Current situation of Silkroad.

Post by Goseki »

For anyone who comes and asks how the game is after x time of not playing, here's your one-stop answer.

Summary of the game as of right now:

Cap-110
Skills-110

Builds Pwnage:
Warrior/Cleric is still the most overpowered build. Wizard/Cleric are really annoying too since everyone only has sos items at best, the dmg is stupidly high when a nova staff is used. Bowers are still well known for their kb spam, and glaivers have an insane amount of dmg too. Bladers are almost as good of a tank as warrior, so killing them with an average char is really hard. Int chn builds are average usually, not really shining. As for other euro characters, Warlocks is probably the last one that is really overpowered. The debuffs are lvl 11 and the pills to cure them are now 100k each so yea, unless you have a cleric, warlocks will pwn you.

11 degree items:
Normal item is kind of roc bird themed. Special Coin sets are Egypt themed.
No SoS, SoM, or SoSun. Only Seal of Nova. Nova is between SoS and SoM. Roc items are pretty much impossible to get now in iSRO due to JM's incompetence. Not only is there no hope for iSRO since there is zip co-operation and server-wide teamwork due to all the hate, JM now fcked up the roc entrance teleport so that only 103 and under are able to use it. Good Job JM. Also, there appears to only be 11d hats, no more hoods. Probably as a result, the head piece is now one of the rarest to find.

Mechanics/Gameplay:
Game is a huge grindfest due to the exp required, however sp is SLIGHTLY easier to get thanks to a quest where you just kill people of the opposing job. Unfortunately, you'll have to be a 105+ to do this. Grinding is still covered with bots, but less goldbots due to how high the cap is now.

You can now do temple runs where you and your party go through the temple and kill mobs and uniques to gain coins for the special egypt set.

Jobbing only exists in 2 places, the jobbing temple where you must wear a jobsuit to enter, or in your dreams. Once in awhile, there will be a VERY SHORT (30 mins or so) job war outside smk. NO TRADING INVOLVE since the trader won't make it very far past the city gates. Why? Black res again. They die, thief pick stuff up, black res, kill thief transport, shit never goes anywhere. Eventually it disappears into oblivion. Hence, people stop jobbing.

PvP is even more unbalanced. You will fight someone, the loser will be sad and call upon his friends to help. After a gangbang, you will call on yours as well. Eventually there will be a huge war. Does anyone win? Rarely. It will just be one big res-fest. When someone dies, they will be black ressed. Then fully buffed allowing them to live for like 5 mins. During this time, they will deal shit dmg, unless they are a wizzard who has a nova staff and your team doesn't have any buffs. If you have buffers, than you will be fine. After awhile, someone will die, get instantly ressed and same shit will start again. Unlike before where a warrior buffing who dies has to teleport, he can just get back up, OR better yet, be black ressed for even more hp to buff. After an hour of no one winning or losing, one side will get bored. This is taken as a sign of defeat regardless of how long you've been fighting. Then the winner/loser will spam globals for a few mins about how much sex they have had with the opposing person's mother.

Alchemy is crud. It feels like alchemy in general has gotten harder since the last update. Takes more tries to plus, and more stones fail.

MMO-Experience:
Amount of players left can be debated. It seems English speaking players are dwindling while other people (seemingly from Turkey, Egypt, or some other big mmo country) are taking their spots.

If you are under lvl 90 (80 in some servers) (excluding newly opened servers of course), forget about grinding in a party on an old server. Shit doesn't happen. In some servers there are parties from 80-90 due to Chin Tomb. However, this depends on your server. Party matching use to be like 5-6 pages, remember? Now it's rare to even go past 2 pages.

Botting is still VERY prevalent despite JM's war on bot. Most 8/8 parties are really just 2-3 people. Botting has even worked its way into pvp with one person running his own bard buffer, cleric, and warrior that auto-buff him and spams heals on him. If you're a poor legit fighting a rich botter, you're pretty much farked unless you have your own army of friends.

