Party average level below monster level

My friend said it does not matter anymore. Even though your pt average level is below the monster level, you do not gain extra exp anymore.
Can anyone confirm this?
Sorry, it seems my friend is a noob ^^
Anyone knows, How many levlels below the monster level will let your pt to gain the most exp?

If the party's average level is below the monster level you get the bonus xp. I don't think it matters if the party's average level is below 1 level or below 20 levels.
If your character's level is 11 levels below the monster level you get the maximum amount of xp.

im farming now and your friend is wrong. pty average above mob lvl i get 600 sp exp points and party average below pty lvl i get 1200 sp exp points (give or take a few)
