she came back and asked to be banned on a different account. no idea if she's around anymore.

no, we are responsible for our characters. if you give the info to someone and they get caught botting it. its your fault. im not taking sides on this issue, just stating the approach the forum took.

I agree with CeLL, it's your account, so your responsibility, forum rules say the same. I dont know why some risk it, most companies got a strict policy stating that if they see that the account is shared, they deny you support if something would happen to it.

I was more or less talking about personal ideas, not what the forum or the game ToS says. I don't think it's your fault if you let your friend use your char and he (or she) 'betrays' you by botting on it. But then again if someone got proof of your char botting and you can't proof it was a friend on it then you're fcked.

I gotta agree with Moshe here. I see the problem and sure do understand why SRF's rules are as they are. I mean, else you could just always claim that it was a friend playing, and not you. But, as Moshe said, apart from the SRF rules, I do agree that you're not responsible for what your friends do with your char.
It's just like if you lend somebody your bike in real life. If they completely destroy it, it can't possibly be your responsibility, and I guess most people would ask the guy who borrowed it, to pay for the costs, wouldn't you?
And of course I laughed hard at what Goseki said, when I read it yesterday

actually this is where people get confused. if you loan your friend something of yours, you still remain responsible. they are only accountable for it.
much like a man who owns a warehouse and everything in it is fully responsible for it. if he hires someone to manage it, he is only accountable for it.
i dont give a shit if this guy was given a botted character. im just saying. someone here on srf may care. or they may have proof of the character being botted and use it against the new owner. i just dont want ignorant assholes screaming, IT WASNT HIM HE DIDNT DO IT WAA WAA WAA. ito got banned for it, and if this character is found out to be botted, hes no better.

True as it's said. But that's how the "real life" laws are. I mean, hey, this is just a game after all, right?
But don't get me wrong, I still do agree that people should get banned if somebody else bot their char too. Even if it's not "on purpose". Simply, as you also say, to avoid all the whining and screaming about how it "Wasn't him, he didn't do it bla bla bla".