CTF is still as buggy as ever. Remember those 85 genies, yup still the strongest mob in ctf. As a result of 2 caps passing on through since CTF was released, lvl 70+ will usually end up having at least 1 lvl 100+ in the ctf. No offense, but if it's a high lvl turk, you might as well scroll back since he will just spawnkill the other team.

Fortress War depends on server. Either you have a war every 2 weeks or nothing happens. The most active place is really just hotan since it has the biggest payoffs. FW also suffers from the plauge of the Warrior/Cleric black res (immolation) res. You have some fully buffed wizzards charge in and get abs dmged to death. Than here's the fun part, warrior will come and res, than warriors die, than wiz's turn around and res warrior who re-buffs them. Than you're stuck watching them punch at obstacles since they can't really be killed. In short, it becomes very laggy once more ppl show up since no one ever dies. The only way to honestly every win is to straight out annihilate an entire team. FW is just a matter of timing. Last uni to get the FW before it ends wins. It seems to play flip-flop a lot when it's 2 very large unions.

Servers:
GNGWC is starting again, so if you are an old player and want to reminisce, it is possible to log on during certain hours when servers are only slightly crowded. I suggest a download, log in, walk around, than log off and delete folder.

If I missed something about the current SRO situation, please let me know and I shall update this.

For the pvp situation you forgot to mention the multi-client abusing people who bring their own euro buff pt to help them while they pvp lol

We should stop treating people like objects, or at least treat our objects with more respect.

Alright I'll edit it a bit. On my server I only see 95+ as the lowest in pt searching.

Edit: added a short summary on pwnage builds this cap.

Sounds like what people do on WoW. Basically called multiboxing which means a dude runs like 5 characters and just dominates anybody running solo. Blizzard actually allows it most likely since each character cost what $15 dollars a month? Lol

Imo, none of 11d items are Roc-themed. Only that special 10d Roc gear is.
Other than that, it's a good summary of the current state of SRO. A sticky would be good.

If you look at parts of the gear, it kinda looks like scales or claws-ish. Especially the garm/robe set. Looks like pieces of a bird's nest and claws.

But they were not meant to be Roc-themed i think. :D None of them has feathers like the Roc gear has. The colors aint right either. I'd say that they are just Euro-themed, cos there is nothing Chinese-like in these armors. :soosad:

hmmm.. sounds like nothing has changed except for the new maps/skills. How about jobbing?
Do people still trade hunt thief thats what silkroad is supposed to all about and i'm not talking about putting on the jobsuit to get sp at lvl 105+. Just wondering how much gold and xp do traders get from doing a 5 star special from bandit fortress to alexandria? Its funny that these same guys bot their char for months and their "endgame" is just doing cape fights and black res wars outside samarkand. each to their own I guess.

Added some more about current jobbing... or lack there of due to black res making the trade go nowhere.

They did say Islam was coming and it makes sense that the second world would pick up the "leftovers" from the first world.

Good post though. And very true. The entire game is probably the best example in the history of mankind of how to completely mismanage a "product". Gameplay-wise it is also absolutely and totally devoid of content of any kind.

Silkroad is one of those things that one can look at objectively and truly say that it is Farking sad to see people still wasting time on it. People grind for years only so that they can stand outside of a town and PVP other players that have done the same thing. Seriously, what the hell?
You will spend 99% of your time grinding, you just don't know it yet.

Hurr durr. Multi-boxing is allowed as long as no 3rd party software is used to automate moves.

Which I don't consider it multi-boxing if you just have multiple clients open. Multi-boxing to me is having more than one client open with all them controlled by one button.

I run two clients all the time.

Which is still allowed. If you have 4 boxes with all of them mages. You're allowed to have one button to make all of them cast fireball at the same time. There is no automation in it. You're still controlling them.

But once you have all of them cast fireball automatically everytime it's off cooldown, then you've crossed the line.

How else can these guys 10-box Karazhan, or 36-box city raids publicly without getting the banhammer? The keyword is automation.

More sauce here.

that's why i've never seen it ingame, only saw in when joymax teaser came out.

I think its very much possible to kill roc if all of the big 3 Unions unite just to kill roc, so many 110 wizards with son+10 staff already.
